OkxyClaire LOL. Okay well I’m 23 this year and doing my degree now, after poly. But you still need to put in effort to try to pass! I miraculously passed everything for my Os after studying my butt off (although I got a C6 for Chem but hey still better than F9). Just know that although O levels really doesn’t mean shit, but you still need to try your best cause it still dictates 5% of your life hahah! Jiayous for O levels me friend~

For me it's the opposite. Primary school I sucked at math, mostly bc I never understood fractions 😂 But once I got to sec my math suddenly got great and I got A. Even managed to go to O level math.

Being Singaporean of Chinese descent/ heritage. We should be putting Singaporean identity first then our heritage/ancestry. It is totally fine not to speak Mandarin well. Firstly, Most of Singaporean of Chinese descent from the south of China which don't speak Mandarin. If you are not from Mandarin-speaking household you will have a hard time picking up that language. However, if you went to public school for 10 years and not able to speak a 2nd language, it is sad. If i were to follow by her logic, it is better to speak a Mandarin which is a common tongue(中文/普通话) in China whereas speaking Ancestral language/ dialect which has many Singaporeans perceive as a rich part of their Chinese culture has also led to a weakening of the Chinese cultural base in Singapore and a sense of loss of an intrinsic part of their identity among Singaporean Chinese not as important than knowing how to speak MANDARIN . Compared to dialects, Mandarin lacked association with their personal past and had little relevance to the local Chinese communities they grew up in. Thus, the attempt to force a common mother tongue of Mandarin upon the Chinese community was seen by many as an act of imposing a non- existent homogeneity and common identity among Chinese in Singapore

@@WTiDeadlyfury Singaporean is identity,chinese is heritage. And singaporeans r known to be effectively bilingual. U slapping ownself? Nobody true born will say they r chinese singaporean but singaporean chinese. So all these just comes off as huge excuse to not know your mother tongue. Lol
