I think the reason it's difference is the way animations are activated. Sims is a click here, choose to do this, and later choose to cancel or complete the action. In sso there so many instant inputs that the animations can't be the same bc they'd jumble together within the code. But outside of that, I can understand that the interaction animations could be better like the feeding and the petting and all that but I could also argue that they add so many models with their own set of animations that I don't think sso could do it like sims bc sims has 1 major horse model, a few variety choices. Does that make sense? I think it's not fair to compare sims 4/sims 3 animations to sso because of the variety they both pose in different ways

Most animations in Sims do interact with the environment, since Sso horses dont do that, they just have a row of a few premade basic idle animations. They dont have a reason to eat grass for hunger for example like sims does. Thats why Sso is more plain and one sided and not as lively as sims is cuz in sims you have more actions and interactions to do for a purpose, for example a horse in sims has a bar of affection, you pet the horse and play with it so its happy, in sso it doesnt exist. It makes no difference if u shower it, or give it cuddles, its cute but has no purpose. Even if sso now has a care system, the horse loves you equally the same regardless if you train it or not.

@xWhiteKuri exactly. It's not that we hate one over the other, I think on a technical stand point, the game just doesn't have a reason to unless they rework half the game which isn't rlly needed

Yeah, instead of patting 1m away from the horses head they could actually lean into the hand! SSO are kinda lazy haha. They should look into getting a new engine for sure!

The reason the jump get messed up like that is because a fast gallop is just a sped up version of the normal gallop. So the jump is also sped up causing the jump to “land” sooner than the horse is. If you use the normal gallop you’d notice the jumps are usually good, sometimes they clip into the ground slightly but nothing horrible.

Well, this horse pack is 40euro with barely a fourth of SSO content. I don't know if I'd use prices to compare these two.

yes, but it fails in several other aspects, together (sso and horse ranch ts4) it would have been one of the best horse games today

While I can't speak on the limitations of SSO's engine, you can't compare these games like this, the gameplay is completely different.
