I'm doing research for my next book, which includes a strong Scottish element and found your review very helpful. So, I'll indeed be reading this poem.
I'm always happy to find another channel that talks poetry. I don't necessarily listen to poetry collections on Audible so I always appreciate finding channels that expose me to poems like this that I might never have encountered otherwise. This was a fantastic review. Clear and concise, giving us enough information without letting the pace drag and your passion shines through clearly. Scotland is a beautiful place and I can see why even a semi skilled poet would have a fairly easy time describing it simply because it's incredibly picturesque. I can only imagine the skill with which it's visualised here. I do like that the protagonist is strong willed but unselfish. That's a very interesting mixture of character traits. I'm a character guy so I love that stuff. It always sends me down a rabbit hole of exploring my own characterisations in my writing. My favourite poem of all time is Invictus. Growing up visually impaired and losing my sight bit by bit I just always found the poem so inspiring. I may one day get a tatoo inspired by it. Glad to have found your channel. Hope you're having a lovely day.
