Maybe your threading is not correct, just check if the thread goes through the correct slots as shown in the video

Yes you can use twin needle.. Having a separate thread stand will help to fix the second thread.

Dear Brian Benson, Bobbin thread bird nest has a few reasons, this might not be the tension issue. You may need to consult a technician on your machine as the machine may need a general servicing. But before consulting, you may try the following steps that may be helpful to you : 1) Change a universal needle - reason being, your needle may be bend or blunt but we unable to locate with our physical eyes. 2) Remove your bobbin, and make sure the bobbin threads was winded evenly, place bobbin anticlockwise direction when you insert to bobbin case. 3) Remove your top threading and make sure you lift up your presser foot before starting to thread your machine. Above are the small tips that you need to take note. If the above steps are unable to help the machine, you will need to find technician to help you.
