I've learned a lot from you and just thought I'd say thanks man. You are actually out there doing it and on another level than most people I see on here.

100% awesome. I know u have many aspects of the install scattered amongst your many videos, but this video level of detail from the post layout, holes, concrete fill and driver for t when that applies, and this video info would be so fun to learn the tips and tricks. Also, you’ve talked about it a couple times, but using your solar device and math to ensure arrray does not shade the other arrays would be a huge blessing. I really enjoy your videos. Would Like an update with the new shop/office finished. U did the mostly finished up stair office space but to see it all done would be fun. Thank you for being awesome with your videos Scott!!!

We just got one of these last week. Haven’t tried them out yet, but that extra reach will be really handy.

Man I wish i had thought about those mini clamps when I installed mine. The Sinclare clamps were the most difficult thing about the system. Had a Harbor Freight Bauer cordless Socket for the install which was priceless. Strings don't work, at least not for me. I had to end up redoing it by sight similar to what you suggested.

Good video, Scott. Are those Sinclair clamps ok to use in areas that require the highest hurricane rating as well?

You directly bolted to the Sinclair purlin one time on Sinclair's suggestion, and it worked nicely. Looks like you've went away from that. I suspect you have a lot of stock of purlin and then panels vary, so hard to have the custom matchup.
@engineer775

It's the panel variation that makes direct high difficult. Some customers have already purchased their panels. The clamping system provides the most flexibility.

Great video as always. In Ontario we need to make the array PV wiring in-accessible to comply with the electrical code. Typically this is done with different types of mesh with under 1/2” holes. Works OK but doesn’t look the greatest. Has anyone seen different approaches for this?

Sinclair includes a Code compliant system of plastic covers for the PV wiring with their mounts.

Great tips. The galvanized steel posts pounded into the ground. Any idea of the estimated lifespan before coating breaks down and steel rusts and fails?

Longer than the system will be operational.

Thanks for the video, i have been trying to build a 38 panel setup do you have any tips o hanging the upper row of panels with a fixed tilt system i had to adjust the system to 5 degrees to get access to hang my purlins

Would a drill driver with a clutch set appropriately work as well as that 12V ratchet?
@scotthunt584
@scotthunt584 8 месяцев назад
I do not think it would work as well. You would still have to hand tighten. And the drill limits your reach

Do you know if they make EMP proof solar panels?
@RobertSchmitt-u7l
@RobertSchmitt-u7l 8 месяцев назад
They could make bifacial panels with 1 pane of glass. They just use the same clear silicone potting compound, and then lay an thin acrylic thin backer sheet over it. It would be a process, to get out air bubbles, but I think it can be made to work, and it would make bifacials as easy and light, and resource efficient as any conventional panel. Or just use a clear sheet instead of white or black one. Makes percet sense, because, bifacials are actually too heavy. They will be a liability to roof istall and they will add too much weight to a roof I think. But also I think really all panels should be the flexibile plastic type, so they store compact, have low profiles, can be mounted flat to roofs really as they are perfectly water tight, still, There are better solutions to the panels of today.

You often show or refer to pdb’s. Do you sell them or have a recommended brand or supplier?
@bwillan

I suspect you are referring to power distribution blocks.

Sourcing Power Distribution block can be like sourcing Hen's teeth sometimes. We stock up and sell them to our customers would purchase systems.
