To avoid thermal run away of the switches, i decided to reduce the number of discharges per second. I added a relay in front of the applied voltage and switched it using a L298N motor driver and an Arduino Nano.
Using this approach I can now increase the input voltage to 170 Vrms without breaking the switches. Discharges up to 40 cm in length can be achieved with such arrangement and input voltage.
PS: Even though in this case I used an IGBT but I still named the video single Mosfet..., to have all of these videos under one name.
