4:28 My guilty pleasure has been satiated. That look when someone first hears Melissa growl. Melissa has a voice that can just pull you in, and then she switches to her growls and rips your face off. They only response is "Thank you, do it again!" I've been following Melissa "Busy" Bonny for about 2 years, she gets better and better. She and her band-mates know how to make good music. They balance the superb clean vocals with adding the kick of her growling when it's appropriate. Also, she's one of the few growlers that I can understand the first time and not need to look up the lyrics.

I loved Ms Bonny in Rage of Light, she isn't with the band anymore though. A lot of their songs are pretty growly. Some favorites: I Can, I Will; Mechanicals; Twilight of the Thunder God(Amon amarth cover)

A known hurdy gurdy player in Germany is Patty Gurdy. She has featured in a dArtagnan song called "Farewell". Ben Metzner, the long haired dude you know from the Feuerschwanz videos, is the lead singer of this band.

For some reason I focused on your right (left from my perspective) eyebrow for your entire intro, that was fun. Now on to the actual reaction^^ Okay, so: This song is just so much fun. When I first watched the video on my own, I was just as surprised by Melissa's harsh vocals (only knew her from the "Warriors" collab as well). Now I saw Tank the Tech and you equally surprised and amazed by her growls, which is just so entertaining. I mean come on, in the outro she sounds like a literal wildcat, it's insane. I checked out a few Ad Infinitum songs at this point, and I remember really liking "Marching on Versailles". Don't recall if it has any harsh vocals, but the song hella slaps, please do check it out!

I have to agree most people in here, any Rage of Light prior to last year is all Melissa, anything from the Warking ft. The Queen of the Damned is Melissa, more AD Infinitum is of course Melissa (use to be a solo project now her main band) and same goes with anything from Dark Side of the Moon is her side project with members of Feuerschwanz and her boyfriend (the drummer from Amaranthe [another band worth checking out])

Melissa sings also in other bands like "the dark side of the moon" (they have Fabienne Erni as a featuring for instance) and has the raspy voice in the band Warkings (playing the role queen of the damned) : Odin's song. Feuerschwanz has a lot of funny videos like "Meister der Minne" or "berzerkermode but even more serious ones like "bastard von Asgard" (featuring... Fabienne Erni) (one of my favourites , actually) Anyway I am a huge fan of both !

I wish Melissa Bonny growled more - Marching On Versailles and I Am The Storm by Ad Infinitum; Mechanicals and the cover of Twilight Of The Thunder God by Rage of Light which Melissa formerly did lead vocals for, and her featured vocals on Warkings' song Odin's Sons are good ones for Melissa growling (the guy who organized Rage Of Light also does backing growls on those songs with a very similar tone). For more black female growls, a band that isn't active anymore and never got a big following but is worth checking out for your own enjoyment is Straight Line Stitch with Black Veil being a good starting point.

Hahaha! Melissa is experienced growler! First with her old band "Rage of Light", and then in some songs with "Ad Infinitum" (I 'm the Storm and Marching on Versalles). Also, she was guest in two songs of "Warkings" like Queen of Damned (you can find all songs on Napalm Records channel). In the her side-project "The Dark Side of the Moon", she also have a good growl in the song "Jenny of Oldstones"! Hahaha! She is, also, very nice and humble person (she is beautiful) so I never meet somebody who don't like her. At least in my city!

That twanging sound is a jaw harp throught the video. This Feuerschwanz song is also one of my favorites because it is such a fun song. Feuerschwanz just released an album at the beginning of this year called Memento Mori. Melissa Bonny has sang for a band called Warkings they are a power metal band. Something new I would definitely recommend is Indian Folk Metal band Bloodywood and the song Gadaar. They just self-released their debut album and that is in my top 5 albums of the year, even if it's only March.

You simply HAVE to react to "Jenny of Oldstones" by the band "The dark side of the moon". The band is a project of Melissa with Jenny and Hans from Feuerschwanz and Melissa´s fiancé Morten, drummer of Amaranthe. The band only exists because Melissa lost a bet with Hans. Napalm Records heard the cover of "Jenny of Oldstones" (appearing in season 8 of GoT) and gave "The dark side of the moon" a contract instantly. I´m 100% sure, you will love it. The video is filmed and produced by Jenny´s company "Dream Film Factory". So it´s all kind of a family. The brand new second song of "The dark side of the moon" is a cover of Enya`s "May it be" featuring the amazing Charlotte Wessels as the second vocalist and Leslie, the horse of Feuerschwanz´ Johanna as the star in the video. So again a family production.

Btw: the German medieval bands had the stigma that they were takin'themselves too serious, so Feuerschwanz and Melissa made this one (it's a cover of a pretty popular, usually not too serious, especially in this song, German rapper)

For hearing her growling I also would recommend checking out her work with her former band Rage of Light. A good mix of clean vocals and still a lot of growl would be "I can, I will". If you find the time definately check out "Mechanicals" as well. Ofc for only growls the otherwise suggested "Twilight of the Thundergods" is the go to song. But I presonally prefer songs where you can hear both her beautiful clean vocals mixed with her growls as they work as perfect counterparts. What would Mr. Jekyll be without Mr. Hyde, or vice versa? ;-)

I may be late to the party but I just saw this reaction and found it very genuine funny (I tossed a subscription). I actually envy that you can still hear for the first time everything Melissa has done till now! I always think that a good entry point to know Melissa is Mechanicals with her ex-band Rage of Light. It was trance metal then and she perfected her voice in these years but it's still pretty awesome nonetheless and you get a lot she has to offers (the spoken intro, and the ending of it, gets me every single time). A fairly hidden gem that very few talk about (I don't know if it has been mentioned) is "Teardrops". Just her and Jonathan Pellet (again, Rage of Light member) on the piano. It's "only" clean voice there but it's watery eyes everytime. You probably have lots of other suggestions (she's very very active with her projects and collaborations) so I won't go any further. Have fun :)

I'm so proud that this lady has made such an intelligent musical classification, I've rarely seen someone so critical, except the one with the didgeridoo at folk metal that no one had thought of before and I thought it was a hurdy gurdy, silly me, thank you many times :)
