Nobody said that but there is no evidence, that this latch mechanism can hold up well with time, and is it possible to maintain. Everybody just sing a song how incredibly beautiful it is. But this is not a cheap piece of kit it must have a good ammount of reliability

Great video, but you could've explained the counter balance in general. If I didn't know it's effect, when set properly I would believe it's for my camera to bounce back, so I don't damage my gear. Having it in such strong setting would make work with the tripod a pain especially in those tilts.
Hi Tom, quick question. do you think this tripod can accept another brand bowl head? for example, if it can accept Sachtler aktiv bowl connector 75mm including Adaptor aktiv slider / tripod 75mm. appreciate if you can shed the light on this or make a follow-up video. Thanks
Good question! I don't think so as they are right now only offering the crowd funding for the tripod but would be a good time to reach out and ask them to sell just that part.
I sold mine (legs only Pro Package) after a few months. When fully extended, they've too much flex for precise long lens work. The weigh too much. The mid level spreader adds no advantages. The feet constantly fold inward or off track and need manual adjustment. Worst, the leg lock latches require considerable force to lock the height. Between that and the feet, it's not a "rapid" or light weight system. To add insult, they sent a soft case that cannot accommodate the tripod with a head. Seriously?
I really like the tripod, but for the price you could get 2 - 3 Small Rigs new tripod with most of the features. Sirui's ability to get so low to the ground is the biggest differentiator IMO and well worth if for a handful of our shoots.
Yes I find this tripod is better for lower positions as you can get super low but if you want a taller tripod then the SmallRig that I recently reviewed goes higher. Each tripod has positives and negatives.
Just so you know I've bought a smallrig tripod and it almost fell apart in my hands within a month. The build quality is nothing like SIRUI (I've had a SIRUI monopod and a tripod for 5 yrs now, never had a problem with them) That might just be bad luck but I thought I'd mention it
CineD’s review isn’t … you can’t expect much customer service from a Chinese company - if you have $6K buy the Sachtler, otherwise these are the compromises you’re making to save $5K on a flowtech type tripod
To be fair Sachtler isn't the same brand it once was. Most of their stuff today is cheaply made in Costa Rica. It's nice to see Sirui disrupting the market.
Sunny from Sirui showed the actual patent numbers for their version at NAB and IBC so technically, if Vitec has a patent on the Flowtech release system and Sirui has a patent for their version, not legally a copy. I do agree that Sirui's version is similar, but the Flowtech legs are rectangular while the SIrui version is round, that alone may be different enough for Sirui to have obtained their patent. I own two Flowtechs and have one of these Sirui coming from China, I am eager to compare the two. I don't expect the Sirui to be as good or the same as the Sachtler at 1/4 the cost, but if it's 85-90% as good, I'll be satisfied with it. This will be better to use in the dirt and mud than the expensive Sachtler if it functions as well.
No single word about drawbacks. The carrying case doesn't fit tripod with head installed. Yeah really. Latch mechanism EXTREMELY tight, so tight that you can damage your fingers. And also fluid head doesn't support cameras less than 4kg. The quick release mechanism go loose very quickly. And more, and more. It's a very bad product. But nobody nowadays wants loose loyalty of Chinese manufacturers. It looks so silly
