Awesome video.... fantastic view from the cockpit and watching the pilot handle switches, radios,etc.... Great insight on aerial firefighting I never knew about. Would love to see more. The radio transmissions are an added bonus. Thanks for what you do and stay safe.

Saw some of these planes in Action and it was AMAZING to see. It was in Magnolia TX, where i live, all week last week and today. They are still fighting, alongside a DC10, a P2, and a number of helo's. Seeing these planes flying in formation and working with the other aircraft was perfection. Amazing what these guys do.

This is my dream job.

Yeah, always know the pilot was the one "In Charge" but they always don't know what is under them. Twice been dumped on at their retardent line. And neither time did the bird-dog mention us (Listening on radio las thing heard was always "Line clear to drop XXXX-XXX") Not like they didn't see us! Aw well, not too much bitching, as both times fires were out/dealt with quickly, by these amazing folks! Love watching them work up here in BC! And we got out alive.. :)

How do I start?

I'm a PVT pilot out of KRIR or Flabob Airport in Riverside Ca. What type of ratings/hours are needed to be able to do what these gentleman do. I have experience working with Loading these birds as well as both DC10's over at KSBD or San Bernardino Int.

What are the minimums for getting into this kind of an airplane? Hours/type/ any special requirements such as background in fire fighting?

Kent do you still do this? I know this video was 9 years ago. I doubt I'll get a response from this honestly, but it's worth a shot. I'm dual rated and have fire experience on fires with helicopters, but I want to get into the planes.
