Sims 2: Building a Basement without Custom Content

For many years, I never thought this was possible without the use of custom content. After experimenting with this, I was wrong. It's just a very specific process. Now, my Sims 2 Sims can now have basements in their homes!

Just a quick tip. The first wall you see in the poured wall designs (Discrete Concrete) makes a great template for how far down you should dig your basements as the horizontal seam on it is the exact height for walls. Alternatively you can lightly click the ground 12 times while using the lower terrain tool and that should get you the exact height you need for walls as well, as long as you don't hold down the mouse button too long that is. This one is a bit trickier to do as it's easy to overshoot it.

add a wall first and then add a foundation. That way you can hang things on the wall.

When I was building it, I couldn’t build a wall directly next to the foundation. So no windows or egresses. However, I will take your suggestion for the next basement build.
