We finally hit The Hay River Track in the Northern Simpson Desert in this Epic episode. We depart Jervois Station along the corrugated track towards Batton Hill Bush Tucker Camp before tracking South along the iconic Hay River. The high temperatures take second place to the beautiful Northern region of the Simpson Desert. We make Camp right on the Tropic of Capricorn and enjoy an Outback Steak by the fire for dinner. The follow day we keep heading South and make the side trip out to Lake Caroline, the large expansive clay pan.

Two of us (vehicles) did the Hay River Track in 2015 without a problem except for very heavy Bull Dust from Batton Hill to the Plenty from grading. The sadest thing was that the old Elder Lindsay Bookie had died a year before before we got to Batton Hill - we chated with a mate of his (Jo Flemming) that had found him down the track & had to put his body in his truck with seat belt to get him back. The locals left at Batton Hill told us that to them KFC was "Bush Tucker" which made it even sadder.😢
