I home brew my own beer and im fairly new at it. I brew all grain and you've given me some fantastic ideas for brewing beer... and some pipe dreams of brewing whiskey.

Thank you. Very nicely done Sir. I homebrew beer in Austin Texas and love it completely. Watched part 1 and 2 of your Single Malt Whiskey as curiosity killed the cat, and ... I love Whiskey ... and I want to dive in the deep-end of that pool. I am inspired. Wish I could visit for a week or two to mine your brain for its Whiskey ways and means. Thanks again and post more...

Very well done sir.. I learned alot and appreciate your work... I'm moving into the malted barley wort process away from sugar/grain.. interesting and very informative... By the way, for aging methods, There is another RU-vid site by WCE Michael, he advocates Jack Daniels aging chips. Jack Daniels cuts up barrels and bags them into chips for smoking grills. They work AWESOME.. You can smell the whiskey in any store isle that sells them.. flavors the white liquor nicely...

Speaking as someone who knows absolutely nothing about brewing or distilling alcohol, you assumed a great deal of knowledge for the viewer throughout these two videos, such as how you turned a few beakers and a jar of clear liquid into whiskey...

Greetings Stephen! Love the videos! You create a charming mood and really get across the concept of place with the whole feel of the videos, visually, orally, and emotionally. Great stuff, and asop appropriate to single malts. Just one questions: where is the third episode? Since i have reached a certain age, I'm wondering about aging. Will I have to go the 16 years ro see the fruit of my labors?

Really, really enjoy your performance and easy manner. The production value is quite high and the sound is well developed. Now, having said that there should be more emphasis at the end to develop an understanding of any blending and oaking to produce the final product and of the tasting the whiskey.

Purge the parrot at each jar during the heads stage of the run to minimize smearing. You can use the valve at the bottom of the parrot to do this very easily.

Hi There, I have a quick question.. My father in law distills his own moonshine (bimber) which is actually pretty good although doesn't taste much like whiskey at all. He has been making it for about 30 years and so I am confident of his ability not to kill me or anyone else.... anyway, I would love to get him onto distilling a more whiskey like product. Do you know if there is anywhere I can buy a kit for the initial mix that need to ferment?? Because the problem definately lies here, at the moment he "cheats" with his 1st stage he simply mixes water, sugar, yeast and some fruit based cordial type product and leaves this to ferment for a week, he then distills this in a traditional gas heated micro distillery, he usually twice distills and produces around 5 or 10 litres in a batch. I am just lost at the boiling grain part, what grain? where do I buy it? what else needs to go in with it and when.. etc, etc.. is there not a pre made mix I can add water to which will produce this initial product for fermentation because If I can give him 5 or 10 litres of this, I am confident he can distill it for me and this make me Whiskey... any help much appreciated. :-)

You separate the jars when you start out with a new recipe (at least I do) and let them set a day. You then swirl and smell. It really is a matter of taste. I usually end up with my first 2 jars and my last 2 jars go back for re distilling. The center is tricky I have a special smell I look for. A sweet yet mild smell is my hearts. If its really good smelling I keep those jars as my product. The rest I will run through the still again another day.

@abdallagurashi9566

Yes, same principles, the oil refinery generates different products, and this one is a single product ....... I think The Ethanol boils at 67* C.... If you boiled it at 100* C you will have lots of water
