I’m out of breath just watching. It’s so much fun isn’t it? This is how people kept healthy- fast dancing, lots of exercise!

its danced corner style" here by the end dancers but sometimes its done" family style" where the whole line does the move, this then became known in the colonies as the virginia reel and danced to what tunes they had or could get !

IF you watch Scrooge from 1951 with Alistair Sim in it- they play this at Fezziwigs Ball.

Also in my favorite version from the 1980's starring George C. Scott! Though I wish the scene was longer. The cameraman's ending shot of the dance when the fiddle player dances through has become quite the family joke, too. We all live in different states now, but every Sunday before Christmas Eve, we watch the George C. Scott version and send a picture of that scene to the whole family.

That looks like so much fun! I wish we had a Jane Austen Ball in Orlando, Florida! Aw, I considered going to next year's event in California in January but I checked the website and it's already sold out! :(

Where did this take place? Are these people members of a reenactment society?

It's a LOT more fun if you have a lot of young people going fast... XD
