My Dad always loved Sir Lenny, he came from Jamaica in 1942, as he joined the RAF. Married mum, and as an interracial couple they really faced very hard times. They did overcome the probs, had 9 kids and we lived the most fabulous childhood. So good to see a drama dealing with the issues Still a way to go, but it’s improving 🇯🇲🇯🇲🇯🇲🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧
Watched the series it was stunning and very well made. My mom, was a dresser to. Winifred Atwell, until she move to Australia. So that scene was great for me.
I cried watching this show, there is a similarity that black people have in the Western world. Watching this from America, was just all to familiar with the struggles black people have had to overcome here. It's a wonderful show to highlight the people of Jamaica and the Caribbean who went to the UK, and the roots there created.
I am in the US... I have watched season 1 over and over and over again. Please do a season 2...3...4....5...6....etc. soon. I love it!!!!! I am serious please have this carry on...I want to see more. We want and need more. Thank you in advance for more seasons.
@@Steph-gl8hhIt's history nonetheless. The 20th century is among the most substantial centuries of all time - history is a day ago. A week ago. A month ago. A year ago.
@@regwedde I live in another country,so for me it was interesting. Sorry, you feel this way in the UK. But I got the feeling a lot of this stuff was over looked back on the day. So was very informative?
Oh yes indeed three little birds sounds so very nice. Where would we be without the migration of the Cultural Enrichment we have today. We are truly blessed with the Children and grandchildren of these wonderful people.
Very true, without the midwives who came over to start the NHS just months later, more English people would’ve died in childbirth. lol. Where would England be is a great question. Excellent point. Truly blessed!
No colored midwives started the NHS. No mothers died in childbirth due to lack of black help. This nonsense as to the self aggrandizement of blacks should be fostered, it is a distortion of history. Brenda
This is a programme I shall very much look forward to watching but I do hope it has a balanced view of history. Because I do wish that influential people born from the Windrush generation, such as Sir Lenny, would be brave enough to admit that many who came WERE welcomed and were helped to integrate into British society. My Nan lived in Bermondsey, South London and took in two brothers. My Grandad found work for them in the Surrey docks. They stayed for a year and then moved to North London when their third brother arrived. And yes some people were hostile but not everybody. However, they never forgot my Grandparent's kindness and even attended my Grandad's funeral when he died in 1964. Sadly though this is not what the main stream media and society in general want reported as it goes against their 'all whites are racist' agenda. A shame as if Geoffrey and Patrick (the two brothers my grandparents took in) were still alive and gave their accounts of how things were for them, then a very different story would be told.
Some people were hostilem because they were never asked if they wanted this. Just as we see today with mass immigration. If there were a referendum it would take a lot of air out of that sort of thing (although we'd never vote for it to begin with).
That is not true, we know all were not hostile and our grandparents definitely told us this, but sadly it doesn't outweigh the bad treatment by some and that story also should be told. I have no doubt that both sides will be included.
I believed Sir Lenny Henry would do himself and us very proud from the begining of his career. His natural talent for comedy is sublime and this world we live in the UK would be so dismal if he were not in it. BRAVO LEN ❤❤❤
We done to Lenny Henry for doing this Drama my Parents came over in the Sixties and struggled they got no help or guidance from any sources they had to make their enquiries to find a place to live and find jobs. These people who come in this Country now get places to live get hand out from the system.
Where's the diversity that Henry bangs on about then ?? Oh, it's ok if it's the other way around isn't it ? Nothing against any race of people but white bashing seems to be very acceptable these days.
How diverse, no white people when this racist is concerned , if only he showed the same diversity I’m expected to show him. I wonder how diverse a Black Country like Uganda is towards white people?
Go to Uganda and see how foreigners are treated: white people are given red carpet treatment, many of the Indians that Idi Amin expelled returned and are prospering again in business. There are many British expats working in Uganda, they are living there very comfortably. You need to go there and see for yourself before you make such igorant and ill informed comments. (from a British-Ugandan)
Quite clearly three little birds based on Windrush lies please look at the true facts of what happened with the Wind Rush we never invited them over here just another lie from Lenny Henry
Where are you from, the truth clearly hurts, the windrush was invited hear., treated badly by the establishment, they too created the hostile environment for those people,, they help to rebuild this country in every way,,you can say its all lies. but we know uts fact , thank you Sir Lenny you are wonderful, can't wait to see 3 little birds it won't disappoint.
