Sims 1
The fire pit in the Sims 1, comes without wood. When your sim goes to light a fire, they will manually stack individual logs in the pit and light it up using a match. Sims can sit around the campfire, roast marshmallows, tell a story. In very rare occasions a ghost named Green Beard the Ghost may come for a visit and and scare the Sims that are listening the story.
Sims 2
When you buy the campfire comes with already stacked wood. So your sim will just light it up using a lighter. Like in The Sims 1, in The Sims 2, sims sit on the ground. Up to 4 people can sit by the campfire. Sims can warm hands and they can also roast marshmallows.
Sims 3
There are Portable Fire Pits in the Sims 3.Sims will light the fire using a lighter. Up to six chairs can be placed around a fire pit. Unlike the previous games, Sims don't sit on the ground. They will automatically place a chair and sit, except when a sim is telling a ghost story. Sims can poke the fire, warm themselves and roast marshmallows. But they can roast any kind of food that is in their inventory. When sim is telling a ghost story, other sims will sit on the ground. Sims can also burn herbs. Unlike the previous Sims games, in The Sims 3, Sims can put out the fire.
Sims 4
Campfires in The Sims 4 come already stacked with wood. Sims light the campfire using a match, and sometimes get burned in the process. If there aren't chairs available, your sim will stand by the fire, except when they are roasting food. You can add log to the fire. Sims can play a guitar and sing songs if they have at least 3 skill points. They can burn money,
play with the fire. Tell group stories: adventure stories, fairytale, and after 7 PM - ghost stories
Sims can Roast five different kinds of food - marshmallows, hot dogs, veggie dogs fish and beetles. Like in The Sims 3, Sims can extinguish the fire, but with a bucket of water.
