For years Corpus Christi road maintenance used an asphalt mixture of crushed oyster shell and, of course, asphalt for new roads and repairs.

I grew up in Galveston and a lot of alleys and driveways were paved with oyster shells around the island. I'm glad they are being put back into the bay to promote oyster growth which is good for the clarity/cleanliness of the water and the seafood industry as well.

What a great idea and an awesome program...sink your shucks. Im way inland so I cant "sink my shucks", but I do keep salt water reef tanks and use my shucks as decoration in my tanks, as well as places to mount coral frags on as they are perfect for that!
