Thank you for this video. I just bought a 301A this weekend. It was the last hour of an estate sale 75% off from $146 down to $37. It’s in a cute little cabinet with matching bench seat. The buttonholer is there and a few scissors. I have not plugged it in yet, but it’s in clean condition. It was a bit of an impulse buy, I hope I don’t regret buying it.
Thank you for the information. I see these for sale and because of covid 19 people are asking outrageous prices for older machines. They start out at $200 to $300. They usually dont sell at that price but I was wondering what you think a machine like this should go for at private party sales. Also is this a good machine for upholstery? I heard the 99k was good for that. Thanks so much.
kaybonette I’m not sure about price, seems to depend on area it seems. I got all my machines at the thrift shops and garage sales. Not a one was over $25 and I restore them myself. But I have seen some high prices too. I have sold a few at our local peddlers fair but for $50 totally restored. As for heavy duty sewing...I’ve heard that the Singer 15 was pretty good and I’ve seen some videos of them sewing through leather but I’ve never tried that. I have sewn denim with my 15, 99, 301 and 503. All did just fine.
I just bought a pristine 301-A long bed in a pristine case for $150. I feel like I got the deal of the century. It has an original Singer oil can, button hole mechanism, pedal, etc. I can’t believe how nice it is. Seriously. I am in Missouri and they are going for $400-$500 and they are trashed.
I have this machine with the Long bed on it. I love it. I tried to put a LED bulb in my 301 last weekend. It zipped, zapped, sparked and smoked up my kitchen. Scared me half to death. I put the original bulb back in it after I calmed down and it works, so my machine is ok, but I just can't make myself try the other LED bulb that came in the package... :(
Mine came from the school so it is a three?. It's too tall and it doesn't say singer on the top and it's just like new it's stencil everywhere else but just not on the top
@@SimplyThirdStreet it doesn't have stincils it on the top I just drug it back out and started doing some buttonholes today it's just like yours only it's two tone and it did come in the case My machine does have the two plug system and that's what it uses all of the original wiring is in good shape.. it's just like yours I just come across it and I saw my comment from a long time ago
