@@BassAdvisor Ya llevo algunos meses con este bajo y sí que ha sido de todo mí gusto. Cumple con todas mis espectativas, lo único que le mejoraría sería el apantallado, para aminorar los ruidos indeseados que siento que con algunas ecualizaciones se pronuncian bastante.
Is there a gain control panel to adjust the gain. The v5 i played wasn't powerful enough with a large and loud band. But of course I didn't think to adjust the gain control in the inside preamp panel...
Thanks for your thorough review. The V5 is one of my top candidates for an inexpensive 5 string. Frankly, one of my main concerns is the feel and sound of the B/5th string. I’m allergic to the floppy/loose feeling B strings on some 34” fivers. Can you comment on that?
it's my first actuall bass and the B feels pretty good to me. out of the box id say it needs to be set-up but it's great. the main flaw is the neck dive imo
Love your playing and honest reviews. 👍👍👍👍 that neck dive kills it though. I wonder if the sire m-2 or the m-5 five string versions have neck dive like this one. my Four string v7 is awesome with slight neck dive and u5 short scale sounds good but neck dives more than an Olympic diver. Thanks bud
This is something keeps me scratching my head. A short scale is supposed to have a better balance due to tue shorter neck. I guess smaller bodies play against it. I'm gassing for that blue u5. If i ever go for one I'll try to get the heaviest possible. The M2 I reviewed had quite a good balance. Small tuners help.
@@BassAdvisor you mean you are gassing for the blue m5 right? the u5 is sold out and doesn’t have blue. With the U5 short scale they should have gone “less traditional” and did lighter tuners, smaller headstock, more contoured body and more hollowed out in the cavity to be lighter on the body. Hi. I have Sires P5 and v7 alder (5 strings both). P5 is my favorite - for a neck and sound. That's why I thinking about v5... Can you compare in few words v5 and V7 (in passive and active mode), please. Regards
Hi Marcin! Well, most of the Sires don't sound 100% "fender" with stock pickups, but some units sound really nice in passive. Yesterday by the way I went to the shop where I record the reviews, and spent the afternoon unpacking dozens of Sires, weighting and discarding. In the end I ended up with two ash ones that weighted under 4kg, a P7 and V7. The V7 Vintage went home (3,8kg and nice balance), and in passive sounds excellent, much more organic than in active. Still have to try with a proper amp. This weekend I've two gigs and I'll tell you. Also last year I tried a 1gen one with rusty strings and no battery. One of the best jazz tones I've heard in my life. So my advice is....try as many as you can, because there are jewels, and lightweight units too.
@@BassAdvisor Hi. Thank you. I have Music Man Stingray too, but since I bought Sire, those basses are on first and second places to me. Somebody can tell that active bass is better for stage and rock music, (especiality big stage), but is is true? I don't think so... Thank you for anwser. Hola! Puede ser muchas cosas. En todo caso yo prefiero que un bajo sea brillante a que sea opaco. El brillo se matiza fácilmente recortando un poco de tono o de agudos en el ampli. Lo contrario es más complicado.
@@BassAdvisor I had problems installing the fender G4 they are humbuckers and are deeper. The sound is improved and is more compressed but it is not the same as a Fender. For the price it is a good bass but if you have always used Tobias, Fender, Music Man, G&L...etc, you'll never get used to hearing something different at hand.
Solo te diré que el V5 me dejó sin palabras, y los 3 o 4 V7 que he probado, me gustaron sin más. No sabría decir exactamente qué es, pero me transmite más calidad el V5. También tengo que decir que prefiero la simplicidad de un bajo pasivo.
@@BassAdvisor por cierto, has tocado alguna vez un Fender Marcus Miller? Un 4 de Japón o México o un 5 del EEUU? Me gustaría saber tu opinión comparando un V5 o quizás el V7 vintage enfrente del Fender MM
@@TheBartostock Hola! He probado y escuchado varios MM y sinceramente no van conmigo. El compartimiento de la electrónica me parece horroroso y el previo John East no es que tenga empuje, es que es una máquina de tirar muros. Para mi es excesivo. Yo en Fender iría a los Elite/Ultra, o por 777€ probaría los nuevos Sadowsky chinos. Para mi el previo Sadowsky es genial porque es muy sencillo.
@@BassAdvisor Gracias! No he probado nunca los Sadowsky Chinos, ni los otro dos Fenders que mencionas. Sé que con el Fender MM de Mexico cambiaron la puerta de acceso al previo a una cosa más accesible (detrás) pero no sé si el precio es mejor que el japonés
Pues el V3 al tener el previo activo tiene más posibilidades. Pero el V5 creo que lleva pastillas de más calidad. El sonido es más claro y presente. De todos modos, si todo va bien, la semana que viene iré a hacer una sesión larga a la tienda e intentaré hacer una comparativa del V3 y V5 (si les queda stock).
Pues depende de si eres muy de tocar ecualización en directo. A mi me va lo sencillo y prefiero el v5. Por otro lado, este v5 me encantó. He probado unos 3 o 4 V7, y de todos ellos solamente uno me sorprendió. Los demás estaban bien pero no me dejaron con la boca abierta ni mucho menos.
Hello! I didn't bring the scale and I seem to remember that it was lighter than most 5 string V7's I've tried. It wasn't light though. I imagine it was around 4,3-4,5kg. It is still in stock. Next time I go to the shop i'll try to remember and I'll weight it for you.
hey, i just got mine, it sounds and looks great, mine out of the box definitely needs a set-up. its not super heavy but the major dive is making it feel this way, at least when seated. i'll try lighter tuners i guess. for the price i think i'm still happy with it, but that headstock really wants to meet the floor
Different beasts. Personally I only tried one V7 that I really liked among half a dozen or more. I tried one V5 and I loved it. Luck? I don't know but I'd pick a V5 over a V7 without hesitate.
No entiendo como SIRE nunca pudo solucionar el maldito cabeceo en sus bajos...es ridiculo. Gran opcion por precio calidad, pero un gran NO, si lo que buscas es un bajo bien balanceado...
@@BassAdvisor Mi V7 de primera generación no cabecea en absoluto, eso sí, el clavijero es de juguete... los engranajes no son ni de metal, es un plástico cromado ABS que da algunos problemas eso sí de giro con el tiempo.
