nostalgic memories of my SERANGOON GARDEN SECONDARY SCHOOL surroundings in 1974 ...❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢gone were the good days when I was residing at Rosyth Road.
Starting prices for the original brand new houses in Serangoon Gardens was around S$ 20000. Probably the only housing estate (houses with private driveway & garden) back then with public bus services like route 100 etc. from Shenton Way all the way (1+ hour 1-way journeys) to near one's gate-steps like Kensington Park Road etc.
Used to stay in Gardens sadly now it is not for the better, all houses are now double or triple floors. People parked their cars on the narrow roads. Not like what it was before . Sad.
_Many thanks to Alan Chua for his latest upload, a relaxing walk at Serangoon Gardens Estate, one of the oldest estates in Singapore. Thanks for your effort Alan. Was the heat a factor during your walk? I am sure your "love handles" won't be around much longer. Stay safe and healthy!_ 🇸🇬👍👍😀
The brightness of the sun was a factor =P Was trying my best not to walk towards the sun's glaring rays. That said it wasn't as hot though. Slightly more manageable =D
Someone in the office said that there used to be a large population of minorities in that area. Are they still there, don't see any in this video? Everyone looks like they are dying from the heat!
There is a French school nearby so perhaps there is an expat community in the area? I don't usually hang around here so I'm not sure of the community. That said, the surrounded area is landed properties and only locals are allowed to own land in Singapore
Oh I mean your local Indians, Malays/Indonesians, etc. She added there were westerners who lived there though I am wondering if it was long ago as I did not even see one.
One of the biggest landed property in Sg, my old neighbourhood, the prices of these houses r insane now n also, Sg is too expensive to live in too. This video brought back lots of memories 👍😂
Hehe It's just excess fat accumulation around the hips and abdominal area. With today's Singaporeans' preoccupation with food, it is a common thing to have love handles leh. Nothing to worry about😊
The place we would have to go to after school to catch bus or just walk home. There was a coffeeshop previously (the bank or the thai eatery) and Buddy's (Bordershop) opposite Paramount theatre. We would walk all the way to the current International French School site......seems so long ago.
@@DiscoveryWalkingToursTV To be honest, I'm not into the food there at Chomp Chomp. The place is so crammed and always hardly find a seat... then the food is like... whatever lah. Nothing special. I recommend Alexandra Food Center or Old Kallang Airport for better hawker.
@@AmbientWalking Its true about the sitting. Really need many more seats. Given the choice I either go Newton Circus or East Coast to makan. I feel these 3 hawker centres are the "Same" pattern
The shop windows are shiny and clean. Funny that, we have people from that country who have restaurants in Chinatown who never clean their windows. I was so impressed that it was so clean until I later saw litter on the streets. Why did those litterbugs litter those streets, what is wrong with them? I love the cars.
Thanks for the comment. Which Chinatown are you referring to? Yeah I too get mildly annoyed when I see litter on the streets especially when everything else is so clean. Why would they so that 😒
Just curious.. why do u say it's a wealthy enclave? As a local I think most Singaporeans would agree that Bukit Timah, Orchard and perhaps even Katong are wealthier enclaves than Serangoon Gardens...
@@DiscoveryWalkingToursTV Aiya I kinda disagree leh. Really depends on how u define rich la. Some condos in the prime districts cost way more than landed houses (just saying).
@@cchan4739 Okay to disagree 😁 and I understand your point of view. Thst said, Serangoon Gardens still a wealthy enclave to me ☺️ don't think I will ever able to afford a landed in sg
