To be more specific for the limiting werewolves to Moonwood Mill option: it doesn't stop werewolf sims from showing up in other worlds, it only stops them from showing up in werewolf form.
@@joaolima7131 I honestly wish there was an in-game option to turn off certain bar nights. Been using mods for disabling them ever since they were introduced. I like occults, but I still want to have a certain degree of control over them and not have the game adding 10+ new aliens each time I visit a bar on alien night etc.
If you're interested in mods to supply some of those occult check these mods: Expanded Mermaid by SpinningPlumbobs Frankenfix of Nyx's Enhanced Aliens by baniduhaine PlantSim Lives by SrslySims
@@coolchilion722 thank you for sharing this info! I love playing with occults and like giving them my own restrictions and abilities with the power of imagination lol, so having mods for that it’s perfect for me!
I wish modders can use the new "werewolfs stay on moonwood" option in the menu to creatr a versio to keep every resident on their own world so we don't see nancy langrab everywhere 🙏🙏😭
@@joaolima7131 Yeaah, but with this it'd be easier to track and more customizable I feel, like enabling new crest citicens also in Willow creek by putting those 2 on or so (???)
I really want to limit merfolk to Sulani since it's very hard to care for them in other worlds, given how quick their hydration need depletes. I wish EA had given them more places to swim, since there are other worlds with oceans in them...why can't we swim/fish there? Makes no sense. Honestly I wish all bodies of water were swimmable. I am looking forward to this pack though, the wolfies are cute. I also think the whole lunar phase thing is something that will eventually be incorporated with fairies.
You didn't miss anything. The livestream was a disaster as usual. Boring too. The audio was terrible and they had technical difficulties that cut them short on time. Not everything was shown in detail. The Sims team are insanely incompetent.
I love werewolves, and was really excited to hear about this pack (no pun intended). But, am I the only one who sees these werewolves and think they look like the CGI from CATS??
I actually have the Werewolves pack, and I might be able to shed some light on this. Due to neighborhood story settings, the Volkovs (an all Werewolves household) got a pet cat, and called one of my Werewolves over to meet the new pet since he's a family friend. No reaction from the cat when I had him introduce himself. It didn't react to his wife Selena either. So while I'm yet to further test this, I'm sad to say that pets probably don't react to Werewolves.
as a mostly non-occult player, i was just wondering why can’t they put the same amount of love into other types of packs. vamps was pretty well done and this pack is looking similar.
Finally we're getting werewolves after how long we got vampires now I can have epic battles between werewolves and vampires or make the characters from Twilight
It's a huge improvement for me since I was a Sims 3 player for many years, dealing with those werewolves lol...they were so ugly, but fun to play with. I love the cute, fluffy look of these werewolves. The art style matches the Sims 4 aesthetic.
Hey are you updating the guides on the main page anymore? I need to learn more about werewolves so I saved this video to come back to watch. Thank you!
Idk how they managed to both make something that seems better than usual but also still lacking. I feel like if they were going for this aesthetic then they should have also given us hair, facial hairs and body hairs for further customize the werewolf form. Feels like they cut corners a bit by just using human skeleton already so could put that into some other small details.
They do stuff like this, Some people believe that for the Afro hair texture they based themselves on a cauliflower 🥵 i don’t know how accurate that is but dangggg.
@@Kalolelo It was a specific female hair from CAS and the cauliflower comment was mentioned in a dev tweet. It wasn't the texture as much as the 3D shape of the curls which... yeah. Inspiration can come from anywhere, but it's bad when there's very little representation of Afro hair/curls in the game and people are complaining that it looks terrible.
@@DoveJS i think it’s ridiculous they based the hair on that instead of a real Afro from an actual person 😅 . No wonder people of color were angry about it.
Well I... think I prefer this design over the Sims 3 design... I feel that something about how they look seems... off, but I can't put a pin on it. Maybe it's their facial features from a head-on view. Maybe it's the lack of tails. Maybe it's the human legs. Or, maybe it's just seeing werewolves doing normal Sim animations and checking their phones. Probably something you'll get used to. Wonder what modders will accomplish, particularly CC.
I'm with you on the lack of tails. The body also looks... really... weird. Kind of like the masculine frame looks odd and I can never figure out why. If you're open to mods, along with the CC, Spinning Plumbob (iirc) already has a werewolf mod :3
I mean, people already had CC sliders/presets for snouts and stuff; I've seen all kinds of monsterous and weird things for basic Sims and mermaids. Just gotta allow it to work for Werewolves tho no idea how it'll affect the facial animations lol.
I was already going to buy this pack for the pretty little world, CAS & BB objects, but wasn't all that excited about werewolves (still waiting for my fairies and rockbands), until I watched the stream. The gameplay in this pack looks really intriguing! I like that we can confine weres to Moonwood Mill. HOW I wish we could confine active NAPs to Evergreen Harbor and celebrities to Del Sol Valley. They basically shut down my retail store and every public venue they infest. And the damn ubiquitous townies. Seriously, we have to have all the base game townies "milling" around in Moonwood Mills? GAH. Hello modders (hint hint) please FIX THIS. I'm so tired of them NUKING IMMERSION in worlds they don't belong in. So... where did the were keep his phone while he was NEKKID? Inquiring minds want to know. And finally. About that head. I still find the little tiny cartoony wolf heads jarring. They had a chance to be awesome. But... sigh... Sims 4. We knew it wasn't gonna happen. All the customization will help. And again, modders will ride to the rescue. I'm sure.
It looks really cool but, indeed the heads are a bit... Jarring. Right up on the uncanny valley maybe? It just keeps reminding me of that god awful cats movie designs..
@@joaolima7131 Yes. I am aware and have done so, but as I said above I would like to have NAPs enabled, but JUST in Evergreen Harbor, so they don't bleed out into all the rest of the worlds.
Features of one pack actually impacting and interacting with features of another pack? Unheard of! More seriously, they had me at "actual telescope", that's all I need to know.
I'm going to be honest, I'm mostly just looking forward to BB. The werewolves look like sims in costumes or just too tooney. I do hope they release a good pack though and that it isn't broken. I'll wait until everyone else rushes out to grab it first before I spend anything.
I was very ... meh about werewolves because I'm not super into it as a concept and also I was wary of Sims 4 Furry pack but seeing that it is more like vampires, with the power tree and actually having to do some work, I'm more interested in it than I originally thought I am holding out for a bit in case it's another 12 hours of gameplay until you complete the storyline pack
@@loupblanc7944 Sims 4 werewolves look like furries, or just "wolf people" they look nothing like werewolves. Hell some of the ones in that preview looked more cute than scary.
@@loupblanc7944 Furries are to werewolves what weebs are to anime characters. But still the ones in this pack _look_ like a furry's OC, and a lot of stuff shown just feels like pandering.
Why do they give werewolves such *****y powers? EDIT: Now that I've seen them, werewolves have a lot of good abilities. But pi**ing on the floor and licking yourself is still Florida Man-tier powers.
@@Sorakeyblademaster37 How is being able to pee on the floor and cleaning yourself "shitty" powers? Like, you never have to worry about your Sim rushing around trying to find a bathroom/toilet to use or clean themselves in. As a werewolf, you can literally take care of those needs where ever you want. You also gain the ability to curl up and sleep comfortably on the ground which means werewolf Sims don't need to stumble along to find somewhere to sleep when they are tired. Werewolf Sims also have the ability to Hunt for Food whenever they are hungry and they can even unlock an ability that allows them to eat things that aren't normally edible such as furniture to state their hunger. They also can unlock an Alpha ability that allows them to win fights more, as well as healing and immortality abilities. As a werewolf, your Sim can learn abilities that can literally allow them to tend to any need they may have where ever and whenever they want. So how is that "shitty"
I do think this pack is one of the better gamepacks (at least on paper for now). But I feel your concern about the werewolf checking his phone after he transformed back to human form. It is things like these that I do not like about The Sims 4, it's that those small details that break my immersion and just bothers me so much. Like Nancy or Bella or Judith casually strolling everywhere. Or that rich sim from Get Together is your park's homeless person because he has the erratic trait.
i feel this pack should have been a full expension, theres so much more they could have done! Im still very excited for this but imo there could have been a lot more to the gameplay
@@joaolima7131 Mermaids were in an expansion pack, but mermaids weren't the main focus of the pack, they were just an addition to a pack with am much boarder focus on the island lifestyle and culture and environmental conservation. The same goes for aliens, they were in the same pack as all the other Get To Work stuff, it wasn't a pack just about aliens. An expansion pack focussed entirely on one occult would be different and much more detailed.
Thank you for this breakdown! I always greatly appreciate the attention you give to how new content might interact with or be similar/different to existing content, and the way you can see clearly through hype, as I am capable of neither of these things.
Well this looks more promising than I expected- still very sims 4 but effortful sims 4. I wish the wolves didn’t look so…off. Their design and their movements look so janky, I guess at least it’s better than Weddings.
After personally playing with the pack for a bit now, I just want to state, a lot of the early traits, kinda make Rags to Riches challenges trivial. Who needs a toilet or shower when your sim can... Do it themselves. Neither a need to buy or scavenge food when the sim can devour objects on community lots for food, and easy EXP. You can be just shy of maxing out your werewolf's abilities by devouring the Goth's house.
Do you remember when Sims 3 gave you all the supernatural creatures in just one pack, instead of giving you 1/4 of the content for double the price? I have turned off my auto updates. I’m tired of them ruining my mods. Mermaids need an update, as well as plant sims, aliens, and more. EA doesn’t like to flesh out anything when the customers will by any trash they make. It’s a shame
It's very messed up that in a livestream for a pack that is less than a week away we've been made to believe any bugs are acceptable. Any other major game studio that showcased full release DLC/games with visual glitches etc would be ripped to pieces. EA have let us down so consistently that we just take it. The pack looks like it could be fun (for a few hours like literally every other pack), but calling it now that there will be a number of annoying glitches that spoil the experience. The stair thing showcased in this video is just example 1... As always, I hope I'm pleasantly surprised, but as someone who's played this sims for as long as I can remember, EA just continues to let me down.
I am currently considering buying the pack. I like the idea of a dystopian-ish world. I have tried to do dystopian gameplay and it was a struggle to get immersion even with the use of mods and CC. This pack may help. I have to say though that I don't like the look of the werewolves at all. To me they look like humans in costumes, whereas I always imagined them either being a freakish hybrid (for that some human facial features have to shine through) or completely wolf.
I still say they look like a cross between the Werewolf from the Spooky Godmother movie and a Lynx/Bobcat fursuit, its just so hard to take them seriously. The mechanics seem pretty fun though, hopefully a mod will come out to make the models look like respectable werewolves
I’m honestly not sure how I feel about them trying to add more lore, now, at this late stage. On one hand, I guess it’s good, and I always used to love the fact that previous games were packed with lore …. But when it comes to Sims 4, I feel like the lore is often shoe-horned in and half-assed. Plus could take away from actual gameplay and game assets, which already tend to be lacking in TS4 packs. Plus I’d gotten used to not having lore, and created my own. I have a custom savefile where I’ve recreated my favourites from past games, added my own families, a lot of whom have history and backstory, and relationships with other families. And honestly sometimes their lore conflicts with my own lore. Like I recreated the entire Goth family tree, including the Crumplebottom family. For those unfamiliar with old Sims lore; Mortimer Goth has a mother named Cornelia Goth, who was born Cornelia Crumplebottom. She is the older sister of Agnes Crumplebottom, otherwise known as Mrs. Crumplebottom So when they added Agnes in Cottage Living … I was like “oh…” and since she also has an NPC role, I can’t really delete her. Hopefully can figure out a way to assign my Agnes to be the “real” mrs crumplebottom. But aside from the fact I already had my own Agnes, it also bugs me that the Agnes Crumplebottom in cottage living isn’t connected with the Goth family tree…. she’s supposed to be Mortimer’s Aunt 😟
I love this only for the game breaking bugs, nothing else. My record for breaking the game is 5 minutes after I destroyed an entire town through the devour
Thanks for the summary! I started watching the stream and realized I couldn't focus on it for that long, so getting it in a concise, well-packaged video is helpful!
After watching several LPs, I’m really impressed with Werewolves! It seems to work well, has interesting things to do. I like the variety of aspirations and the power system. I’m not an occult player really, I don’t even own Vampires, but will buy it along with Werewolves because it’s fun to have them as a part of the Werewolf pack. (I have the Magic pack…forget what it’s called…I guess that shows you how much I’ve played it, lol.) So glad that we can paint, and do a lot in CAS to make werewolves look different from one another. I LOVE the build/buy items!!! I love to play Rags to Riches in the Sims, and the broken down stuff is great for that! (I’m not a builder but I’m sure there will be a lot of houses and other things created by people with actual building skills that I can get on the gallery.) Thanks for the review, Carl!
im so excited for this pack actually i really hope it doesnt immediately break upon release 😭😭 the wolves looked a little wonky to me at first but they're really growing on me
Thanks for such a concise and comprehensive summary - I hate having to watch 3 different simmers to get ALL the news from *one* stream. I appreciate the effort you put in!
I made two human sims last night, the guy got attacked in the tunnels and got Werebies, later that night the girl messed with Greg and got him to bite her, she turned that same night and the guy turned the night after, so it would seem that a werewolf bite is MUCH more serious than a sewer attack! Also just before she turned the girl was around a stereo a lot and got the temperment that loud noises increase her fury (despite being a dance machine lol). She turned the same night she got bit and immediately rampaged, she also died from cardiac explosion because she was a teen but I used cheats to revive and add her back to the family. The next day she spent mostly indoors recovering her needs and reading werewolf books and got the temperament that being cooped up raises fury. The guy spent the last hours of his transformation really hungry (like orange or below) and he either kept not eating or it was glitching and he ended up with the tempermant that he gets fury when hungry and can have random "hanger" episodes, which I found to be hilarious. So it would seem that tempermants are acquired similarly to lifestyles; based on the actions and experiences you sim has in the moments leading up to, and while being a werewolf. I don't know how that would affect a natural-born werewolf (and I doubt the sims genetics is sophisticated enough to differentiate the parents' being turned-werewolves, cas-created-werewolves or genetic werewolves to affect the offspring in that way, though it may affect dormancy or skill rates 🤔).
It's nice to see that there seems to be more to this pack story-wise than Realm of Magic and Vampires, as my biggest complaint about Realm of Magic especially is that there just didn't seem like all that much to do as a spellcaster besides learn spells and cast them. I'm still not sure how to feel about the werewolf designs though. I can't help but feel they look like a fan made furry mod rather than an official incarnation of werewolves. Some of the designs in game did look a bit more feral and closer to what I'd personally want out of werewolves though. I also find it a bit funny that we got full on paintable furries and still don't have a basic color wheel for clothes and stuff.
Carl you're back!!!! That's awesome! My favorite WT* moment is figuring out from where the werewolf pulls out his cell phone while nude after night rampaging ( yeeeeeaaaaahhhhh )
This is an option your Sims can learn to try and regain control if they are in their enraged beast state, but it's not always guaranteed they can regain control. If they are unable to, you have to let a little time pass before you can attempt to regain control again. Otherwise, you just have to wait out their rampage until they calm down.
Good and informative video, thank you! I think I still cannot justify the Cats-like aesthetics for the Sims 4 werewolves. I hope the skill tree and the gameplay outscales it. Though if I would choose only based on their looks, I prefer the Sims 3 version. Those weren't perfect either, but still better looking. I really love the fact that the team listens to the community and tries their best to make the game better in that way. And working together with good builders like James Turner is an awesome idea!
One of the things I really whish they would give us (for free since we already have the packs that gives us those Ocults) would be panels like the Vampires' and Werewolves' for Mermaids and Spelcasters (these acompanied with the option to become good or evil just like we could in The Sims2tm.
TYVM for all the info cut down into a short video. I love that they added more to Werewolves then was in the past pack. I'm totally looking for playing this pack myself (have asked for it for some times on the FB page).
CARL !!!!!!!!! so good to see you back for some sims i realy do hope we see more of you again, you are for most of us the ONLY sims reviewer we can realy trust the opinion of , and your guides are the best by far, I found some old sims 3 packs the other day but my laptop will only handle 3 so after installing the base game and generations i watched your reviews of the other packs i had, and went with ambitions. Thanks you for all the years of hard work you have put in to help the sims community , it realy is very much needed AND appreciated Carl
I'm a bit disappointed that the bunker ( with the door) is not for isolation during transformation. That would have been awesome; but the way this works is too.
Hey Carl ! That's a great video ! Thanks for all the details and your honesty ! I agree With the fact that they should've made a better animation while going downstairs, it looks a bit ridiculous, the transition and the walk style for werewolves is the only thing that I'm not happy about, I love the vibes of moonwoodmill, I'll do some urbex there 😆
