Sinead said she shaved her head because she REFUSED to be the typical pretty girl in the record industry . Her notorious SNL performance with the photo of the Pope Was a blessing in the end , she said , because she could be free of the music industry's expectations . The photo of the Pope she tore up had belonged to her abusive drug addicted mother . Even after all the abuse she suffered at the hand of her mother she LONGED to see her and be with her again in the afterlife . The freedom and intense emotion in her performance always reminds me of Janis Joplin although they were 20 years apart. You should try a live version of Troy or one of the other songs she wrote herself. She was a completely genuine person who explored fearlessly and never sold out. She shaved her head because the record company wanted to sell her sex appeal. Creative problem solver!

Yeah, Sinead was a Protest Singer, she may have jeopardized her 'American' career but Hypocritical America was boo-ing her without really even knowing why. Sinead spoke directly to the American audience, [& anyone else watching], about the Catholic Churches & the Blood they carry on their hands. "They're" a bunch of Sick, Lying Paedophiles & Sinead called them out for their "Demonic, Sexual-Predators" ways!
