Thank You, my father was very proud of the song he wrote. He loved the culture behind a lot of meanings behind overseas. The Amsterdam song. Which his younger son and middle son sings it.
Terrific tune, Doug's sadly missed: I treasure his great shows in Amsterdam and even enjoyed Mexican Food with him (thanx to Jan Donkers)...Never to be forgotten!
I remember 1959 at the VFW san Antonio tex. sunny & the sunglows were playing and was Doug sahm one end of the hall was sunny the other end was Doug at that time sunny was # 1 every body was on sunny end!!!!
The grooviest. We produced a documentary on Doug Sahm called Sir Doug & The Genuine Texas Cosmic Groove.. It's coming back on Nov 6th in honor of Doug's birthday :)
@RasMajnouni In 1984& later I had no possible accsess to recorded music. The album had 12 "snapshot" photos on the LPcover it wasn't a disc.Besides Sir Doulas recorded from the age of 12,the 50'2 & 60"s he put out tons of LP's.It stands to reason that some records did not sell, were stopped & later again released in 1984.Being 21 in 1974 I heard it so many times.

...take a real slow boat to Helsinki town, too bad I was too young to realize who the great Doug Sahm was, otherwise I'd have taken the real quick bus over there. (35 mins from my door to Helsinki.) Skitbra!
+telstar9 Geographically speaking Helsinki isn't in Scandinavia. However, Helsinki and Finland in general have such strong historic, cultural and geopolitical binds to Sweden that people usually think of it as part of the Scandinavian countries. After all, Finland has a lot more in common with the Scandinavian counties than with Russia or Estonia.
+telstar9 Well I guess the Swedish tend to be more socially open and friendly while the Finns are more shy and introverted. But there are lots of similarities too. You can easily walk on the streets of Stockholm or Helsinki and coudn't tell which of the cities you are visiting. After all, Finland was 700 years part of Sweden and that has left it's traces in many things in Finnish lifestyle. I am Finnish myself.
There are people who seem to be obsessed with the idea that Finland is not part of Scandinavia and they must tell it to everybody. That's because there are no people speaking Swedish in Finland or perhaps because Finland has no historical connection with eother Scandinavian countries. Get a life! Or, come to think of it, don't get. I don't care.
Why is this so obscure? I really want an MP3 of this, but I'm not having much luck finding it for sale. Bear Family Records needs to get on the case. Anybody that can put me on the scent of a well mastered digital track, please help a fella out.
