Why do some objects float and others sink?
If you've moved on to density science, it's time to understand why huge and heavy ships don't sink.
Do Boat experiment with a piece of plasticine and children will see that "heavy" plasticine can suddenly become "light" and buoyant by changing its shape causing its density to change as well.
Even if a ship is made of heavy iron, it has a lot of air inside. This makes the ship less dense than water, so it floats.
The inner space of this boat is filled with air, which is lighter than water. Therefore, the density of the boat is less than the density of water.
