Being forced to be happy or feel some kind of emotion thats contrary to your moral compass would make anyone sick to their stomach. I mean seeing someone abusing or worse to a dog/cat or a pet and being forced to be delighted and happy about it will truly make you sick that you even felt that way. That's how interpret the scene and loving how this show really captures human psychology really well. Anyway bold move uploading this, well I hope this doesn't give you trouble in youtube.
yeah I'm not gonna lie your whole rant at the end there about why Subaru isn't used to dying is very out of touch with the series. It just gives off the impression that you didn't care, nor pay attention, to the entirety of the series so far. Specifically as to why he is afraid of death. Also this point that you make about "training the fear" out of him simply just isn't a viable option. Yes in real life warriors did train themselves to ignore the fear of death, but think of it from Subaru's perspective. This man is not a warrior, nor in any shape or form a military man, just a normal teenager. Not only is he scared of dying, he does die, like a lot. Experiencing death is far different than the fear of death. Also just one more thing, this training the fear out of Subaru theory has already been explored in a side story by Re:zero's author titled the "Greed If Route". If you remember back in season 2 Echidna made Subaru an offer to enter a contract with her, and that this contract was for Echidna to help him to achieve any of his perfect outcomes in exchange for Echidna to experience everything Subaru feels. In this story Subaru accepts the offer, but Echidna would force Subaru to die. Even if he only as messed up even the tiniest details about a loop. This eventually would lead to him accruing over one million deaths (I think, I don't remember the number) and becoming so desensitized to death, he would even just reset a loop just to tell Petra what the weather would be like. TL;DR: If he decides to take Echidna's deal (The beat the fear out of him route) he would enter a loop of eternal suffering with no way to escape. This is why Subaru still fears death.
Good point re-Greed Route, one thing I missed and a few people mentioned, it wasn't the death that made him feel sick but rather the experience of enjoying sadism, that's what made him "sick in his soul" and in combination with not dying for over a year was one hell of a sucker-punch. The reason I thought he wanted to minimize deaths was (correct me if I am wrong) it's more a consciousness swap rather than a "re-set" he swaps bodies with a Subaru that "could have been" and that Subaru is now him, where as the one that died is now dead, and life goes on, just with him dead, and everything plays out however it plays out for better or worse. In short he wants to create as few alternate timelines as possible because he knows the story continues with him gone (and in many cases everyone dies like with the Rabbits)

@@NinjaKumaReactsit's a bit of both, he still has his conviction from season 2 part 2, but he did just enjoy watching someone die and didn't try to save them, which worsened it for him. Also it's been a whole YEAR since his deaths. In Re:Zero, death is 10x-100x more painful and suffering than death in the real world, dude shouldn't be able to move, he should be completely broken. Either way, whether or not he watched someone die the way he did, he probably would've felt sick after being reintroduced to the ultimate form of suffering after so long. I'm sure he felt his head cave in before resetting.

Oh no, I believe he also experience enjoyment from the experience too, hence he "felt sick in his soul", with that in mind I'd probably be mad as hell if someone did that to a kid/animal The exercise bit, the same thing over and over your body adapts and becomes good at *that* exercise so growth would stop a few weeks in, thus wasting time, you need to mix up training to continue growth otherwise you plateau
@@NinjaKumaReacts that's true to some extent, but you're still going to end up burning calories and building muscle. Have you been to the gym or gone jogging in the morning? You're gonna end up doing mostly the same thing every week, but as your stamina goes up, you run for longer or add more weight etc.
Except there's no weight, its body weight exercises - the same ones preformed over and over, eventually the body adapts and becomes more efficient at *those* specific exercises, hence unless you add difficulty or load you plateau. Yes, to the gym part, and yes to the running, but even then I mix it up otherwise the cost/benefit of the exercise declines hence interval training, stair climbing and incline walking, while not "running" it gives me more stamina for running. That being said I train *for* martial arts so running a marathon isn't my goal but rather to have enough stamina to last 3-4minute rounds, so I'm going for high intensity over distance

And subaru managed to create 3 new spells for beako to use in this year 1 spell is he can make him self untouchable as long he has mana its perfect defense , his 2 spell is making wall witch when attacks land on wall it stop time for it and cant be destroyed but once its gone attacks continues on same path 3rd spell isnt revealed yet
I dont think you could train the fear of death when you experience death itself, sure a warrior learns to not fear death or accept it because thats it, it just happens and its over, but to RE live it over and over and over knowing the exact feeling of being beheaded, getting your belly open, being eaten alive, get to enjoy the death of a child and then feel your neck snap and head explode, is quite horrible to come back in a blink feeling a phantom pain and just having seconds to analize.....I just died......and then start to think that in just a few minutes you could experience the same sickening sensation you just felt with no way to counter it just yet and no posible solution at the moment (sorry for bad grammar english is not my first language)
Don't apologise, you expressed yourself very well. Keep up the good work. I never said it would be easy, nor expect him to master it, but rather to just try. Get a little better, or make an effort to. No doubt the mental toll is high, but like any nightmare find the hand rail and the anchor so you can ground yourself no matter how bad things get. It's more his mindset than anything. I would like to see him take this more seriously.
@@NinjaKumaReacts he already handled the pain of death extremely well, you can see that in ss1 or ss2 there are death where he die, come back and he didn't scream at all when he comeback, his shock come from the situation his death is in and not just the pain itself other than the extreme that is the rabbit death, and he most likely would never get over it because with each arc the challenge is becoming harder along with his adaptability. Also the fear of death shouldn't be a things to get rid of because it a survival instinct to make sure you stay alive.

I mean, to be fair, Subaru died in some twisted way, being happy and cheering up a child dying right in front of him. It just makes sense for him to feel that way, since there's no really any breaktime to process stuff between his loops

How would it be more than the first? He was aware and more focused in S2 when he died, even in S1 during the Betelguese scenario. The only thing that makes sense is that the experience of enjoying sadism tipped him over the edge and make him "sick in his soul"

Your subjective opinions on Subaru’s lack of mental fortitude don’t objectively make any sense. While warriors can train to not fear death, what about the mental trauma from experiencing death itself? There is no warrior in recorded history who has come back from death and acted as if it were a mere inconvenience, for obvious reasons. So how can you confidently invalidate Subaru’s feelings and assume that just because he’s died several times throughout Re:Zero, he should be used to it by now? That line of thinking is akin to saying a veteran shouldn’t have PTSD if they’ve trained enough in boot camp and rationalized the concepts of killing and losing people during war. Handling mental trauma isn’t as black and white as you’re making it out to be. This RU-vidr is undermining Subaru’s character by doing just that.
That's a fair point. One thing im curious about is after every reset the brain is also reset. People use this to say its why Subaru can't develop pain tolerance from lethal experiences as the reset wipes that experience (physically) so any neural or chemical changes are lost. If that is the case, wouldn't the PTSD element also be lost? He would be able to "remember" the memory but neurologically it would be him imagining it rather than the brain remembering it (like in PTSD) right?

You can train to overcome the fear and prepare for the shock of the experience so you don't break down. In hindsight i think it was a combo of the experience of enjoying sadism made him "sick in his soul" than the reset alone

@@somefatkid2080 Well aware, that's why I'm so hung up on training as much as possible so you can reduce the probability of deaths as much as possible. Even if its building your pain tolerance and mental fortitude during the year you had to give you slightly less trauma, even a little, it can buy you precious seconds maybe even minutes, to recover when it happens so you can hopefully prevent the next one, or maybe even solve the issue by dying fewer times. That's my whole point. I must have explained it really badly if so many don't understand what I meant...

In this episode specifically, nothing was shown about Subaru's evolution in that one year (nor anyone else's). So it is assuming too much to think that something that was neither shown nor mentioned happened. Subaru literally didn't get into any real combat in this episode.

At the end, I think the reason Subaru feels so sick about his last death is because he got caught up in the Sirius' "game" by entertaining people and feels guilty about it.

They changed something in this episode, in the Light Novel, Liliana and Subaru already know each other due to an old event that was not adapted into the anime. So here instead of showing a flashback or something like that they just said that they just met and that's it.

As long as it is proper parkour and not just on that set circuit - don't forget after 1yr training they go onto buildings and whatnot, not just x1 circuit over and over again.
I should mention that Subaru can train himself to not get fear from death. But I don't think you realize how complex of a thing that would be to accomplish.. Without getting into spoilers of lore outside the main storyline well first of all I don't think biologically you can escape the fear of pain or death unless.. Well the Subaru you are thinking of "the warrior" is the path Subaru forsake in s2 when he chose to stop killing himself and love himself. Subaru can make himself die or experience horrible things but he wont escape the fear and trauma of death or the pain of death unless he dies a few hundred thousand times . Then you also have to account the fact of how to make sure he doesn't go crazy from dying so many times and he in some part have to break himself and stop loving himself and he needs to completely forsake himself. I have no idea if you are aware of canon If stories of re:zero. But the greed if story covers this scenario "train yourself" (There is a RU-vid video on this which hides spoilers by echidnut). Again don't forget the human brain is built to fear of death or fear of pain unless you break yourself. While I'm talking about this you are having other misunderstanding. The anime mentions that "when Subaru dies new universes are created" which is part of the trial is made up by echidna and she tells Subaru that only the witch of envy knows if it is true or not. Again this is due to you forgetting some details. Subaru always knew about this theory but when confronted by the 2nd trial it made him believe that the theory was real and it almost broke his soul and made him give up. After echidna's comments Subaru believes time rewinds back and that's how the story is progressing rn. Second point you made about witch of wraith controlling people's emotions. It wasn't sadism but it was happiness Subaru was feeling from lusbal's death. It was part of the reason subaru felt "sick" and not the only reason (Pain of death and head trauma). That wasn't a sucker punch that was his skull getting fractured. (Again you can force yourself to die and experience horrible things but you have to forsake your mind)
Also the "year" argument is well. Even if subaru trained his entire life I don't think he can remove the mind control thing. And second this is episode one of like 30-35 episodes and I mean subaru hasn't gotten in a real fight yet so you should wait on judgement. Again if only subaru could just train himself like hxh and fix all his problems..

Him dying more painful deaths definitely helps sort of. But the pain never gets easier to process according to subaru in s2. The shock is the pain and subaru cant control his nerves and brain to remove that. I think the better mindset to have is "How is this guy able to process his head getting crushed and still be able to think properly". Let me again reiterate. Subaru needs to die alottt of times for the shock to not be there(I think the MC died 30 times till s2)

I will say i think even if he wouldve over the year break, something like the sirius encounter still wouldve messed him up. cause yea ultimately most his deaths are a bit mentally fucky but none of them hav e a force directly influence his emotions (besides maybe those brief moments hes possesed by betelguese in season 1) where this sirius encounter has him feeling happy and comedic (as if he just watched a standup comedy show) when it actually was the speech of a mad woman who kindapped and tortured and dropped a innocent and terrified young boy onto pavement , yet he didnt do anything not cause he was being physically blcoked from doing so but cause mentally in his head he couldnt; like he didnt even feel it was an issue... and that disturbs him (well im assuming thats what it is anyways) i never read the LN for this arc only the wn and that was long ago like shortly after season 2 ended i read the arc 5 wn and dont remember it too well thats just my guess. though i do feel like it wouldve been wise for subaru to train up his mental fortitude more, and i mean i think he does to some extent here but i also think the author does like keeping the shock of different deaths as a driving force of subarus , so id almost say its to some degree a writing flaw even if i do think regarding specific deaths such as something like betelguese, the great rabbit, and this itd be quite hare to really (train ) to really handle something like those events especially this recent one given it directly fucked with his state of mind and the emotions he was feeling.

Very possible. Which is strange considering it was apart of S2 when he died multiple times, he calmed down accepted the risks and continued moving forward.

He ultimately calmed down, I never said it happened straight away lol... He died a bunch of times and even the rabbits messed him up for a while. But without a calm head he wouldn't have gotten through S2, or at least I think that? Am I giving him too much credit?
