He's an incredible man. He feels like crap but here he is with a Tux on looking elegant. That's what you call class. He's my favourite actor. He opened my eyes and made me look internally and question my morals and ideals. That's what makes him great.

Amazing that he keeps active accepting awards at 90 still has the energy and drive to keep on entertaining

I am blessed to have met him when I was a young girl visiting family in Nassau...hearing stories from my father about his cousin Sir Sidney. Then finally as he was shooting a commercial in NYC, I walked up to him and told him I was Sherrif’s daughter then he stared at me, walked over and embraced me right on the set. He is truly a man of love and honor!

What an incredible life force is Sidney Poitier!Leaving aside all his wonderful achievements and his goodness as a person, his physical presence, even at his very advanced aged, is astronomical. Through the internet we can observe the huge glowing light that beat inside of Sidney when he received the Oscar in 1964. He was a truly beautiful young man then. As he has aged, that physical beauty has never diminished.

To say that Sir Sidney Poitier was worthy of his knighthood is a understatement as rightfully put he transcended racial barriers in the USA and gained respect from the acting fraternity for his craft and the manner in which he executed it. The commonwealth should be proud of one of its greatest sons and that being Sir Sidney Poitier KBE (Bahamas & Los Angeles).

Mr. Poitier had the most wonderful impact on me while growing up. I regularly return to the library of films he appeared in over the years. He has brought me much joy and heartfelt warmth. He above all others is my very favorite actor. I am very sorry for his present illness and pray God intervenes on his behalf. I will cherish his work as long as I live. He is a wonderful example to us all.
