Tom Mackintosh began rowing at Lindisfarne College and Hawke’s Bay Rowing Club in 2012 at the age of 15. Then after only securing a boat for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games via the last-chance qualification regatta in Lucerne in May 2021, the Men's Eight (with Tom at bow) went on to reclaim the Olympic title after a near 50-year wait in an exhilarating final by winning Gold.
Now in the single, and with a good chance for a medal in Paris, Tom talks about his experience as a single sculler.
