Singing to the Lions is Catholic Relief Services’ premiere training program to help children and youth (ages 11-25) lessen the impact of fear and violence in their lives. This video explains the thinking behind the program and shows the viewer how it works.
It can be easily adapted to different cultures, with different pictures and metaphors (e.g., “Singing to the Wolves” in Arabic; “Charming the Snakes” in Hindi.) The supplement and data entry sheets, which are intended to be used with the guide, are also available to download. It is now available in 10 languages: English, French, Spanish, Arabic, Hindi, Ukranian, Russian, Polish, Hungarian, and Romanian. It can also be adapted to local environments, for example in post-conflict situations, among refugees and with young people who live in communities where violence and bullying is prevalent. Singing to the Lions was originally written by Jonathan Brakarsh, with Lucy Steinitz.
