The fact that people say "I don't want to vote for Labour or the Tories" and then choose Reform over HIM says a lot about the character of the British public.
By "British public" you, of course, mean something like 17% of those intending to vote, right? So, working on the basis of there being about 47mil adults, and turnout in the election being poor, perhaps around 60%, and roughly 15% of those who vote picking Reform.... You're looking at, perhaps, 4-5mil people, out of a population of roughly 69mil, voting for Reform. That's hardly the 'British public', is it? Though, given the incessant media coverage of Farage and his moron followers, I suppose you could be forgiven for feeling otherwise.
We’re not voting for a dad. If you want character, take a look at the post office issue he was complicit in. Ed seems a lovely bloke, but the answer to our cries he is not.
I would love to have been able to vote for the Lib Dems but unfortunately Ed doesn't know what a woman is and supports gender ideology over women's rights. Reform was my only option.
Same. At 14:10 when he spoke about hoping that he made his parents proud, his emotion came across as genuine and relatable - and I don't think I've ever been able to say that about a politician. That's what we need more of in politics, humanity. Not these culture wars, attacking others for thinking differently to us, or drawing lines in the sand in an "us vs them" way - we've always been able to get along and be civil before, why has it changed now? Bringing back some intelligence, decency, and civility will require intelligent, decent, and civil people, who will be able to push the levels even higher by being relatable and human.
Watch his showing at PO enquiry ! He’s not fit to lead this country or the LDs. He’s complicit and the damage the LDs did in that coalition govt to the country was astronomical.
Try telling that to the postmasters that he hung out to dry during the horizon scandal. Went into hiding for weeks after exposure, instead of doing the decent thing and apologising. He's a self centred politician...and that makes him the wrong man for the job.
@@cmcc3721 He’s really not like that. I’ve met him. He’s quite the opposite really. He lives in a semi-detached house, not a london townhouse like many of the tories. He’s just a normal bloke.
@@theodraws5887 he really IS. It's all there in black and white. Anyone can look it up. I'm beginning to think that you're involved in his campaign tbh. I mean, nobody with nothing invested would bother to try and deny such definitive facts. It was only a few months ago after all
@@cmcc3721 I’m not a big fan of the Lib Dem’s but to be fair to ed davey at the point he was post office minister Fujitsu and the post office were still lying that the system was fine! It was only computer weekly and the private eye that were telling people what we now know!
I voted for the Lib Dem’s in 2010. It was my first election and felt badly burnt when they dropped the tuition fees pledge. I protested at Demolition 2010 and was in Parliament Square the day the vote went through. As I’ve got older and in reflection - and I still think the wording of the pledge was a huge blunder - I’ve come to realise that a coalition is exactly that and neither the Tories nor the Lib Dem’s got to implement their whole manifesto. Some on the left feel they should’ve gone in to coalition with Labour but I do agree with the notion that, as they weren’t the larger party, that it would’ve constitutionally been wrong. In 2015 I abandoned them and voted for my local MP Ken Clarke. Looking back now it’s clear that they blunted a lot of the Tories worst instincts and the issues that they got the Tories to compromise on have been some of the few positives of their 14 years in power. Policies that I don’t think get attributed to the Lib Dem’s. Anyway tomorrow I come back to the Lib Dem’s. You’re unlikely to win in my constituency but I don’t like the Tories, don’t trust Labour and Reform aren’t a serious party. Hoping you get in to opposition.
I had no idea Sir Ed was so local to me. He was raised literally 3 minutes away from me, In a mining town too, so thats bound to have a profund effect on him as well. I like a politician who can show emotion to, Im not talking Matt Hancock trying to cry on demand on breakfast tv. Sir Ed shown emotion while talking about his family. I wish him well, He did great in this election. Onwards and upwards for him.
Cant believe how naive so many people are, dont you realize politicians put an act on for the camera! They are not going to get anywhere doing anything less, personally i want someone competent even if they are a right bastard! Nice guy my arss who gives a shit, im more bothered about the welfare of my family.
Love Ed, such a genuine guy and would make the best PM. With Labour in the lead, the country needs the LDs in opposition. Then we need Proportional Representation and honest governments, like Ed would give us.
I was going to vote reform. I know they have a lot of scummy policies, but I've been so pissed off at this stupid endless cycle between tories and labour. People are such sheep. I was just going to vote reform in protest. But now I might vote lib dem.
@@paulhank7967he didn’t. This is a right wing smear. He was lied to by the post office and then he was the first post officer minister to meet Alan Bates
He didn't though. There was a civil service cover up. I didn't know the full fact's because people in the civil service was covering up@@fsociety.dat101
@@fsociety.dat101 That's actually not true at all about the postmasters. Davey was the first leader to meet Alan Bates and also one of the first to call for an inquiry into the scandal.
The first politician I've seen in recent years who seems genuinely human, and who cares about regular people! It would be great to wake up on the 5th July with this man as our prime minister.
I was just thinking the same. When he got emotional about making his parents proud, I realised that it was the first time in a very long time that a politician seemed human, decent, and likeable. I'm sick of this "pick a team", culture war mentality, where you're either with us or against us, and everyone is so angry all the time. What happened to civility, and working together to solve our problems? I hope to God that this man is able to bring us back to a time when slinging insults wasn't the norm, or the expected response to disagreeing on a principle. I wish he hadn't gone through so much, but I like that he can be open about it. That's someone for my children to look up to, rather than the now-usual void of morality and decency that constitutes Westminster.
@@t-and-p exactly! Seeing him show genuine emotion was breathtaking. We need a PM who feels genuinely moved to help every section of society, not pit us against each other
I really like Ed Davey, who has got a good world 🌎 vision. Under his leadership, the Liberal Democrats won 72 seats, which is amazing! I liked what he said about freedom and taking on the billionaire dictators around the world. Ed is a good 👍 man.
I see what you are saying about helping poorer countries. But this country, our country is on the edge, and we have a lot of damage to fix here before we can start shovelling even more money abroad.
It’s does not one or the other. Spending money on aid, can improve the life’s of others as well as reduces things like migration so it’s cheaper in the long run to spend the money in aid in these countries
@@fsociety.dat101 the very reason the country is deteriorating is the government has always focused on the short term so what you're suggesting is to keep the status quo
His point though was more about helping them to develop themselves, rather than just giving more money. That's what he was saying how renewable energy like solar can bring electricity to the world's poorest.
Someone with some much caring experience is bound to embody the qualities of a good national leader. The purpose of government is to improve quality of life for its people generally and all the details that entails. i.e. caring.
I think it's a bit naive to think you can really undermine Putin by investing in renewables. Besides that, that would also create more power for people where we get the stuff for solar from like Lithium which is from China. Now, I do agree that we need to go for renewables, it's just a bit naive that it will de-throne autocrats.
inside Ed Davey there are two neurons working up the campaign One wants to take the Arabs and the Israelis to play water polo at chessington Zoo The other wants to make you cry
Anything to say about the innocent post masters you through under the bus??🤦♀️ And the £9000 + a year fees for university... which you ended up not answering properly 🤷♀️ The people in the comments falling for this bloke is laughable aha😂
It is about time though for some legalisation or decriminalisation 🍃🍃 Flowers are to be made into edibles anyway. Dry herb vapes are also a safer method. Ultimately having proper clubs or spaces accessible for enjoyers is also huge
Asleep at the wheel whilst the Post Office Scandal ruined the lives of hundreds of hard working postmasters. He also followed their advice not to meet with Alan Bates to hear his side of the story until 9 months had gone by. Sorry isn’t good enough - words are cheap. He may seem like a nice guy but due to his incompetence and complacency, one of the greatest miscarriages of British Justice was allowed to play out. This man shouldn't be in charge of anything.
It's weird how you've obsessively spammed comments about this despite knowing that the things you're saying aren't true. Given he met Bates only ~3 months after becoming a minister, which was already well over a decade into the scandal, on Labour's watch, and then numerous Tory ministers after Davey outright refused to meet at all, this is an absolutely bizarre line of attack. Why go after the one guy who actually met the postmasters - do you think he should have refused like the others, who you haven't at all been bothered by?
Good on you sir I would vote for you but rishi has to go and kier won't stop the boats plus the licence fee thing and the betting leaves me with only one choice.
Aren't these guys partly responsible for the tripling of university fees in the first place? If you increase them anymore, none of us are ever going to be able to pay back the debt getting an education incurrs in the UK. A straight answer on this would help rather than an awful redirect.
Look, I haven't even watched the video yet but, this to me already shows Davey as a good leader. I have seen so little effort from other party leaders to appeal to the masses through a variety of media. What catches people's attention has changed. Media has changed. Media affects politics. It's simple. He's branched out to Lad bible because of their reach. Sensible move.
Huh? No, he said it was a coalition government. The Tories were the biggest party. The Liberal Democrats couldn't do everything they wanted. Btw it was Labour who introduced tuition fees and then increased them. Starmer promised to get rid of them but he's broken that promise already....
The party that lied about their costing? the party where the leader is on record advocating the shift of NHS into an insurance based model which puts people at the mercy of profit driven companies and at the threat of medical bankruptcy. Yeah don't vote reform.
This is just weird to me, people complaining about the people dying in Gaza. Because you never care a shit when muslims are killing other muslims. Its almost like its race motivated. You dont care about the thousands of people who died in Yemen last year, not a peep i would guess, i dont think you showed any signs of trying to stop the war in Yemen in 2020 where 230,000 people died. Right now there are up to 10 fights going on between muslim countries, and not a word about those. Is it about race? Is it ok when muslims are killing muslims but its wrong when jews are killing muslims, i really dont unerstand.
He has about as much chance has Jeremy Corbyn, day after the Election he will be sacked and never heard of again. If i hear his sob stories about his parents or birth defect son one more time im going to throw up bigstyle.
Used to have Tom Brake as my local mp until 2016.( he was in until 2019). He was generally a very good MP. Unfortunately, the biggest mistake he made was signing a very long-term lease to wentworth hall and the problems it has caused.
