Sinoart Takedown Longbow: Chintzy Junk or Best Deal Ever?

The Sinoart takedown longbow also goes by the name Mandarin Duck, Black Hunter, Ember, and a few others. They are all made in China and are all extremely affordable. I bought this bow to see what all the hype was about. It's cheap, but how is the quality? Honestly, I wasn't too impressed, but if you are looking for an affordable way to get into traditional archery, you honestly can't go wrong. I apologize for no actual shooting footage, but this was just supposed to be an unboxing video that went a little long!
If you'd like to check out the bow for yourself, please click on the Amazon affiliate link below. I’ve also left a link for the Mandarin Duck version, which people seem to have better luck with.

I also did a RU-vid review on ours , I replaced the string with a flemish ff string, and it smoothed it out nicely. I've had 30 or so trad bows, and this shoots in the top 2 or 3. Definitely good quick, smooth shooters. I also added a set of Frank Suke custom antler limb bolts and a Big Jim strap on quiver to add looks/functionality and a bit more mass. Now it is almost perfect, for what they cost, they can't be beat! Good review dude 🤙🇨🇦

I've shot plenty of other peoples bows, hell my uncle ran his own custom compound build company. I bought one of these as my first personally owned bow, with the ammo shortages I'm getting away from firearm hunting. This video has me HYPED. Sticks & Steel's comment increases the level of hype. I'm going to buy a new string this weekend before I even get the bow.

How interesting! I just got the pair...recurve and longbow versions and they are also 5 pounds less than the written poundage on the limbs and boxes! I anticipated there could be a discrepancy so I ordered a middle poundage that I can still manage + or - 5 pounds. The Chinos may do this on purpose as probably most people think they can handle a certain poundage, then they try it and find out they're over- bowed, end up sending it back, so to avoid all this hassle...they probably mark it lower than it really is, especially if you consider over time it may "settle in" a few pounds lighter than when new. Thanks for the great video! Cheers!

I bought the recurve version as a first bow and have had a blast shooting with it. As I get better form the groupings improve so the bow shoots to your level. Another shooter on the range bought this longbow version and had trouble with the limb tips breaking. The riser is comfortable like you say.

Thanks for this! Mine ended up having much smoother and even fittings which I'm happy about because I really loved the riser on this one. It's my first bow so I was actually here to try and find out what the heck those clips were for lol. Very very beginner. No scale so I can't measure the draw weight, which is rough because I'm so out of shape I don't actually know if it should be easy to draw or not. But I'm doing a bit every day so hopefully I can get more comfortable with it. Exercise was part of the reason I got it after all :)

Yep. They shoot well. This one was a dud. I later reviewed an Obert labeled model (same exact bow) and it was fantastic. If you get one that had some modicum of quality control, it’s an amazing bow.

That’s awesome. I ended up reviewing an “Obert” branded one later and it was a wonderful bow. Night and day difference in quality compared to this one. The video is somewhere here on my channel if you dig around. I’m convinced it all depends on who built the bow and on what production line on which day.

Dyneema string usually comes with a Black Hunter 'brand'. I own 4 Black Hunters and have eight total Dyneema strings including spares. They are Asian design and NOT Dacron. I actually prefer Dyneema over fast flght strings for longbow shooting due to smoothness and less shock and still plenty of speed.

So in your honest opinion would a 62 inch Samick Sage or one of these be better for a first timer, who is vertically challenged at only 5 foot even?🤔
@bowhuntingsoul2149
@bowhuntingsoul2149 3 года назад
beaglegod1 I think so. Or you can order one of the mandarin Duck versions imported by Lancaster Archery (forgot the name but it goes by Galaxy Ember I think). Those have been inspected by Lancaster and you’re getting a more consistent product.

Same experience here. Putting a new custom string on it reduced the vibration a great deal. Aside from that it hasn’t been anything better than mediocre. All the raving reviews had me going for a minute. Maybe inconsistencies or maybe only meant for certain hands?🤷🏻

Just replace the string with real Sinew. Not the synthetic stuff. Traditionally we Western Natives use black ash with sinew. For long bows and recurve bows. The Ash is strong wood and abit flex on it and always comes back to shape. The sinew is where you get the launch. Because when pulled it doesn’t break easy and is very tough material. Elders in my area when they were younger they still have them today

I bought 2 Chinese bows sold by amazon both Defective. Both were supposed to be 55# The Siege SAS 55# compound bow weight was 51pounds. And the iGLOW 55# compound bow was 47 pounds. They look great but they are a waste of your time and money* Buy 70's-80's and early 90's bows they were made well. Buy Bear, PSE, Hoyt, Ben Pearson and their were a few other good bows,......and not so good bows. I just put them on a bow scale and I know,....Defective* I put a 70's bow on the scale 54 pounds after, not bad after 50 years and it go's to 60 or 70 pounds too. Buy something great a 80's bow. I'm sure with my opinion and many others you will not get scammed by china.

If you buy the version from say Lancaster Archery Supply, you’ll get a QC’d version and know what you’re going to get. Plus you can try longbow or recurve limbs. That said the Samick Sage is always a good bet. Honestly it’s a style preference.

I believe some of the Chinese bow weights are measured at 30" not a U.S. 28" amo
@JW-bw8nj
@JW-bw8nj 3 года назад
Maybe so, but his limbs are marked 50lbs @ 28" yet pulled 45 lbs @ 28. I ordered a 55 lb recurve from AF Archery a few years ago that was marked 55 @ 28" but scaled 46.5 lbs @ 28", so I know this guy's pain. Fortunately, the 55 lb Black Hunter longbow I just got in the mail a few days ago actually did measure 55 lbs @ 28" 👍🏻

@bowhuntingsoul2149

Robert Crowther absolutely with more tuning it’d be fine. I just knew I wasn’t going to keep it so I didn’t spend any more time tweaking. If someone wanted s cheap “project bow”, then it’d be a good candidate. Seems with this and the other clone brands you never know what you’re going to get. One could be a dud while another could be a relatively quality bow

From what I have seen the sino art branded bows are NOT the same as a real black hunter bow. It is a 58" bow when a real black hunter measures the full 60".

Hi mate. What's the difference between the 58" model and the 60"? Is it the limbs? I came across both on Amazon and was confused. Thanks in advance
@boost331
@boost331 3 года назад
@@searchingforhistoryuk2235 Hi there. As far as performance goes, both the 58 and 60 are no different. The only real difference is the obvious fact that the 60 is 2" longer. I prefer the 60 because that is true to the original black hunter design. Also replacement strings are easier to find for a 60 than for a 58. No wrong choice though really.

I'd be hitting them up for limb bolts. That's pitiful. Both mine were flawless. The limb weight being wrong and Velcro on the limbs is bad workmanship from what I see from other suppliers.
