Plus Robert Altman's A WEDDING, Franklin J. Schaffner's THE BOYS FROM BRAZIL and the Farrah Fawcett-Jeff Bridges romantic thriller SOMEBODY KILLED HER HUSBAND in this 1978 classic episode of Sneak Previews.
ANDY'S NOTE - These archival PBS episodes, over 100 of them, were officially uploaded a few years back but were suddenly taken down a few months ago. While other sites have preserved these shows, I still feel they are relevant to my channel and preservation of the "golden" years of TV movie review programs, from the late 70s through the passing of Gene Siskel in the late '90s. There are a few occasional tape issues inherent in these (at one point an episode nearly completely disintegrates!) but mostly they are broadcast-quality and I'm going to present them as they were uploaded. Note the labeling is my own (I consider this "Season 1" of their weekly "Sneak Previews" shows) and may be prone to some errors, however I believe many of these if not all are in proper chronological order (some episodes were not uploaded so there are occasional gaps between episodes).
I hope everyone enjoys this trip back to a very different, and much more exciting, time in movie-going history with Gene and Roger as your weekly guide...

So this is the first time we get their classic theme music (rather than Billy Joel's _Root Beer Rag_ ). And here's my question: Is the closing theme intended as an homage to the seven dwarves' _Hi-ho!_ song from the Disney film?

Piranha and Up in Smoke were cult classics.

Cult classics don't happen as the movie comes out lol

Haha, did they screw the pooch on their little classist dog bit. Both Piranha and Up in Smoke are acknowledged cult classics: Piranha was an early Joe Dante film (critics famously blew it on Gremlins as well) that just got a 4k release (while all of these other films they liked have been forgotten) and both Cheech Marin and Tommy Chong went on to become respected actors (Tommy Chong was recently in Richard Stanley's Color Out of Space).

I don't really agree with most of what these guys are usually saying, honestly, but they're well-spoken and interesting enough that they're just fun to listen to

im pretty sure they both liked gremlins, which is a very entertaining movie. i haven’t seen piranha. up in smoke really isn’t a good movie. cheech and chong are funny personalities but as filmmakers there isn’t much to get excited about. it’s possible to get so stoned that up in smoke is entertaining despite its myriad flaws, but it’s hard to blame these guys for not liking considering it’s definitely not pitched at them and they were almost certainly not stoned. im pretty sure even up in smoke fans don’t want to sit through it sober

@@xaque9732 I agree with you on Up In Smoke but Cheech & Chong's Next Movie is fricking hilarious.

That clip they showed announced everyone who was killed in Death On The Nile. Is this where spoilers originated?
