Ok folks! Get out your HMMW's M151's, your M35's your M1114's and all your other military vehicles! Today we have the setup and testing of a dual SINCGARS ASIP AN/VRC-92 radio system. We show how to cable it up, we test for RF power and do some on-air testing. This is the culmination of several other unboxing videos I made in the past gathering all the bits and pieces to get this together. Be sure to watch my other videos on military radios! I have a series on setting up Situation Awareness and mapping that might interest you. • Sincgars Situational A...

Holy crap, this is the exact family of radios I worked on in Iraq as a 25U! I've been dreaming of playing with these again but knew the RT-1523s would never be available to the public, at least not without ripping out the crypto. Thanks for informing me about the RT-1702, I'll have to look into this!

Cool! Yes, the 1702E is hard to find, but the right one to get. Be sure to check out my series on Situational Awareness testing. ru-vid.com/group/PLM5RUkrumB5HtbGOG4HIO_c_fw19t4R9M

Your videos are incredible. We have our first RT1439 on the way for our up armored HMMWV. Your content is extremely helpful. Easy-to-use compared to the classes I remember from the Army. Freedom On....

Where do you find these boxes of radios? Iv recently started my journey into the hobby of ham and have always been fascinated by military radios/radios in general. I would love to eventually have a ham shack/radio truck like yours. Love the videos and keep up the great work.

Join some military radio user groups! Depending on where you're located. MRCA, MMRCG, MRCG, Army-radios, etc many on groups.io some on qth.net some on facebook. good luck!

Hey there, do you know if a 24vdc, 400 watt power supply can be rigged up in place of the 26/28v power supply for desk operation? I'm a 26B trying to rig something up for my unit in a hurry 😅
@w2hx
@w2hx Месяц назад
I would say yes. The internal power converters may have to work harder but it should work

Lovin this! How much did it cost? I take it that you never have been in military, because if you had, you would know how much damage the average Joe is able to do to those "robust" cable connectors.

Ha! No, I never served. I guess you're right about the average Joe :)

what's the range for this out on the field?
@w2hx
@w2hx 4 месяца назад
According to the official documentation, the 50W system should get 10km to 40km (6-25 miles). thanks for the question!

@@w2hx awesome, I couldn't find the range anywhere. using this info for a military TTRPG set in the year 2000, thank you 🤙🤙

Interesting but completely impractical. How would the military expect grunts to be able to turn the power on, let-alone configure it to actually talk to someone 😂

I think for this system, an RTO might be useful.

25U would help make sure its setup right, but the sincgars equipment is actually pretty straight forward if you understand radio basics. The falcoln II and III equipment is a different story however.

I just wanna know what a dogbone is. Might be a typo in my study guide. But the sentence no one seems to know anything about is 'requires a VRC-92 with "dogbone" and power source.' Plz help, thanks!
@w2hx
@w2hx 2 месяца назад
a dog bone is a short cable with a connector on each end. I dont know specifically what they are referring to, but if the VRC-92 system you're studying involves the earlier 1439 radio, it might be referring to the audio cable that goes between the radio audio port and the audio port of the VAA.
