ABBA are TITANS.. Wow what a production.. Technically brilliant They are back to lead the way yet again, They are influenced by no one...Fantastic musicians in there own right. The world needs ABBA right now.
Their music has always done something none other could: hypnotize us into the most positive trance and cut all the negativity out, if only for a few minutes. Their music defines power and emotion. They take all of our strengths and compose it into such amazing music that commands our attention. This has been missing from music for a long time. It’s a breath of fresh air to have it back.
It was deeper than a musical tribute to esch other. They were two couples when the band was in its hey day. They got divorced in the early 80s (both partnerships) and the band stopped producing music. The lyrics say how cool they are with each other now, after all that has happened in their lives. Its a very healthy way to live.
Yes they were couples, and they did not separate on good terms. Allegedly Bjorn cheated on Agnetha frequenly with groupies during the tours, and he treated her really bad. (You can hear it in a few of the songs on her solo album that followed the ABBA breakup. Some really deep scars there. Don't know the story with Benny and Annefrid, but yeah... there were some really bad vibes between all of them. That elevates the significance of these lyrics. Also, If I'm gonna be really cynical about all of it... They were offered a billion (!) to get back together. I think that amount of money could make anybody set their differences aside. "Money money money...must be funny... in the rich man's world"... LOL
@@My2Cents1 if someone is quite wealthy already, why not leave him do what he wants and not be negative about him not making excessively more money ? i also read that that huge amount of money would not have been for a single song or for a single concert, but for a tour or series of a hundred concerts which would probably have forced them to be on tour again (which not all of them liked anyway, especially with families staying at home) for a whole year. if YOU would have "a few" millions, could buy what you want, and maybe have a family, would YOU dedicate a whole year to making more money that you don't really need, by leaving everything and everyone behind ?
@@My2Cents1 Their marriages fell apart, so did the band, but their friendship survived. And only thanks to this, they are doing music again, because they enjoy doing that together.
@@My2Cents1 they were offered a billion to make 10 concerts in the early 2000's, and they turned that down. They've since been doing well with projects like Mamma Mia, so I can't really say that the economic incentive is stronger now than 20 years ago.
Such a forgiveness in one song, amazing, it covers the whole life of them, they still have the passion and courage to reunite, have big respect to them, I,m 73 years old, around the same age with them, cried so loudly when I hear the song, so emotional, thanks for sharing
Hi Dani, I ❤ your reaction; I think it is spot on. I am of ABBA's baby boomer generation (age 72) and for me, listening to this, the years melt away, and I am young again.
Dani thankyou for your reaction and critique it was spot on .But let me add some personal emotion to this song .I'm 61yo in 1974 i was 14yo heard a song on the radio called Waterloo ,loved it explored the Album of that name ,fell in love with ABBA, continued my life voyage with them as my soundtrack 1982 and two songs broke my heart ,"The winner takes it all"and "One of us",these were the break up songs of their relationships, and then the music stopped.I always kept replaying their music after that .Friday 3rd September 4.35 am Australian time the music came back ,I cried and I am still weeping when I heard these 2 new songs ,ABBA don't just play music and sing to you ,they enter your heart and mind ,they become a part of you inspiring you with love ,they dance within you ,possess your being and give you wings to fly into the heavens and soar in freedom and connection with the world , sorry if I'm a bit over the top but this is what ABBA does to me ,I'm 61!!!!!!!! and they still do this to me ,I feel 14yo again I'm living life twice and the VOYAGE continues.
Im 58, but feel excatly the same. This is just Abba as it was for 40years ago. I do cried to. They still have the good Abba-sound ❤My son on 23 has bought tickets to the concert in London. It will be a dream come throu and im looking forward to it just like a kid for christmas. Yes, Abba has it in them. They have faith in us that, we still after 40years, will love their music and we do. I do, i do, i do...❤❤❤🇧🇻
I’m also 61, and this takes me back to aged 14 . Been a fan since the beginning and managed to see them at Wembley Arena in London. Both new songs are outstanding, brings a tear to my eye
Its Abba❤❤❤ the music i grow up to. It started with Waterloo.. it was a dream come throu that they came up with new music. Do Abba have it in them, hell yes. They have faith in their fans that we still love their music and we do. That wonderful Abba-sound❤❤❤🇧🇻
Great analysis, Dani! I 100% agree with your take on the lyrics in that I see this as their tribute to each other as they move forward on this journey. They eventually come to realize that in spite of their trepidation, if they believe in each other then they still have what it takes to succeed. What a beautiful song. I hope you will also do another video reacting to their second release, "don't shut me down", which I took as more of a song to their fans.
I agree with you Dani. I think this is a 'we are back and we are still friends and we are still the great ABBA' song. I am so excited that ABBA is back and you are doing a great job in reacting to it. I can't wait for more.
Super song… it basically builds up and up.. like you say into a crescendo of brilliance.. it leaves you feeling like wow!!! What did I just experience? 10/10.. 👏👏👏
To get the message I think they wanted to convey, you need to listen to this song first, with the video and then listen to Don't Shut Me Down. If follows on lyrically. Very touching and both show the huge talent they have still after all these years. All the magic is stll there. This song doesn't conform to any style, it is simply Abba. It has so much depth and so many things happening in the music, not all noticeable after one listen. A triumphant return from the masters
I had a suspicious mind before I heard it, it has been so long. I broke down in tears when I heard this. When all is said and done, gimme, gimme, gimme more! To hear ABBA again, the way old friends do was like a lovelight. Thank you for the music!
Beautiful reaction. One of the lines that gets me is "humble and grateful to have survived". Success and the fact that they are still so well-known didn't make them arrogant one bit. Beautiful human beings.
Their new songs are melancholy, sensational, magical and completely unreal wonderful. I myself am 60 years old and have been there from the beginning. They were unique when they made an impact and that keeps them. I still have all their LP and cassettes at my old turntable from that time. Legends never stop singing. ABBA has conquered the world again!! Imagine if everyone could preserve this warm feeling we feel at this moment and take it with us in the future. Greetings from Sweden!
Hi Dani, love your way u react especially on ABBA, one of my favourites. I still have faith in you is a great come back, the mic is open the old way to hear the beautiful voice of Frida, and then the climax with the two girls is so stunning. Thank you for react to this song :) ☼
Until now two new ABBA songs have been known, both different in their themes and leading voices And both have the ABBA trademark on their solvency in musical composition and production We know the great spirit of perfection that Björn and Benny impress on their creations, and both new creatures live up to their great successes of the 80s. So the biggest mystery was to know the state of the voices of Agnetha and Frida and how they could react to the inevitable passing of the decades and their possible comparisons with previous classics. And I must also say that they both look very good And in that "look" there is an extraordinary job of caring for Björn and Benny to "take care" of their historical singers, partners and former partners. They gave them two wonderful songs, with beautiful melodies and deep lyrics, but they were also surrounded by the iconic hooks and the appeal to emotional nostalgia "I still have faith in You" is an unpublished song in its conception in the history of ABBA because it is self-referential about them as a group, and it is also testimonial, because they tell us about their experiences in all this time Musically it is a ballad with mystical and epic A stately and majestic piano, and Frida's soft voice conducts and recreates ABBA's story with poignant beauty, with Agnetha joining in some verses to emphasize The sound of the drums arrives (a nod to the mega hit "Fernando") as if preparing the change of rhythm And with a powerful guitar comes that first unpublished chorus, because this time all ABBA sings from the bowels of its history and with the strength of its testimony of life, of healing and togetherness. And in the second chorus, even stronger, it becomes very clear that ABBA sings with the passion and courage that Björn's excellent lyrics stand out, it is like a triumphant song of their survival and their bond. And it ends with a solo by Frida, flawless, with the flutes at the end Also isn't a commercial song (more than 5 minutes) it's so emotional, with a fantastic vídeo of all greatest memories of pictures, official videos of 70s songs and Australia tour ABBA really comes back at high level The world needs ABBA sound
The quality of the lyrics, the range in their voices and the feelings that they invoke is as strong as ever - what a class act! Thanks for your analysis. ABBA does connect to so many people for all of their own reasons.
Interestingly, I just watched an interview video with Frida from 2015. The interviewer asked her if she would ever consider recording and going on tour again. At this time she is 70 years old and she says; " I don't have it in me to do that anymore. When you do you open yourself up to all kinds of criticism and scheduling demands, and I just don't have that in me anymore." Now, here she is addressing those very words that she spoke some 5 or 6 years ago with a change of heart. This could never happen unless they were all on the same page! Magical!
Thanks, Dani. It was wonderful watching your reaction to the song. And yes, no one can do bittersweet like ABBA can. If all you know is Dancing Queen and Momma Mia, go investigate their other songs. It will be a wonderful journey for you. And I'm still gobsmacked that Benny Anderson could write such amazing lyrics in a language that was not his native language. And if you are wondering why all we old people are so viscerally moved, and tearing up, and crying, and singing along and dancing, just think about all we've been through between '81 and now - wars, AIDS, economic crashes, 9-11...- hearing them is like stepping into a time machine and going back to an amazing time in our lives. Also if you've stumbled across a video about creating the new songs and concert, you will have seen a clip of them in the studio recording the songs. I'm not someone who uses the word very often, but seeing ABBA 70+ years old with gray and thinning hair and double chins and liver spots and still they're still able to create amazing music is f***ing empowering to this 65 year old. 😀
For sure! Just made a similar comment above and will also post it here. This one (I still have faith in you) really goes well with their official video as it is so reflective and full of videos and images of years gone and their journey :)) If you can, listen to their other new release also! It's called Don't Shut Me Down and is the energetic dance track filled with high melodies to counter the sweeping soul filled ballad of this song. Both are beautiful new entries - thankful to have them back!
You're such a sweet kind person,I can tell you have a good heart. If only there were more people like you out there, the world would be a better and happier place.I love and enjoy your videos and I love you as a person, you're really a lovely person,I really mean that from the bottom of my heart!.John Guinto
YES DANI, IT WAS A MOVING, TOUCHING, EMOTIONAL SONG. THE LYRICS WERE SO TRUE FOR THEM (ABBA) BUT ALSO SPOKE TO US FOR OUR PAST GOING INTO THE FUTURE I BELIEVE GOD ORDAINED ABBA TO COME TOGETHER AT THIS TIME WITH ALL THE NEGATIVITY OF COVID-19 ALL OVER THE WORLD. TAKE CARE DANI FROM EMILIO IN ADELAIDE CITY IN AUSTRALIA
This one really goes well with their official video as it is so reflective and full of videos and images of years gone and their journey :)) If you can, listen to their other new release also! Such a beautiful song, and so great to hear them sing together again, after so long. “Bittersweet”…a word that has such meaning to the band members, and we as ourselves can also relate to that word in our own lives. Dani, have you ever heard the song by Charlene, “I’ve Never Been to Me”, 1977. Thank you so much for the reaction to a brand new Abba song!! I can’t wait to hear more! Have a wonderful day, and take care!
A beautiful song of reflection, looking back and of hope, a new start,. It proves that time heals all wounds and time gives us the ability to look behind us, learn from it and get new energy to move on. Also listen to the second new song that came out: Don’t shut me down. You will love that one too!
You smiled at the first hearing of "DO I have it in me?". You seemed so happy during the first chorus, and so reflective as the song went on. You completely got the song and your reaction spoke for itself. Great review.
Your reactions are always nice and good, well thought of and analyzed Dani, and they can hardly be better then when you do reactions on such a gigant group as ABBA
Yes, nicely done Dani! One element I think is significant is Frieda's fantastic deep alto voice, when listened to on a good sound system/headphones it vibrates in your chest cavity . This produces a deep emotional reaction, hence so many listeners feeling tearful or very moved !
Thanks for the reaction, Dani! 🥰🙏 Björn's lyrics are always multilayered and open for personal interpretations. The verses are usually personal and specific, but the chorus is often "general". So while this is about them, it's also about me, and it can be about anyone and everyone. I work with inner transformation, finding our inner strengths and allow them to move out outside ourselves and both these new songs could be, and maybe should be, every single humans anthems. These songs are, to me, some of ABBA's best work, and that's saying something!
Thanks for the ABBA. What can I say... Just a perfect song to come back with. You should react to the second song too "Don't Shut Me Down". We had their breakup songs now we get their makeup songs.
The extensive montage of them from their "heyday" past, plus the shorter segment of the "new & improved(?)", ballyhoo'd version of them ( holographic avatars) made the official music video of this song , for me, much more poignant & generally impactful than this version, of whose existence, I was heretofore unaware. Oh well, just a case of "different strokes for different folks", I guess. Keep up the good work. Love ya'!
YOU KNOW DANI, IT IS ONE RHING TO HAVE A GREAT SONG (MELODY WISE), BUT WHEN THE LYRICS REALLY GRAB AND SPEAK TO A PERSON, THAT IS ANOTHER MATTER. THE LYRICS WERE SO GOOD AND THE GIRLS VOICES WERE GOOD WITH MATURITY BEING EVIDENT.
Dani I ❤️ your reaction, clearly ABBA needed to get back together to show the world wat true love, respect and friendship really mean. We all need something to lighten the mood that EVERYONE around the world is going through right now. Reminds us that all we need is faith in each other and everything that we are going through will be better not just for me or you, but for everyone. Greetings from Cape Town South Africa
Yes, this song is a love letter to each other but also, even more-so, to their fans, after such a long, difficult hiatus. At the risk of being redundant, watch their official video - and react to the other song they just released, “Don’t Shut Me Down”.
Being of Swedish heritage (parents both born in Sweden), it’s that accent that has always made ABBA just SO special to me! And hearing it now with their older voices, it’s even more so! 🥰🇸🇪. From a 60+ yr old guy.
I think this is more of a note of encouragement to each other. The girls were living pretty solitary lives, especially Agnetha. She was so burned out from the touring and recording schedules, especially when she had two young children and could not be there for them and with them. She felt like a bad mother! "Do I have it in me"... to do this thing again as it took so much out of me the last time I did it! "I still have faith in you..." YES, you can do this! WE can do this! We still have each others back! Words of support and encouragement clearly.
Good reaction! I think many, including myself, need several listenings to realise how good this song is. And even if it is unmistakably Abba it is not really the style they are known for. This is in style more like Anthem from Chess (also written by B & B).. The other song Don't shut me down is more classic Abba and with even better lyrics. Without question one of their top 10 songs, maybe even top 5 or higher but it is too early to tell as it is at least 40-45 years apart from Dancing queen and the others. Edit: It is rather inspiring that it is possible to do something new at the level of your best aged around 70. It is almost unheard of and the general consensus is that most artists do their best work in the beginning of their career and peak around 25-30, maybe 35.
It reminds me a bit of the verses fromAndante.., the tempo and feel of One man, one woman, the drums from Soldiers, the guitar bridge from the second version of Rockn roll band and the lyrics from The way old friends do. But mainly of Our last summer; in which you can actually hear the notes of the Chess piece you mentioned : Anthem playing in the background of the guitar solo - before they used it in 1984. It sure is ABBA about 1981 Imy, though something completely new, especially the longer build up, the bridge with only guitar and more alive than B&Bs production for Gemini in 1985. I cried when I heard Faith..
I hear what you are saying on how they are speaking to each other!..and I agree, a bit...but what I now hear, this is a Poem to the World because of what we have become from Covid, hate, racism, Greed....ABBA is talking to the World after two years of Covid and still not much hope!!...It is Magicial and Amazing!.....This Song is Telling the World that we are One!!
Hi Dani! Great reaction! I'm thrilled to hear new stuff from ABBA! They were the soundtrack to my childhood. Another band you should check out is Nightwish. They are a symphonic metal band from Finland, and their singer Floor Jansen is AMAZING!! Check out "Ghost Love Score" live at Wacken 2013.
Hey Dani! ;) First time I saw/listend to your reaction of an ABBA song/tune - It was "The winner takes it all!" & I loved it, both your reaction & the video! (I do live in Sweden & Iam Swedish, so No problem) So then I thought I should mail you an Interview with the lead singer Agnetha Fältskog & my bad, I must've lost that videoreaction, so I'll post this Six year old interview here instead, even if it is Annifrid (the other big A, in ABBA) that sings the lead on this tune "I still have faith in you!". So here it is - Agnetha's Interview with (English subtitels) She was around 65 y.o @ that time & 71 now, sry Agnetha (I shouldn't talk about womens ages! ;)) To be fair Benny/piano/keyboards etc & Annifrid are 76 y.o & Bjorn/Guitars etc is 71 y.o today! Enjoy! & #KeepItUp ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-2qpr1F-UONI.html
You hit the nail right on the head. Bjorn said in at the announcement that he knew their first song had to be about them. I don't usually subscribe to reactors but you have won me over. Hitting the button now.
Thank you, Manfred!! I’m happy you thought my insight is worthy to subscribe to!! I hope you will enjoy many more of my videos! Welcome to the family!!! 🥰🥰🥰
