@@AdamTondowsky I slightly disagree, I've only seen this film once even though I have it on blu ray (and absolutely love it). The ending is pretty clear and wraps everything up beautifully, you don't HAVE to watch the film a second time to get it.
The Altman interview is depressing but thankfully, things have changed. The internet has allowed filmmakers to by pass the big studios and you can now shoot an entire feature with a device small enough to fit in your pocket.
I’m with gene on Jacob’s ladder. The movie has so many threads and possibilities that it has to wrap up somehow, and your mileage may vary on how the choices made land with you. For example I really wanted it to actually be demons, agents of hell, etc. The actual ending is rather pat and conventional.
