Such an informative video! I sewed lots of garments when I was younger for me and my daughter. I do sew some clothes for my granddaughter and make her Halloween costumes. Elsa from Frozen, the wicked witch from Oz and this year Hermione from Harry Potter. I still do repairs and alterations for the family. I enjoy quilting more now. My 8 year old granddaughter wants to sew a skirt, so I will use this tutorial for a sewing lesson with her. Thanks for all you do!
Wonderful tips & so well organized and sequenced. I don't sew much from patterns anymore (more into quilting) but hoping to get my granddaughter more into sewing when she visits again this summer. As someone else said, a tutorial on laying it out and cutting etc would be awesome. Kids are much into vids these days & might follow along better than listening to a parent or grandparent. Sadly they've cut out skill building like Home Economics out of schools these days. The leaflet from Simplicity sure looks useful! Thanks
Thank you! So timely for me. I haven't sewn from a pattern in 40 years. Now that I'm retired, I want to jump back in. You covered a lot of things I had forgotten. I would like to see you do another on laying out and cutting a pattern. Maybe something on assembling and altering as well.
Reminds me of what I learned in Home Economics back when I was in High School (I'm now 70yo). Very valuable information and learned about "stretchability" markings on the pattern.
Thank you so much for the VERY informative video Laura, I've always wanted to know how to fully understand paper patterns and you certainly have nailed this on the head. I've downloaded the Simplicity chart and will certainly use it as a resource for myself, I've recently lost rather a lot of weight so a considerable amount of my wardrobe is too large for me and I cannot seem to find exactly the dresses and skirts that I like in the shops so here goes..... may I ask if you are likely to do any video's on how to make alterations to existing clothing in the future?
Hello Laura, this was a great info vid! Thank. I grew up with a seamstress and I always had conflicting info from her and teachers etc. So yay 😁 I'm wondering where you found Manique😏😊 was it a covering you made purchased or was it on her at purchase? Aside from the fab digs she's sporting I like her size build etc.. does she have the fluctuation in weight( hahaha sizes like most gals deal with... is she adjustable😁😉) She's...Faaabulous darling ☺️
