It is a first degree equation (form a.x + b = 0, with a and b given reals, a 0, and x the unknown real we are searching), so it has one and only one real solution. As x = 2028 is an evident solution, then x = 2028 is the only solution.

It is not hard to prove that x=2028 is the correct answer . Subtract 4 from both sides of the equation . On the right hand side , you get zero . On the left hand side ( here is the tricky way to subtract 4 from the left hand side ) , subtract 2021/2021 from the first fraction , then subtract 2022/2022 from the second fraction , then subtract 2023/2023 from the third fraction , finally subtract 2024/2024 from the fourth fraction . You can then factor out (x-2028) on the left hand side to get the equation (x-2028)(1/2021 +1/2022 + 1/2023 + 1/2024)=0 ---> simple to see that x=2028 must be the answer . I thought of this proof before watching the video . First I thought of getting a common denominator ; but , that is way to complicated and it doesn't really get you anywhere . Then , I thought of the trick .

Yep, you can see that moving left to right, given a fixed x, the numerator and denominator of each expression march up by 1. So, if you pick an x so that the first expression equals 1, each successive expression will equal 1. Four expressions added equals 4. You can solve this one by observation.

Divide 4 into 1+1+1+1, and turn to the left, we get (x-2028)×(1/2021+1/2022+1/2023+1/2024), so x=2028.😊

@@guptapr observation buddy... And heck of solving such maths questions... Also I'm preparing for various government exam so I know how to beat such question. My biggest hint for solving this question is RHS 4 and it's whole number too. So I just 🤔... what goes in x to satisfying this equation.. I simply add 2021+7 = 2028 (in first) I had to bring 1 anyhow in 1st term .. so fulfilling my desired result 1+ 1 +1 + 1

​@@guptaprx-4/2024 + x-5/2023 (let's ignore the rest right now) If x = 2028, then 2028-4=2024 and 2028-5=2023 And it is quick to see that the others match the same pattern. 1+1+1+1=4

What, if : 4 = 1 + 1 + 1 + 1. Conjecture : 1 + 1 + 1 + 1 = 4 Then : [(X - 7) / 2021] = [(X - 6) / 2022] = [(X - 5) / 2023] = [(X - 4) / 2024] = 1 Let's try to prove it!! 1) (X - 7) = 2021 ; X = 2021 + 7 ; X = 2028 2) (X - 6) = 2022 ; X = 2022 + 6 ; X = 2028 3) (X - 5) = 2023 ; X = 2023 + 5 ; X = 2028 4) (X - 4) = 2024 ; X = 2024 + 4 ; X = 2028 5) Is, X = 2028, the only Real Solution?

Otra posible forma de resolverlo: (x-7+3)/(2021+3) + (x-6+2)/(2022+2) + (x-5+1)/(2023+1) + (x-4)/(2024) = 4 ----------> (4x-16)/(2024) = 4 ---------> (x-4)/(2024) = 1 --------> x = 2028

(x-7)/(2028-7) + (x-6)/(2028-6) + (x-5)/(2028-5) + (x-4)/(2028-4) = 4; each of these 4 fractions = 1, so x = 2028.

I wouldn't say I solved this problem with Singapore Math. I have a very strong Common Core State Standard I adhere too so I can think outside the box so to speak and I guess @ 7:50 I recognize a Constant when I see one . That must be the Singapore in me. 🙂

(x-7)-/2021-1+(x-6)/2022-1+(x-5)/2023-2+(x-4)/2024-1=o (x-2028)/2022+(x-2028)/2022+(x-2028)/2023+(x-2028)/2024=0 So x-2028=0 x=2028.❤❤❤❤

No calculators allowed? Then expert view might help: . .. ... .... ..... (x − 7)/2021 + (x − 6)/2022 + (x − 5)/2023 + (x − 4)/2024 = 4 (x − 7)/(2028 − 7) + (x − 6)/(2028 − 6) + (x − 5)/(2028 − 5) + (x − 4)/(2028 − 4) = 4 Therefore all fractions become 1 with x=2028 and since 1+1+1+1=4 our solution is: x = 2028 Best regards from Germany

That's actually a joke question. After first brute forcing and making an unfindable mistake in the umber crunching, i resorted to looking at the "whole thing" and became aware that all 4 terms on the LHS have to be 1, making it jokingly easy to spot the solution. What i am impressed about is the way PreMath made a "hard way" out of the trivially easy one.

First, it looked difficult, but then I realized that 1 + 1 + 1 + 1 = 4. Therefore, x must be 2028. Why? 2028 - 7 = 2021, 2028 - 6 = 2022, 2028 - 5 = 2023 and 2028 - 4 = 2024 => 2021/2021 + 2022/2022 + 2023/2023 + 2024/2024 = 1 + 1 + 1 + 1 = 4 x = 2028
