For once I agree with Gene....Full disclosure, I've loved every Rocky movie.

So did i and i sometimes wonder if they just wanted to disagree with each other for the fun of it and to kick off a row! 🤔

Totally agree. But the Creed movies are awful. Everything about the Rocky's they lose.

@@davidporter671 The Creed films don't feel like Rocky movies at all....I agree, they're awful.

@@davidporter671 Yep and they thought they could carry it on somehow with Sly eventually being too old and giving it up but the Creed legacy is only a thing because of Rocky but Rocky was superior in everyway

@@davidporter671The Creed movies are brilliant and accentuate everything that Rocky got wrong. They took a tired story and brought it fully back to life due in no small part to the sheer talent of Michael B. Jordan on screen.

I remember when Siskel and Ebert reviewed Young Sherlock Holmes. This video leaves out the scene where the knight jumps down from the stained-glass window. I remember it especially because Ebert remarked that the scene was produced "in the mind of the computer." The term CGI did not exist in those days.

He said that on their "If We Picked the Winners" show, I think.

This movie inspired Ronald Reagan.

Yes, when our grandfather took us to see it on opening day it was super cold outside and the line litterly wrapped around the whole building. Biggest line I have ever seen or been in even bigger than any of the star wars premiers I went to

I wish Rodger was still around to see the Rocky Vs Drago Director’s cut of Rocky IV. I feel he would appreciate that one more.

I just do not get how Gene liked Rocky 4 for all the same reasons that he disliked Rocky 3. Bizarre

I think Ebert lost the Rocky IV vs. Young Sherlock Holmes argument in the long run. Rocky IV is definitely more remembered now. It's slightly higher-rated on IMDB but has almost 10 times as many votes.

The movie ranking on the IMDB is an embarrassment.

They are both good movies and there's no reason to compare them because they're totally different.

I never thought i would be siding with Gene again on this as he usually is so hard on films but he is the right one here and Roger Ebert was totally wrong and they were both wrong about Rocky 3 which was awesome but they hated it this was even better than that Dolph Lundgren was amazing and Gene was right he didn't need the dialogue and tbh he prob wasn't upto it as an actor anyway at that time to have loads of lines but the few things he did say were always memorable such as If he dies he dies and I must break you and didn't he have something with Bridget Nielsen as well? As well as Sly tho i could be wrong! It was the 5th one that was shit and i didn't think much of Rocky Balboa either the first two Creeds were good tho!

Just watched Rocky 1-4 in the past two weeks, with someone who had never seen the films. I remembered rocky four being a decent movie on the level with rocky three but I haven’t seen either three or four in over twenty years. After watch them in order I was shocked how bad Rocky four is, basically unwatchable🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️ Rocky One 9:5 Rocky Two 8.5 Rocky Three 8.5 Rocky Four 2.0 I wanted to like Rocky four as much as I had remembered but it’s absolutely a train wreck with no heart👎👎way down. How Gene Siskel said he liked it blew me away🤷‍♂️🤯

I don’t like Rocky IV mostly because the series had gotten cheesy and lost the grit of the first three movies but I will give IV some credit and can say without hesitation it was better than V at least.

Young Sherlock Holmes aged way better as a movie than Rocky IV. The seriousness of the later is nowadays a little bit cartoonish.

Young Sherlock Holmes isa great movie ,but why did Steven had to use part of The Indiana Jones movie in this one . It does not make sense. A marginal 👎 from me

Young Sherlock Balboa...blah! Am I the only fan of Fool for Love here? The best movie they reviewed on this episode: intense, passionate, and sexy.
