I loved H2O growing up. Only found out about mako mermaids as an adult. It took me awhile to get over the hate of messing with my childhood memories. But it was a cute show. Also sirens are actually birdlike creatures originally. Like the ones in the Odyssey. But at some point ppl started adding them with mermaids. Likely bc they drew men to crash on rocks, and mermaids are prettier than bird women. Plus harpies were already a thing. I personally like the mer-siren approach as well.
My idea for a mermaid is this: When they're in the water, they're mermaids, but when they come out, they're human Kinda like Emily Windsnap in that Emily Windsnap series I've ALWAYS wanted to make a mermaid story, and I would DEFINETLY reccomend a film called Splash.
My theory is that sirens are the same as mermaids with have gills and sharper teath. They would be usally frightened of Humans and in extreem cases for deffence they will will drag a human in the water. They would have a very undeveloped language with few words. The reason for starting one (or atleast trying) would be from listening to humans talk. They wouldn't be able to go on land and would have scales on some parts of their skin. My personal thoughts on weather mermaids can go on land or not if they dry of is that maybe only the more powerful ones can. if all mermaids had the ability, we would likely know about it, although i think it is just as possible that none of the mermaids have this ability at all.
OMG I watched Mako mermaids and H2O they are both mermaid related series which are so similar but also have their differences I used to love watching it as the tails on them looked amazingly real! Another one I have watched is Splash!! My theory is that mermaids can get dry and then walk out on land!! But when they go back into the water they become a mermaid again. OMG she is gorgeous! This makes me want to use custom content. I actually haven't used CC since Sims 2. Sims 3 had that great color wheel and I didn't feel the need to get CC, but Sims 4...I dunno...looking at your sim, it makes me want to try it. :D
I like mirmaids, but for some reason I feel like sirens are more my style. Im OBSESSED with sirens. I did watch H20 on Netflix about a year ago. Is really good. 😜
