I also own a Vancouver. I have reviewed your excellent footage of your voyage multiple times, not only to admire the places you have been but also the little details you added to your boat. I am slowly building miles on my boat to be ready in the near future to stretch out my sea-wings. Vancouver boats are truly built for the ocean, and I am proud to own one.👍
You have achieved more wealth than most men will never hope to achieve. The wealth of memories and experiences, something money can’t buy. Your happiest day and saddest day was when you pulled back in port in the UK
This is an example off an truly heroic voyage, and also what you tube should be,a way to let the world now about it. So that said,no rediculous filmery,no chit chat bla bla bla,no weaning for money via patreons, just honest storytelling. Shame on you, vagabondes, delos, doodles, and why not uma....... You have my respect and admiration!!
People might think this is easy because it was on a 28 foot boat. Probably as easy as climbing Mount Everest barefoot. It is a tough and difficult thing to circumnavigate solo. More people summit Mount Everest in a day than have circumnavigated solo since the beginning of time.
Just finished watching both parts and wonder my dear skipper what you are doing now. Is it possible to go back to a "normal" life after such a journey? Thank you for sharing and GL to you in your endeavors.
Just finished watching both 'parts' of your voyage - fantastic journey and adventure, very well deserved. 30+ minutes to see the world and experience life on board wasn't enough, I feel robbed! 😊 I wish you'd made many videos documenting in detail the routine, the destinations, life at sea etc., a bit like Barry Perrins (Adventures Of An Old Seadog) but the younger version. Go again and do it properly this time so that us armchair sailors can get our fix! 😉
I really like the way you have made the record of your voyage. Some great footage, superb photographs, ad you captured many of the feelings of the ocean cruising life, especially the beautiful, tranquil moments.
What a modest record of an epic voyage and adventure. Much respect to both you and Fathom - for your achievement and the humble way in which you undertook your circumnavigation.
Thank you, Sir! Just bought myself a classic long-keeled, canoe-stern 32-footer. Will follow in your footsteps soon. Great docu you made. Much appreciated.
Just wanted to say that I really enjoyed your round-the-world video set - well done! I was so impressed with the turn out for your return - didn't see that coming. You Brits really "get" sailing. I'm from the U.S. - plenty of sailing but I don't think the same level of enthusiasm.
I come back to this 2-part video of your circumnavigation quite often. I love the music in it. There is something so very nostalgic about this whole footage. I hope you are doing great and that you are planning some more voyages like this one. Hope you will upload something soon! All the best mate!
Great inspiration inducing stuff! I can't get one scene of part one out of my mind, thought of it every day since watching part one. it is "jumped overboard for a swim 100 miles offshore, ......... in hindsight should have tied myself to the boat!" Anyhoo great stuff keep em coming.
einfach unglaublich, die Leichtigkeit wie du deine Geschichte erzählst, ich finde so viel Kraft diese Reise um zu setzen, du hast meinen Respekt und es mach sehr viel Spaß deine Videos zu sehen!!! I love it and the Boat seem to be Vancover 28...right? schönes Boot, danke für dein Video
What an excellent trip and what an excellent account. The memories will keep you going for many a long year. From some of the footage it appears that you could just as easily have swum round the planet, underwater, with no need for the fine Vancouver. 10/10 on all counts.
I read your blog some time ago and I'm very happy to find your videos now. I hope to do something similar on my OE36 that I'm rebuilding now. Fair winds!
Don't give up on it Barry. Don't know how you are doing now, but our skipper has had bowel and lung cancer, there are few prostates left on board and our medicine supplies would make Boots the Chemist look undersupplied in comparison. We sail until we can't. Even then I have been lifted on board post surgery. But my wife wouldn't help me get out of my wheelchair to get onboard because she said it could endanger my health.
That´s another great worth watching video made in your own style. Also very nice: the warm welcome on your arrival from everyone as for the heroes of Vendee Globe. Thanks for sharing.
Big congratulations Thom! Nothing short of brilliant. Inspirational and entertaining. Thank you for sharing your great adventure. AL Vancouver, Canada.
Amazing - congratulations, not only for your tremendous sailing skills, but also for obviously being such an amiable, likable and humble person. You have missed to list the amount of parties attended at the end :-)
You made your dream reality. To it belongs courage - congratulations! I assume the audience would appreciate to get some words about your vessel, e. g. maker, age, epuipment, engine. Best regards Andreas from GER
I congratulate you on your circumnavigation. I'm writing this from my sailboat in the safe harbour as it is a windy and unpleasant week. Tip, It's my view only until you told the bird sitting on your tiller to turn the tiller to starboard 10%. I did not think you were able to speak! It's frustrating not to get your personal inputs during parts 1 & 2. Advice from an old sailor why don't you consider doing a voice-over on parts 1 & 2 your tip, I know it will have more value to the sailors out there as well would dramatically enhance the value of your circumnavigation effort. Regardless, you did it nicely. Thanks for sharing, even though it is a silent movie video.
Fantastic achievement 👏 and a nice account of video and photos..I hope to follow in your footsteps in the near future starting from Arbroath. Can you tell me if you came back to the UK during your travels and from 🤔
Fantastic trip, great film, many salutations. I will take a second look at the smaller boats now. I was set hard on at least 34'. How was your health during those years? Any problems? Did you do some work while traveling? What guitar did you keep on board and how did it took to the humidity? I thought about buying sosme carbon fiber guitar for that purpose. Any way, many thanks.
...I am feeling a strong urge to go onto the high seas. ...I might need to get a boat - problem seems to be all the boats I could afford would leave me spending twice as much to get them sea capable according to some channels and then I'll have no money to actually go sailing - esp not without a way to make money while out sailing. I suppose I could do some leatherwork docked up. Absolutely amazing journey!
Really inspirational my Friend. You passed my home Islands on your way to the Azores. Well done. Much respect from Antigua & Barbuda, W.I Before I forget with all that wonderful shared journey. I believe it was asked before, but here goes. can you share your yacht spec and tech used on journey? Thanks in advance.
