Why does the older fanbase amaze you? This is the sound we loved and grew up with. I'm joyfully hearing again the music that fills my heart and makes me happiest. I LOVE these guys - I'm 64 now and sincerely hope they'll keep making new music until I'm ready to take my own trip around the sun!
I, too, would rather listen to them than breathe. My husband likes to say that they're big with the cougars and as true as that may be (*cough* looks around), it's not just the older fans that they attract, I think it's a really good blend of demographics. Older people aren't the only ones tired of today's music and searching for something authentic and intellectual. I love being in this fandom, I'm surrounded by some amazing beautiful people. Josh, oh my lord my sweet Josh, is the voice that rock has been waiting for for decades. And Jake forget it, he was born a rock star. People like to hate on them, but only because everything is right about them, and they have nothing more to complain about than them allegedly sounding like the greatest band ever, how that makes any sense, I'll never know.
RIGHT,, Why are people complaining about them sounding like people from the past when they are compared to the best rock bands in history. AND they write their own music and it is original they just don’t want them to be good
"Rather listen to GVF than breathe"! 😂 What an amazing quote ☺👍 It's also one of my favorite bands. The four of them somehow found a way to "melt" both melodic rock, blues and folk together in a tasty musical soup 😅👌 - Your wife has a great taste in music indeed 🤗
I think greta's fan base will snowball as time goes by.... they will get more respect in retrospect like many of our hero rock bands that had many many critics at first. The fanatics win out always in the end. They will be in their prime creatively in the next decade so enjoy the ride.
I grew up in the classic rock era and I can guarantee you that this kind of song would be a giant anthem back in the day. For instance, I could easily see this song hit number one in the summer of 1975.
This is NOT "vintage" AT ALL!!! This is the ONLY sound if you wanna play REAL ROCK MUSIC and not fuckin shitty emodeathspeedbalcknuextremeGARBAGEmetal o alternative CRAP!
Josh has quite the range. They are even better live. Saw them in Vegas in 2019. It was phenomenal. By the way, I am early Gen X, and I think they are fantastic. Hoping to see them again on the upcoming tour for Starcatcher.
Thank you for being so positive and complimentary about their vintage sound and not critical and accusatory of them being a rip off like so many do to this band!
been following them since the beginning. 65 yr old man here. yeah theres the classic thang going on for sure, but amazingly, young people like em 2. i mean i got sum young friends and when they would come over they be heads down on their cell phones, but dam, id turn on gvf and them heads would spin up and they would do that phone thang, point it at the screen and they had it locked and loaded!!! so yeah they for sure speak to my generation, but as ive found out they speak to ALL!!! enjoy and hagd
Your wife is very relatable lmao. But yeah they are really amazing and I love that they're bringing back the vintage sound (coming from a younger millennial)

I am 60 years and I love this band, I am so glad that now that Young people had/have a chance to here Greta Van Fleet. A lot of there music style comes from there parents music collection and that is kinda how they play music. And even now the days of being called a Led Zeppelin & Rush copycat band are now gone. They have found there element. Great Rock & Roll band.
My favorite band these days. Metallica my favorite band of all time. Nobody can touch Josh’s voice now or ever. Freddie Mercury my favorite vocalist of all time. Josh and Freddie at #1 on my list.
Great song about taking worship to a length too far and doing things in the masters name that are not kind or loving. Think of Jonestown. Cultish David Koresh-type cults.
I like it a lot. But, I'm a little perplexed by some of the lyrics. What the hell does he mean by "blow it up, to give him all of our love". Strange, strange, strange.
More and more, I'm coming to see this song as a cautionary tale about the dangers of blind allegience to a cult figure. Charles Mason had his followers take lots of LSD ("and the tripping") and he choreographed the orgies that followed ("and the touching") in order to manipulate their minds.
‘Blow it up’ is supposed to mean (Urban Dictionary) take it to the next level. I know that’s what the words say but it doesn’t sound anything like that to me ❤
What is up with the "All seeing eye" BS? Then there's the Pyramid drawing, covering one eye & lyrics about meeting "another" Master?? -Yes, Josh can sing but the Make-up, feminine clothes/costumes are "Try-hard"! [So the boys did a deal with the guy in Hell? -What a Joke, it's just comical!] 😁
Pirates used to wear those so when they went below deck they would switch it and they would be able to see in the dark...Symbol of switching between light and dark and still being able to see. That is up what's with that.....
