haha, last time we kids dun call chongpang, we said lets go "central", that time dun hv northpoint yet) The legendary Chong Pang bookstore was there at the corner then there was Big Bookshop opp chongpang where the KFC is. After school hang out there 😂
Hahaha. I totally know what you mean. "Central" means different locations to different people. When I was much younger, "central" meant Clementi Town Centre. Thanks for sharing some of the prominent landmarks in Chong Pang. I miss the Big Bookshop brand. Sad to see such business go away. By the way, what does the Chong Pang bookstore sell? Textbooks or manga?
@@DiscoveryWalkingToursTV the actual name was Chung Nan Bookstore ... they sell stationeries and school books. Year end always have to Q up long² w book list 🤣
@@gegerl12345 🤣 Oh goodness. Thanks for the memories. I remember going section by section to select the items needed for the new school year. Super stressful for my mom 🤣 Sometimes don't need to buy certain books because my older cousins will have them and I can use them. Is the bookstore still there?
Dunno why the PAP leaders want to build a new Chong Pang Integrated Development (CPID) when mos residents there prefer these old school shops and affordability.. whats the point putting all these shops and hawker centres inside this new CPID building to show PAP faces in the building or what. .. for politics?

Haha. Singaporeans actually form 20% of my audience. And also based on stats, Singaporeans are the ones that drives the initial views. If no sg people click and watch, RU-vid thinks its a lousy video and doesn't bother to spread it to other audiences. For the longest time I haven't really filmed neighbourhood spots, because I assume no singaporeans interested 😂
@@ansariaden Thanks Affan 😄 Hope more Singaporeans will come on board and be proud that viewers from other countries are interested in understanding and seeing more of Singapore and its everyday life 😄
I must be so suaku to only be hearing of Chong Pang today. Gotta Google search it, and only then I realize it's around Yishun (right?). Nice to know new area, thanks to you. It's nostalgic to see the traditional retail shops and people watching. It must not be easy filming during rainy days, having to hold camera and stuff, and umbrella on top of that. Appreciate it.
Believe me. It was only by filming all these walks did I also learn about these neighbourhoods. During the 2nd half of this video, that short stretch of shophouse along Sembawang Road? It was my first time there as well. You will be surprised how much of Singapore I haven't seen before. It's my hope before I cannot walk anymore, to have covered all of the prominent locations in Singapore 😉 Yeah rain walks are totally not my things 😂☔ I keep on worrying I drop my camera or get it wet. Some parts you can even hear me hitting the microphone as I juggle with the umbrella, camera and microphone 🎤☔📸😄
@@DiscoveryWalkingToursTV Really ah? Now, that kinda surprise me. I hope you can do that for a long, long time too. Maybe even more vids outside Singapore when the borders open.. Hehe. Ahah~ I have to rewatch and see if I notice the sound. It is more cumbersome for the shooting process, I know, but to viewers.. scenes shot in rainy weather bring about a different type of feelings, I guess. Kind of nice, in fact 😄.
@@BlueWithoutBiu Yup I agree. Rainy walks do bring about a different vibe 😄I think Ambient Walking does alot of rainy walks on his Singapore channel. You can go check him out to see if rain walks are your type 😄
_Another fine walk at Chong Pang, albeit in rainy weather Alan. Good to know you are uploading new videos every couple of days. It will satisfy your new subs and probably mean increments in your monetization payouts.__17:14__ Here I thought you were going back to jump the queue to buy TOTO.HUAT! Well done Alan!_
Yeah. After the rain in Yishun, had to go to Cheers to buy an umbrella ☔😂 no umbrella means stuck in the vicinity. Yeah I do my best to post 3 a week. A bit shaq to be honest but now got a bit of energy just use it. The monetization wise I wouldn't worry too much, just produce the quality work and the RU-vid algorithm will do the rest 😉 At least now I do the location voting I don't need to second guess myself and ask if people want to see this place 🤔 As for the toto I very sad. Forgot to buy. If buy maybe I win already 😔😂
@@DiscoveryWalkingToursTV was there in 2019 Nov. Just love that country. I make it a point to visit sing once or twice a year. I feel so happy to watch your vlogs. Stay safe and t c
@@niranjaladematapitia2636 Thanks Niranjala 😄 Will continue to do the work and film as much of Singapore as possible for everyone to enjoy. In the meantime, do stay safe and healthy 😄
Haha. For me it was my first time in that area. So I can't say if the Chong Pang Nasi lemak got any standard. I eat the Punggol nasi lemak at jalan besar to me it already tastes the best. Interesting thing about doing these walking tours is you really start to see the many different places of Singapore 😊
@@DiscoveryWalkingToursTV I think also depends on your taste la. Actually mostly the Nasi Lemak I like is by Malay stalls... because the chili is more shiok. I feel like chinese chili not shiok enough.
@@AmbientWalking I am just there for the rice 😄 that aroma is shiok shiok. Chilli not good I can still tolerate. But if rice not up to standard I will get upset 😄

Oh god . 10 year ago chongpang market still same untill right now. I miss yishun. North poin. This place. Full memory for my self. First time go singapore for work i stay at yishun .i dont know when i can go singapore again. Realy miss singapore so much..
Glad to know things currently still the same. Although I heard there are plans to revitalise the area and they are going to build an integrated development - shops, swimming pools, market and hawker centre. They will demolish Blk 102 and the community centre to build this. Construction will start in 2022 and finish in 2027.
Amazing, the same kind of shops as before, the same way to present the goods, same foodstalls - even the rain has not changed over time ... Thanks Alan!
My Wife had a bad experience with a Uncle selling noodles, bean curd, uncooked Chee Cheong fun groceries outside the Econ shop, she was accused by him saying she paid him $5 instead of $10. Please take note when you pay.
New area yet looks like high population. Hope you didn't catch a cold after that wet walk. Thanks for being out there rain or shine. Congratulations Alan number of subscribers slowly going up.
I almost slipped actually after crossing that overhead bridge. I actually had a slight phobia for steps. I slipped and fall from a flight a stairs twice in my life. I am just lucky to still be walking without any permanent injury 😊
movie of rainny day also good and like such a lical place.but you may got wet and hard to walk.. thank you for showing many place or conditions of Singapore.
😄 It was really slippery (didn't wear good shoes for wet weather) but I am glad everything went alright. Had a slight scare while coming down the overhead bridge but I am glad all is well 😄
Haha. This is the 2nd time I been in the neighbourhood and haven't eaten anything 🤣 I once ate before my shoot and forgot to go to the toilet. It was a nightmare as I was filming and desperately looking for a toilet. 🤣 After that incident, I told myself never to eat until the filming is over
