It makes me so sad to know how hard the cast members had to fight for their voices and accurate + respectful portrayals while filming. I hope these stars know that revealing their struggles with scripts/producers/cultural inaccuracies on set is such a helpful and honorable thing to do. It's clear that these actors are knowledgeable and each have their own impressive paths - I am rooting for you each all the way.
Get new producers that would represent the story and the cast better. Obviously, the old producers bailed out on a show they did not believe in. What would a new set of writers be able to accomplish if they did believe in this show entirely?
I am a black woman from Nyc & I was introduced to Kim’s Convenience last year through my sister. When I tell you I binge watched all 4 seasons on Netflix in a weekend!! I couldn’t stop watching. Such a good show!! I’m saddened that it’s coming to an end!! Something has to happen!! The show runners are buggin!!
The fact that there isn’t a reunion between appa and jung by the season 5 finale is a big fail as far as story telling goes for the show...tsk tsk show runners, just like the d&d debacle of got
I am from Hong Kong and am utterly devastated to see the show go. Been following Kim's Convenience since 2019 and this is one of the best shows ever. I love the Kim family and all of the cast. Hoping that the ending will be a reunion for Jung and his Appa.
I’m so sorry to hear this. Eomma’s MS diagnosis and seeing that story develop, has meant a lot to me as a person with MS. I wanted to see her continue to grow and be herself with the disease. I have loved watching Kim’s Convenience. I think it is such a necessary conversation, dealing with the human and immigrant experience. I’m going to be very sad to see it go. 😩
THIS SUCKS!!!! I get it. The show runners want to move on to more projects. But to end such a great show abruptly is not fair to the fans and to the characters' arcs unresolved. If Kim's Convenience were to end on a proper high note, at least make a movie to wrap it up. Especially for the whole Kim family to be reunited and reconciled. Hoping that happens. #OKSeeYou
Still in shock after yesterdays' notice on Facebook. I'm a white senior citizen from the U.S., and this has been my favorite show since I happened to hear about it on NPR a few years ago. I will miss it as it was a comedy with 'heart', and the most-diverse casting in any TV program or film EVER. Good luck to all involved in this programme [as Canadians would put it] and please know I am so SORE-Y [also Canadian-speak] I will no longer get to see further adventures of the Kim Family. Thank-you, everyone.
why on earth do they want to make a spin off with Jungs boss? She's the least important aspect of the show in every way possible. The show only works because of the family!
TO BE HONEST THE SHOW IN GENERAL IS NOT GREAT BUT HIS BOSS / GIRLFRIEND IS THE WORST CHARACTER ON IT AND SHE IS NOT A GREAT ACTRESS. THAT STORYLINE NEVER MADE SENSE TO ME BECAUSE SHE WASN'T INTERESTING AT ALL. KIM CHI AND JUNG WOULD'VE BEEN A BETTER SPIN OFF.
You know what? I think Wongfu should direct season 6 of Kim’s Convenience. Will it be a new direction and tone for the show? Yeah. But the story would definitely tie off well
There’s so many things that need to be resolved like Umma’s MS, Janet’s girlfriend/sexuality, Jung and Appa resolving their fight, and Jung and Shannon’s break up there’s literally no way they can end it at that
Simu is such a down to earth guy!! I mean he went from a guy playing on Kim convenience and a few other shows/ movies to playing in one big movie which not only got 403.3 million dollars in box office, but made him super well known!! And he’s willing to take the time to make another season of Kim’s Convince! IF THEY DIDNT END IT SO ABRUPTLY DAMN PRODUCERS! He’s one of those rare actors who aren’t snobby!!
My favourite show as it relates to modern day society, and old skool parents. Love the show and sad we won't be able to see a 6th season. Thanks for the laughs Kim's Convenience.
So sincere and heart baring. I loved this show so much (just finished watching it all). I hope the huge success of this show engenders more like it. What a wonderful gift to television history and to ALL people of color. I’m Nicaraguan, but identified so much with this beautiful family. Love the show and I'm sad that it ended. I agree that there are more stories to be told, especially with Simu's character. It's good to hear actors wanting to continue with the series longer. I usually hear American actors wanting to leave the show after several years to move on to bigger things and Expand as an "artist." Thanks for sharing.
I'm so sorry the show has been cancelled. I feel like I know the Kim's. This show is a breath of fresh air in a sea of lousy tv watching. I certainly hope things will turn around. I wish all the best for the fabulous actors involved. So so sad.
We need Kim’s Convenience more than ever! How about the cast and supporters regroup and take this the stage? Especially if you have a good working relationship.
I'm in the UK and from an immigrant bangladeshi family. I loved Kims Convenience so much. I watched it all over the last few weeks and it's awesome. I'm really sad the story wasn't finished off properly. Such a shame.

So so sad 😧. I understand writers etc wanting to move on, but I wish they didn't move on & take the show with them. I'm not Asian, but my parents are immigrants. They're accents may be different from the Kim's, but the values & love are the same. My Dad also has a thing for writing with red pen hehehe. All the best to the Kim's Convenience crew. Loved the show and it was really relatable to many different people from different cultures and different age groups too. This sucks and hope another production company picks it up.
I've noticed he doesn't mention Kim's Convenience in any of his Shang-Chi interviews. Lots of talk show hosts ask him what he did before getting cast as Shang-Chi and he'll talk about small jobs he did outside of acting early on in his life but he never talks about Kim's. Must be a really sore point for him still.
I hope he aint to sad we live what we had . Maybe it will come back in a few years who know. But i love what we got 5 seasons so many shows that are good dont even get two but they had 5. I would love 10 seasons dont get me wrong . But life goes on and im thankful for what we got. Ill rewatch them over and over again.
White lady from north America struggling with major depression to the point of only my daughter puts a smile on my face but this show has made me laugh to the point of tears I hope they continue with season 6 and then some or do more acting together please!!!!! The show is gold!

Honestly. Ins Choi is the creator and writer of the show. The show is based on his life, based on his experiences and challenging hardships and heart warming memories as a Korean Canadian. If he decides its over, its over. Simple as that. He literally announced that he was all out and that forcing a 6th season would diminish the quality. So he wished to quit and move on to other things. He started it, be ended it. All of those self entitled folks in the audience that blame the creators would be the first to hate on the show if the 6th season came out weak. Thats the reality. Thank you for an amazing show, Ins Choi. Kims Convenience wont be forgotten.
How is that Self entitled? The showrunners choose not to continue. If they r burned out, the can always wait a few years to give closure to the characters. Reality is now there is a new spinoff.

It's not the showrunner's obligation to continue of course. There were reports of backstage problems. I would love to see an interview with the showrunner's to understand their side of the story. It boggle my mind that the creators of these beloved characters would not want to give closure to it's creation.
@@bunmeng007 ines choi who is the creative director and official creator of the show said that she just didnt have any passion for kims convenience anymore. her and the producers ultimately agreed to pull the plug. she also said due to that lack if inspiration even the last season wasnt her best and didnt hold up to the standard as the rest of the show. so instead of doing a final half assed show that will have mediocre quality because she lost her passion she decided to end it with the recently released season. thats all official statements made by the creators. thats better than doing a half asses, loveless closure season in my book. they dont have to shoot a final season for closure for the fans. at the end of the day this isnt charity but a business. if they are burned out they dont have to return to it. this is a business and the creators are human beings like you and me. if they want to move on evolve to other things then so be it. we as an audience made them successful by watching and they as creators entertained us with their work. its a transaction, nothing more nothing less. Im not saying you specifically are one of them. but I just cant stand people that are self entitled and think the creators owe them anything beyond what they delivered. some people act as if they own the networks these shows run on which is ridiculous.
I started watching Kim's Convenience after seeing Paul Sun-Hyung Lee on The Madalorian, and then seeing Simu in Shang-Chi and just fell in love with the show, when I started watching I didn't know that it had been cancelled, and didn't find out until I was looking to see when season 6 was starting, sucks that it won't be continuing, at least for the foreseeable future, who knows, other shows have comeback from cancellation, this one could also.
Hire new writers. Let them read and become acclimated with the show's "bible" and boom continue onward. Hopefully the show can be sold to another network/streaming service. I'm keen to write and produce.
This is sad. The network of fans, worldwide, proves that the show does have potential. I am in the US and the show is amazing!! Kim's Convenience offers an open door to show that family dynamics transcend culture!!! I hope the CBC sees that the show has more to share and do.
So sad. It is an amazing show. Wish they would do a 6th season at least to have a good closure. Jung was my favorite character. I expected him to have a great storyline at one point
