I wish Mozart had had the satisfaction of knowing many regard him as the greatest composer of all time - that we’re still enjoying his music hundreds of years later.
Sounds like a full pro classical performance from 100 years ago. They've all already got superb singing talents at their young ages. End of act II ALWAYS rouses me!
I saw Der Rosenkavalier for the first time-clocking in at over four hours, and when my friend asked how I could sit through something that long I told him I wish it had been ten hours. I would have been perfectly happy
Same. Except it's a lot better than I was expecting, if I'm being honest. Mozart knows his stuff. (and so does his ex-brothel-living-priest ghost writer)
"The restored third act was bold, brilliant. The fourth was astounding. l saw a woman disguised in her maid's clothes, hear her husband speak the first tender words he'd offered her in years, simply because he thinks she is someone else. l heard the music of true forgiveness filling the theatre, conferring on all who sat there perfect absolution. God was singing through this little man, to all the world, unstoppable".
wow! this was the first opera i've ever seen and it was exquisite! i have never seen a comedy as witty and charming as this, and the overall story was so wholesome! i had also never been able to fully appreciate the brilliance of mozart-- i had just grown up hearing and knowing him as another basic building block of reality. how incredible!
Enormous congrats to all the singers. Performance is simply outstanding. Thanks a lot for singing Mozart's most beautiful (and funny) opera which I adore on spite of famous Don Giovanni, El rapto en el serrallo or Cossi fan tutte.
Congratulations on this beautiful performance! orchestra, conductor, singers, scenarios, design conception. I can consider myself very lucky to be able to watch this video. thank you very much, and greetings from Brazil!
I was lucky enough to be at the dress rehearsal of the other cast for this production. I've seen probably 50 productions of Figaro over the last 35 years and I am pretty sure this is my favourite. Sir Thomas understands the piece inside out from playing the Count so many times. Thanks for making it available
Best direction of Figaro I've ever seen (which is a lot), leading to great acting, in time with and adding to the music - I hadn't appreciated before how painful sull'aria must be for the countess.
I am just thrilled at the perfect beauty of this presentation on every facet - Music, stage design, acting....It's like watching a movie! Actors should be the best directors I have always maintained!
Mozart...........the greatest artist that ever lived....................he even has the word " Art " in his name..............coincidence.......I think not !!!!!!
Outstanding on all levels of artistic performance ... BRAVO! ... Mozart and talented singers and instrumentalists led by a great conductor, all the elements firing off in unison in a thrilling performance.
