When watching the movie I was fearing the worst, but was sort of happy with the way the story ended .. it’s sad and they were never meant to be together .. but that final word in the movie when she says his name .. tears!

This movie certainly is uplifting. Ratna’s character is so strong. In spite of being from the lower strata of society, she is so sorted and clear about what she wants from life and doesn’t compromise or give in to any temptation. Amazingly portrayed by Tillotama 👌

Vivek Gomber.. In LOVE with you.. absolutely.. iv watched the movie 6 times till now. its real, its delicate, like gossamer. We want to see more of You ViVek .... Just like Ethan Hawke's BEfore Sunrise, After Sunrise and Aftr Sunset.. whyt cant we have a sequel to this movie? I have read so many comments of people rooting for a sequel? I know unfinished is beautiful , but this will be a pang in the heart. The chemistry, Tilottama Shome, Ashwin's voice.. oh god... and hats off to Rohen Gera.. words fall short.. such a beautifully made movie.. If one inch of your skill and the acting talent of the leads could be distributed in crass mainstream Bollywood! Its good to see such erudite, well read persons churning such good movie.. ones in which we can take pride as Indians..

This movie has stayed with me since I watched it almost a year ago. The characters are so real and the acting so superb that one forgets you are watching a movie. Every scene so poignant that it’s still vivid in my memory. No amount of praise is enough for Rohena the creator, for her vision and Tillotama and Vivek for bringing the characters to life with such sensitivity. Class of a different level. Have been a fan of Tillotama since ‘Monsoon Wedding’. But watching Vivek for the first time and floored by his acting. Hope it wins every possible award. Best of luck and Looking forward to more such projects from this team. And oh BTW, Vivek’s voice is so romantic, it will just melt you.😍

First ever movie in which i thought the intimate scene is needed and i hate wen the phone rings in between

I was randomly browsing through the movie list on Netflix, and I came across this. I started watching this thinking there would be masala scenes (bcz of the poster) ;), but I was completely absorbed into the story and the characters within just 5 minutes. Scene where she starts packing her bag to leave, I cried along with her. Last scene wraps up this movie so beautifully.

The best thing about the movie is that it will stay with you. Also , you will root for the characters. And Tillo is incredible in it. Certainly this year's best performance along with Taapsee. However , Thappad is still the year's best imo.

Truely such a beautiful movie! Well written, well directed, fantastic acting...its amazing to see a hindi movie of this quality. Really stays with you and makes you think. A definite watch!

Sensitive story made with such delicacy and great conviction....loved it.

It was very interesting to see how negative the issue is in falling in love with a survant. I grow up in a Latin culture and i've seen so many "tevenovelas" that some times it has either a son or father in love with the servants or runs away with the servants or have an affair. In some of the Latin countries people no longer talk too much about it, it's more like a refular thing. They don't write off people. The main actors did a great job. I did learn a little more about India from this movie!

Made me very emotional since I too love a guy who is too perfect and I'm too messed up. I tried hard to forget him knowing that we can never be together. I got married but he is still there still a part of me and comes back to haunt from time to time. It's hard but I love him from far. Btw he is very pretty.

I simply love Vivek a lot ever since I saw him in TPIC years ago. Also, such a feel-good thing to see Vivek and Namit Das together again onscreen in a suitable boy after TPIC. Coming to SIR, I think it was so so sensitively handled. I have seen it all of two times yet I feel so connected to these people. I am still shipping them hoping for a happily ever after, ignoring social norms and conventions.

SPOILER ALERT (DO NOT READ IF YOU HAVE NOT SEEN THE MOVIE & PLAN TO SEE IT) The word used to describe the movie in this video is uplifting. I felt the movie as a reflection of Indian society & culture is depressing. The aspect of the movie that no reviewer has touched upon is that this movie portrays India as a country where people are identified by their social status, a society where your loved ones will not accept your ‘love’ if it is with someone of lower status and dreams of people of lower status are not important. Only way you can fulfill your love in a situation of this nature is to leave all this behind and migrate to America, a country where no one will ask you your family status or caste but look at you as a human being! It would have been a better movie if they had stayed in India and tried to change the system (like the ending of the movie Garam Hava, where Sikandar decides to stay in India & fight the system). It could be that most Indians have decided that the Indian mores are too deep rooted and not subject to change.
