Here we take a look at a cool 2x6 Ammo Pouch made by Simply Rugged. Although not the most efficient way to reload your revolver it is a very concealable/easy way to carry extra ammo. With training you can make this work in your favor...

In 1968 we were trained to load two at a time from the loops on our duty belt. When I made detective I got one similar to this and still have it, it’s a good option for EDC. I’ve been in a gunfight w/a revolver and anything that can go wrong WILL go wrong. Buy the best & train w/it.

I either do a single gun and a speed strip in my watch pocket, or I do a double shoulder holster and a double speed loader pouch on my belt. Im hoping I get it done in the first 7 357s.

Been loving the recent return to revolver vids! I've been watching your vids since WAY back in the early days... Have you ever tried the DeBethancourt method of reloading a revolver? He advocates keeping the revolver in your dominant hand throughout the entire reload. I took his snub fighting workshop a bunch of years ago... and I continue to train and practice using his dominant-hand reload method. (i carry either a K frame or J frame for concealed carry... when I'm not carrying Glock or 1911, ha)

My grandfather taught us how to fire two load two and how to line up the charge holes with the cylinder flute, he'd also make batches of wax bullets for his revolvers so us boys could target practice in the alley behind his house.

This pouch is predominantly for a tactical reload. When there is a lull in the fight and there is no visible threat you reload one, two rounds. A simple pressing of the extractor rod will raise the spent casings in order to reload those chambers. For an emergency load a speed loader is recommended. 🇺🇸👮🏻‍♂️👍🏻

Nice informative content! Carried a revolver for many years both on and off-duty. The truest thing you said is that reloading a fighting revolver under stress demands dexterity and practice! You are going to drop rounds!!!!!!!!!!!!! In 1974 while in the Detroit Police Academy, they issued us our equipment to include drop pouches. The old guys told us to take them home and soak them overnight in water to make the leather pliable. Take as many rounds as you can, stuff them in each pouch, snap them shut, and allow the pouches to dry. The above allowed the pouch to stretch and get 8 to 9 rounds in each pouch. The theory was that under the stress of a shootout, you would likely fumble and drop a few rounds and maybe you could get five or six left to reload. If you didn't drop any rounds, you now had more available rounds to defend with? I like and still use pouches like yours. However, I usually move them around back with one to either side of the back center belt loop. Back in the day of leisure suits your jacket could blow open and expose your ammo. The women back then didn't like cops a lot so this kept everything to the rear but still available. While I'm at it, I did and still do prefer the Safariland Comp 1 Speedloader for both speed and its compact size!

Love the revolver videos brother (keep 'em coming!) It's nice to see some of the old school practices coming back! I actually carry a variety of different 2” Colt or Ruger .38 or .357 Magnum revolvers regularly utilizing speed strips and Zeta6 or HKS speed loaders. Maybe having a single round option might be something to look into. Thanks for the information!

I just stick with the sks speed loaders, but that 6x6 is really cool looking. I'm also really glad the revolver videos are back again, I love revolvers I can care less if ppl think they're antiquated or whatever

I was happy to hear at the end, what amounted to a disclaimer, that this reloading technique is everything but efficient and fast… fun to play around with, nostalgic to say the least, but the last thing I’d want to try under duress. Love the video, thanks for sharing. That Python is sweeeet👌🏻

Hey that’s a good one.👍 I had a couple kinds of dump pouches back in the 70’s. Probably still have ‘em around somewhere. Good solution for some applications. I’ll look at Simply Rugged.

Thanks for the video! I too use the old, venerated 2+2+2 pouch. It's VERY low profile. Most people don't know what they are and its intended purpose. Yes, it takes practice, but I've found that it's just as fast as the Speed Strip. The key is practice, practice, practice. The art of the revolver...

Nice! I believe this type of pouch was originally designed for "gassing the gun" reloads. 👍👍

A lifetime ago, I worked as an armored car driver guard. I used at the time, i believe a Safariland variant of those pouches. Had 2 of those on the belt. i also had the 2 brands of speed loaders. The Safariland had the best function. I confess I carried it in my pocket. That was the only thing in that pocket.

Love your content. Keep up the good work. Nice demo. BUT TRY A 6 SHOT SPEED STRIP to cure the pickup sticks.

I generally use speed loaders. Either HKS or Safariland comp-3 loaders. I can see the 2x2x2 pouches are very low profile. Nobody will notice a 2x2x2 pouch. Far less obvious than my larger Galco speed loader pouches. So the decision is do you want to load all six at once. Or, two at a time to replace the six empties. Right now I am more accustomed with speed loaders. For IDPA competition those speed loaders are an advantage. Got to be fast at everything in competition. Those seconds can make or break you.

I can’t find it on the site. Only the others that dropped on you. Looks beautiful. I carry a Kimber K6 as back up. I carry a strip or 2. Loosely in my pocket. This would be nice on the belt. I’m not going for speed. Just like extra ammo.

Simply Rugged makes a verticle Speed Strip case for your belt. Takes up less space and doesn't drop the load on the ground.

i still use the no speed strip/speed load method loading by 2's but do it from a crosman pellet pouch or belt with cartridge loops, the concept of 2's was to fire 2 shots while getting to cover and replacing 2 fired rounds with 2 more, if say you fired all 5 or 6 you would only reload 1 or 2 and usually person would not come to your possition of cover but would be running away as shown in most defense situations that were not law enforcement wich was a very different defense situation then the private citizen who only needs to take cover, defend and get away where as law enforcement its a chase requiring a longer gun fight and more resources to cuff and bring in the suspect, i use old school methods just to keep good at it even though we know speed strips and speed loaders we have these days, many that dont train the old way you can tell by how they load a single cartridge and close cylinder, those who practice old school ways can load one catridge and close cylinder lined up with very few errors

Thank you for the informative review. My EDC is a Colt Python, so I am glad you chose it for the demonstration. Right now I carry three speedloaders in a pocket, but there may be some circumstances where this pouch is a better option.

I use a similar pouch for speed strips and I swipe up with my thumb from the bottom so I can catch the speed strip. I’ve trained both dry fire and live fire and I’ve never dropped ammo. I should try a 2x6 pouch for topping off a j-frame

use thumb and index finger in the flutes wich are the low spots on cylinder so its always in the same orientation when loading it on all 5 just after empty

I know it sounds crazy, but... Try that speed strip one upside down. When you come down to break the clasp open, your hand should theoretically be right there to catch it.

Not crazy at all. I did attempt that but it still flew out. Maybe the pouch is just too stiff. Good idea

Do they have a mag style if not someone should make one. Pushing rounds to the tip holding more and probably be easier to get them out with the mag like build idk that would be sweet
