SORRY for the formatting issue of Ren's video in this one. I made the mistake of not doing a test run in OBS before going straight into the videos. Please forgive me, I'm new here and still learning.
GO CHECK OUT REN!

No worries! FYI... he's dropping a new video Thursday... perhaps trying your first live premiere is possible!? He's dropped some short takes of some of the song... it's Far Different from this or HI Ren! Ren has More layers than an onion, more Bars than a Prison!!! He cannot be placed in any one Genre!!! Also... Highly Recommend doing several Ren videos this week! He promised a new video every week for a month if he gets to 1 million subscribers by the end of the month... see his community posts on here! Anyway... the more reactors doing so this week Will get him there! Also... keep an eye on the comments... he replies often to reactors!!!

No problem. Things like that are bound to happen. Thanks for letting us know. I thought you may have done that on purpose for copyright reasons or something. As far as pausing, everyone is going to have their own preference. You're not going to hit the sweet spot for most now matter how you do it. For that reason I'd say just pause when you have something to say and not worry about it.

@@lynzistringer You mentioned at the beginning that this was the first time you heard Ren really sing, well love, you truly haven't scratched the surface yet😁. Before you jump into all the fabulous recommendations everyone will throw at you from his band The Big Push like “I Shot the Sherriff/Road to Zion/Hip Hop,” Or.. “Bongo Bong.” & Stings "Englishman in New York" or even his Callabs with Chinchilla singing his masterpieces "Chalk Outlines"ect, etc. You really need to watch him singing"Man's World" by James brown while busking live on the streets of Brighton UK with his mate Sam. You really haven't lived until you've watched this video Ren & Sam Tompkins - Earned it /Mans World / Falling 🤯🤯🤯

Wonderful heart felt reaction to a masterpiece. Ren does indeed love Sting and the Police. With Rens band, The Big Push - English Man In New York live. Beautiful vocals. Ultra chill vibe. Set on a couch on a terrace one take. Also, The Big Push - Bongo Bong (Manu Chao cover) is sensational. Roof terrace bottle of wine and chill. Just a Ukulele, Acoustic and bass plus 3 voices in harmony. Beautiful. You will love them both...

Hey friends, for anyone who’s saying my reaction is fake/manufactured/I was aware of the story beforehand: I should have explained this earlier, but I’m a singer and musician, and what you’re seeing from the very beginning of this reaction is me reacting to his VOICE. I am very easily moved by a beautiful voice. I’m sorry if I seem too dramatic or over the top from the beginning, but that’s just how I experience music. If this were a fake reaction, I probably would have planned something to say instead of just awkwardly trying to form sentences. I was in shock from the entire performance, not just the reveals.

Everything Ren does is either fun, sad, outrageous, crazy, deep with meaning, or educational. Ren is an enigma, although not a true enigma according to a "dictionary", since he tells us more about himself and his life than a true enigmatic person would, he isn't mysterious he doesn't hide anything. But he surprises most of us with his diversity. His singing, musical talent with many instruments, acting, narrating and performing is just so captivating, it must be an innate talent! I have been to many concerts and live plays and can see that what he does and is capable of doing is amazing with his health issues, the wisdom of the ages, and only 33! I wish he was one of my grandsons. ☺ LOL Ren is brilliant! Never underestimate Ren. He is like a box of chocolate, maybe just not as tasty, due to some of his thoughts floating around in his head. He surprises most of us with the skills he has that can draw you in. And he does DRAW you in, makes you LOOK makes you THINK makes you want to KNOW more. Is Ren a chameleon? A good definition (I googled of course) "The chameleon effect is not a strategic facsimile of a person's gestures and facial expressions. It's more natural. It's a tendency we all may adopt to imitate someone else's voice and physical gestures so as to create a bond of intimacy and friendship. This can be done either consciously or subconsciously". Yes I personally think Ren is a natural chameleon, and he uses that "innate talent" and is very creative with it.
@AlSnoopsReid
@AlSnoopsReid Год назад
I truly believe that Rens' parents have a fair bit to do with his abilities. His mother is/was a vocal/singing coach and his father, although he separated from his wife during Rens teenage years(don't quote me on that though), played/plays with a trio who play 12th and 13th century medieval court music, which to my mind is very evident in much of his note and chord choice throughout his catalogue.
@adam.4487
@adam.4487 Год назад
@@AlSnoopsReid I agree, his parents must have, in some ways, provided and encouraged his talent and career choice. His background, upbringing, in some part his illness, for sure all influenced his talent and abilities. Thank you for comment. ☺
@AlSnoopsReid
@AlSnoopsReid Год назад
@@adam.4487 And thank you for yours my friend. I feel that what Ren is looking for is validation, in part due to the break up of his parents. I don't believe for one second that ego has any part whatsoever to play in his life choices, he is an artist, front left and centre, but one of a very few these days, who manages to put important messages out there, without shouting from the rooftops, claiming to be some kind of moral, woke ideologist idiot. As a 70 yr old male, I genuinely feel that today's youth would do well to listen to his messages and learn from them. I'll stop now or I'll have to break this down into chapters. Have a great day.

As I've read it both Jenny and Screech were real people. Ren read the newspaper one day in 2019 and buried on the 6th or 7th page was a short "write-up" [I guess you'd call it] on the tragic death of two teenagers; a girl, Jenny [a young prostitute], and her killer [proper name James somebody] known in the Neiborhood as Screech. [Both 14 or at least Screech was] [the article ended calling it such a shame] He thought that kind of news [of the decay in society that resolves in such ways] deserved more attention. So, he wrote the first two of the trilogy shortly after reading of them. These few years later he took on the task of writing a fictional story to further drive home the point that this continuing cycle of violence and decay in society should be paid attention to. So, the entire Violet story he designed to fit the personalities of those two and how they are made. Very impressive writing [and storytelling] and motivation resulted in Violet's Tale. Easily imagined they were brought up in separate foster homes. Jenny took on the quiet nature [still nature] of her mom [freezing in her tracks, unable to move when commanded to give up her goods] while Screech took on the character of his father. 14 years after two zero zero five they met each other probably for the first time and a newspaper article on the 6th or 7th page is what became of it. [as Ren has imagined it for us] His story telling has purpose. Real purpose. That is what has him stand alone [it seems] in today's society. [unique as an artist]

honestly , Not to diminish the work in any way .. but as Ren himself said what got him thru his 10 years of illness was his music ... i am certain that thought he may not have been performing or even (i dont know for sure ) writing music , I am sure that his every available moment he could he was thinking about these songs that he is giving us .. when one person devotes 10 years of their life to something .. it tends to be of outstanding quality

Yes, how Ren uses natural acoustics is fabulous. As he moves from space to space he times himself to use the acoustics and lyrical content to the benefit of the song and video both. He times his arrival to the spiral staircase to sing specific lyrics up it. Absolutely brilliant. The artist's fine touches are what separate the talented from the truly gifted. So many juicy carrots of content dangling from the ceilings of the Ren rabbit hole. Just pick something and we're there. Blessings.

This series of performances will surely go down as one of his best. I never considered watching reation videos until I watched Ren's material, so much of his music is new, challenging, emotive, intense and leaves me wondering what other people have experienced. The tales trillogy left me shocked and in awe, also with so many questions, like where did he get such an idea (apparently it was partially in a response to a news article reporting a mugging/murder of a young woman in London in 2019) The way he described Jenny who took on the traits of her birth mother (who was also quiet and froze in response to extreme stress), she was walking home after finishing work (wanted to escape a hard life), in high heels, early hours ..... we later find out she was 14 yrs old .... was she a sex worker? (Lost 14yrs old working girl - a parralell can be drawn to Violet's, her mothers traumatic and exploited life). James/Screech, violent, emotionally unstable abusive .... seemed to take on his birth fathers traits .... I wondered why Patric wasnt home, and then Screech's girlfriend was busy ..... did this suspicious coincidence have an effect on his mood, and ultimately influence his extreme behaviour ... watch Ren's short background drama in his playlist - Screech's tale instagram story (must watch). Violet - sexually abused by her father as a child growing up in a disfuntional home (she was a quiet girl who also froze when faced with intense stress), left when she was 16, fell into similar relationship pattern, which ended up making her pregnant and ultimately dieing a violent domestic abuse victim, but miraculously giving birth to twins Jenny and Screech .... only for her tragic curse to follow them. The kids father Stevie abusive little vilent prick, emotionaly unballanced .... ended up killing Violet and probably was sent to prison and the twins without existing family would have been placed in care. This is a challenging his audience to feel and I think forces people look point blank at the social tragidy, the some of the results when people get caught in social breakdown and how welfare system can fail ..... exposing the vicious circle and tragic influence of domestic violence Rens talent in story telling, poetry is amazing and he truely produced a master piece of pure confronting art. I believe Sting has been an influence with Ren .... it seems even more evident when you realise Stings latter focus on baroque music and traditional instruments Metalhead shreading was an interesting comment because even though there were baroque feel to his guitar playing I also was reminded on ACDC rifts I look forward to more of your reactions

Adding this comment at the end of Jenny's tale thinking if this is hard for you at this point, you're going to be wreck by the end of Violet's.

This was one of the best reactions to the Tales that I've seen. So few people call out Ren's amazing lyrics. The line about Jenny turning to butter slays me every single time.

I can't take credit for noticing it, I read it in a comment of another reaction video... But ren's outfits in each of the videos seem to reflect the title character of each song. In Jenny he was dressed somewhat conservatively, in Screech his outfit had a bit more of a street vibe, and Violet he's wearing the same thing she was wearing in the last moments of her life.

I think pausing to regain composure is a very personal choice, but I already had tears rolling. You might as well drop the tears with us, being professional and composed isn't why we watch reactions. I love when I see someone get real, we're on the same trip together.

Thank you for this encouragement, honestly. I have a really hard time showing vulnerability, especially on such a public platform. I really felt like I was going to cry, and didn’t want to bother anyone with it to be honest.

SO much to take in with this brilliant Shakespearean tragedy. I get frustrated with some reactions when it's missed how he describes Jenny....why would a 14 year old be walking the same street a 1000 times, in high heel shoes? Almost no one seems to catch that. Also, for "Screech's Tale", it seems that almost no one catches that Screech's girlfriend and his friend Patrick, happen to be "busy", or not available, at the same time. Consider why. Maybe they were together? Patrick wasn't home...was he with Screech's girl at her place and that's why she was "busy"? It adds a whole other layer to the story. Also consider that Jenny and Screech were born side by side, and essentially died side by side, one street apart. Born on the same day (2005), died on the same day (2019). An entire family, mother and twins that never knew each other, wiped out by a cycle of violence. An abused mother, a 14 year old prostitute, and a 14 year old thug/murderer. Powerful stuff. In "Violet's Tale", the way he uses the acoustics of his environment to accentuate the song is absolute brilliance....and btw, Ren is self taught on the guitar. Just one of many instruments he plays including drums, bass, & piano.The man is truly special. A prodigy. From what I understand, he wrote the first 2 songs after reading an article about a very young man murdering a young woman in London, he didn't write "Violet's Tale" until a few years later and that one was of his own making. He said that there are 2 songs so far that he wrote, that he knew in his gut were special. "Hi Ren" (of course) and "Violet's Tale". (He was right on both counts imo.) He also said he feels like he has a 3rd one ("Money Game" 3) that fits that same feeling coming out with his new album. He has yet to release it or shoot the video. It's coming soon.

Where are you talking about? The acoustics of him walking around the HOSPITAL? It’s when he gets to that elevated stairwell and does that higher note up into the sky and it echoes and resonates. I think that is a beautiful moment and could not have been timed more perfectly it is one of the biggest highlights of this video, regarding his voice

I don't know who has been critisizing your reaction to this, but I think it's one of the best I've seen, and I've seen them all! I subbed immediately, and will now go and watch your other reactions to Ren and Chinchilla. Please continue reacting to Ren, and his collaborations with Chinchilla/ Sam Tompkins and his bands Trick the Fox/ The Big Push...he has a huge back catalogue of work and a brand new 18 track album dropping at the end of summer!

Also - disclaimer before you watch any of my older reactions, I made those with my brother and it’s a different format, so it’s disappointing to some others because we don’t talk at all during the actual reaction! @lynzistringer I've watched your reactions now. I was disappointed slightly with Hi Ren, but can see from the Tales reaction, that you are listening to advice from your viewers, and that's cool. Fans don't object to pausing during reactions, if the pause is for a genuine reason, and you proved that you do this during The Tales. Just keep going, you are doing great!

If you take notice of when he starts his falsetto notes after his guitar riff you’ll see that he is looking around the room like he doesn’t know where he is. His eyes are wide and vacant and confused. This is him portraying what violet must’ve been feeling waking up in hospital at least that’s how I imagine it. Everything Ren does is extremely well. Thought out. And I do not for a second think that this was accidental. another interesting thing I noticed was as he gets up off the hospital bed. He needs to take a second to literally compose himself and shake off the emotion that he has feeling. It’s so visually noticeable he literally shakes his head and shakes his shoulders to destress himself. It’s incredibly human and relatable. He is fast becoming my favourite artist of all time and 51 years of age. I have been a fan of many many artists in many many genres, I mean I like all kinds of music and as someone who suffers from severe mental illness I genuinely believe that music heels, far more than any medicine can without the side effects as well but the impact that his music leaves on your soul is like having angelic ruins and Scribd upon your ribs. It does not go away after you stop listening to the song. It stays with you forever. It changes who you are and how you see the world the story of Jenny and screech and violet whilst probably fictional does happen every single day somewhere in the world and I think that is the entire point of this trilogy

Great reaction, my lady. Don't be sorry for anything, rewinding just shows you're analysing what's going on and being speechless, emotional, needing a moment... come on, we've all seen this for the first time one day, so we know. I actually said the same exact NO at the same exact moment and waited for the inevitable to happen, not wanting to believe it, like a rabbit in a headlights, just like you.

You are right, nobody expected it… not even Ren. Jenny’s Tale was inspired by a story of a 14 y.o. who killed a prostitute. Ren wrote Screech’s Tale a year later and Violet’s Tale two years after that. He is a wordsmith with his uses of alliteration, metaphors , and brilliant similes to really flush out his characters in such a way that you DO become fully invested in them in an almost impossibly short matter of minutes. Likewise with his facial expressions- especially his eyes which tell you EXACTLY what he is conveying without actually saying it. And yet again with his voice- as the narrator his speech patterns and cadences change between and within each Tale. And props to Sam ( Samuel Parry Falvey) for his equally brilliant use of cinematography and camerawork. Violet’s Tale just wrecks me- especially the part in the stairwell; as Ren says “ he’d paint her black and blue and dark” , sings “ She ne- ee-ee- ver stood a chance” while looking up the winding staircase, you can almost feel that chance float up and out into the dark night sky.

FYI, the first two tales are based on stories Ren had read in the paper, and he spun the stories off of. A 14yo boy killed a prostitute, and a police officer shaken after killing a young boy. Violet's tale came years later, as a way to tie the two together and make a statement on domestic abuse and the foster care system. I would suggest something much lighter, in The Big Push, "An English Man in New York". So good.

His guitar playing in the tail of Violet is unmatched by very few musicians and totally unique to him that riff that he does where is plucking the strings down at the bottom of the neck of the guitar is absolutely fucking mine blowing and the fact that he’s not using a pic but instead is fingerpicking is incredibly more difficult and only an advanced musician can do this. I’m still learning the guitar and I have attempted to pic and it is so much more difficult than it looks. Even the simplest cords are difficult and he makes it look effortless, if you think about his style of music it is very bard like almost like the Bard friend of Gerald in the Witcher and ironically I recently seen Red in a interview referred to his style of music as BARDCORE. Which I think is a totally appropriate name for what he does. It’s modern day Shakespeare at its finest. I can imagine him playing this hundreds of years ago in front of an ancient audience and just blowing their minds like he is blowing everyone’s mind now
