Your songs are beautiful but focusing on “light skin” as a sign of beauty is why our girls tend to bleach their skin. Also, most South Sudanese are dark-skinned, and God knows we have suffered enough discrimination, and our confidence was crashed because of that. The problem with a song like this is that it associates skin colour with beauty and ends up hurting the confidence of our little girls. They think they aren’t beautiful because of their dark skin and feel the need to change that. The saddest part is that colourism is horrible, especially when our men do it. As a South Sudanese artist, you will significantly impact the upcoming generation. Don’t crash their confidence, please. Join millions of people to advocate for equal beauty standards, especially for dark-skinned women.
