Plus the failed John Belushi biopic WIRED in this late Summer '89 episode. As a reminder, if you're looking for the latest home video reviews -- from Blu-Rays of classic catalog titles to the latest releases -- be sure to check out my own review site at www.andyfilm.com

Thanks for the uploads. Siskel & Ebert is both entertaining and insightful.

This is the first Siskel and Ebert episode on RU-vid with the commercials intact. It was kind of fun seeing the corny dialogue grainy analog video of commercials from Tropicana and the Suburu dealer.

At least those commercials actually focused on selling stuff, unlike the commercials today where they try everything they can to just be entertaining without selling something.

Cookie was OK but damn did I have a crush on Emily Lloyd back then. Remember seeing her in Wish You Were Here and she melted my heart. Never became the big star she should have been here in the states.

I'm amazed that neither Siskel or Ebert didn't mention the 1973 film The Day of the Jackal regarding The Package. By the time I finished watching The Package, I realized the whole thing is just a re-skin of Jackal, with a French Connection car chase thrown in. No doubt the film is well made, has a great cast, and Tommy Lee is the best part but he ain't in it much. Ebert saying the plot is so well constructed, the strongest parts of the plot are what is lifted from Day of the Jackal, the rest is some Cold War tropes and logic gaps. An ok movie though. I miss Siskel and Ebert regardless.

Good points. I never noticed that because I've The Day of the Jackal, too.

Sometimes they missed things. When they reviewed "Hush" 1998, they didn't even mention it was a remake. 😂

The Package is a very entertaining movie. I'm trying to watch more Tommy Lee Jones movies. He's a very great actor

They got so enthusiastic about what was appropriate for kids. And, they were wrong about that issue more often than not.

Uptight grandstanding stuffed shirts preaching ego based morality every episode ... They're like a couple of leftist church ladies.. 'this is appropriate, this in not.' blah blah blah ... I grew up watching these guys and I never thought about what self absorbed virtue signaling zealots they were.

I have never seen Wired but it looks terrible and I am sure Bob Fosse, as Gene suggested, would have done wonders with the film. Star 80 is possibly the best film about the dark side of fame ever shot.

Just wondering if you could possible host these on some link like a google doc that I could save as I’m worried these full episodes will be taken down, please get back to me as I do not want these episodes to disappear

We try to link to all available full Siskel & Ebert episodes on siskelebert.org. If RU-vid ever won't allow a video we try to get a copy and host it there.

man when i watch classic movies, and want to hear a review i go to siskel and ebert, who made me like movie critics, i saw package for the first time thanks to the top top show podcast on youtube and audio, i can understand where siskel and ebert is coming from, but it just felt kind of cliche for me, and the writing is okay but you can see the reading of the script through the actor, its not bad but cliche to me, maybe we have seen this type of movie, before the long goodbye ending like ending, and the action felt like you can hear the director say cutt so the editing was to still and sometimes editied to much

Always love it when they get so fired up about Little Monsters being completely inappropriate for kids. I've never seen the film but I have seen the Nostalgia Critic's review and he makes a good point.

'The Package' -- an '''''obvious''''' take on the Lee Harvey Oswald ''theory'' that he was an agent sent in to prevent the JFK assassination, but set up to take the fall. [ ie. the other guy in the movie who joins the Nazi party - Oswald joins the Free Cuba group and WAS filmed handing out leaflets for them and interviewed on local tv - adding to the backstory... ]
