A wonderful man and a gentleman he’s worked so hard to get were he is. I didn’t agree with his comments about James Bunt. I’ve read a lot about James and yes he did go to public school but his parents did not help into Motor racing .He did all sorts of jobs and built his own mini to race . When he did get into racing he went to all the races and slept rough in a tent ,because he hadn’t any money. I think poor James had problems that were never picked up on in childhood, that lead to his behaviour and sadly his severe depressions later .

About 30 years ago, I was on the M1 or some such motorway going north/south in the UK. A dark blue Ford motorcar was being driven haphazardly. My attention was drawn to the vehicle's eye-catching number plate. I knew in a nanosecond that this vehicle belonged to Sir Jackie, but there was a sense in which I couldn't believe my eyes, for Sir Jackie would never drive a car on the road in such a way. Only a second or two later, when I passed the car, I saw it was a middle-aged gentleman wearing glasses, not Sir Jackie at the wheel. I thought momentarily that I should write to Sir Jackie about what I had observed but then thought better of it. Sir Jackie is an outstanding verbal (oral) communicator in English despite/in spite of his dyslexia. Watching his talk at the Oxford Union, I caught Sir Jackie forgetting where he was for a moment because, out of nowhere, he substituted a French word in place of its English equivalent. I don't think he realised this at the time. I have been known to do this myself. Does he speak French? I know he was/is a resident of another country where French is spoken. I speak (rather than write) French and another language (South East Asia) in addition to my mother tongue, English. I am also dyslexic (assessed as 'high functioning') and know exactly where Sir Jackie is "coming from" (to use a horrible, quasi-idiomatic expression), for I, too, understood from adolescence that I would have to focus on a rare talent I possess to do something with my life. I worked hard at it. This comment has taken me over 90 minutes to cobble together here in cyberspace. Do you have any feedback from out there?

Hunt and Lauda, one of the greatest sporting rivalries of all time? That guy isn't a huge fan of f1 but because Sir Jackie made the questions - intelligence comments, that guy wanted to ask a question, I can respect that. Fair play that he watched the film tho. I can think of at least 10 real f1 rivalries he could have a watch of - Senna/Prost, Mansell/Piquet, Schumi/Hakkinen, Ascari/Fangio, Hamilton/Rosberg, Maldonado vs the world, Lauda/Enzo Ferrari, Prost/Arnoux, Pironi/G. Villeneuve, Hill/Stewart/Clark, Reutemann/Lauda, D. Hill/Schumi, Brundle vs '94 Peugeot engines, Ghinzani vs qualifying, maybe even Vettel/Webber. Can anyone come up with some less obvious? Hope you're all well and good.

The worst time in F1, from a spectator point of view, was when Schumacher was winning everything between 2000 and 2004. 2000 was OK, as it was not certain, and Mika was still up there. 2003 was OK, when Kimi or Montoya could have won. Otherwise it was so dull...

Stewart claims that the Ford DFV 3 l.itre engines produced equal competition and equivalence in motor racing with only about a 6hp difference due to inconsistent machining and tools. Nonsnese in the entire Climax V8 (1962-66) and Ford DFV (1968-1982) there were effectively three grades of Climax V8 ond Ford V8 DFV . In 1970 Stewart , Ridn't and Hulme had super cosworth with 15 hp, half a second advantage on the 2.5 Brand Hatch or Hollands circuit. In 1976-7 James Hunt, Mario Andretti and Jody Schekter had the super coswoth which then gave 30 hp more than their team mate Jochen Mass. Gunnar Nilsson and Patrick Depaillier who was actually so much a better driver than Jody that he actually outqualified and outraced Joddy. Jochen Mass and Gunnar didn't have a chance in comparison with Hunt and Nilsson ads Keith Duckworth said they had totally inferior engines. Jochen Mass was totally robbed and his vicotry in the 1977 F@ race at Nurburgring over Rosberg and Cheever in a race with lap times as fast as the previous years GP showed how totally and decetively he was robbed. Ickx who Marlboro wanted to lead McLaren in 1976 was left driving the totally uncompetive Wolf Hesketh 308C and with Amon the Ensign N175 which was actually the last true non ground effect Lotus but with Mo Nunns third rate team with 2 mechanics on each car rather than the 4 needed for safety and Mo was using backyard rebuilt cosworth, 50hp less 430 hp to Hunt and Andretti's 480hp. Nevertheless at the Race of Champions in 308 an the Dutch Gp Ickx almost succeded in running down Hunt , when he was in the clear he was always closing at a seonnd a lap and if he had caught , Hunt he would probably have killed him litterally because motor racing at the time is a lethal duel and when driver went to pass both parties could potentially kill the others, literally.
