2:05 Sal: "You want brothers on the wall? Get your own place, you can do what you want to do." 20 years later: Buggin' Out has his own place which he uses as a front for his meth empire.
Do The Right Thing is a great movie. "Fair minded" is a great description of what makes it great. Every character exists on their own merits rather than avatars of their race.
Do the Right Thing is perhaps the most overrated movie of all time, people love it because it was Spike Lee's big attempt to make a racial statement, but it fell flat. Movie was derivative and boring plus the message was off base. Seriously? Going after a small business owner because he was White? And he wasn't racist in any way, just nationalistic in that way immigrants often are so Spike was way off base. there Then bashing up the guys business was like saying: yeah, it's ok to go after the little guy because we have the wrong idea about him and he's white. Completely stupid and racist. However, School Daze is Spike Lee's best movie, great entertainment and the only time Lee accurately targeted racist attitudes, except it was ones within the black community, something that really exists but gets ignored. She's Gotta Have It was pretty good for a low budget movie, showed he had some talent for movies. Wasn't great but a lot better than Do the Right Thing.
Are you white? You suffering from WMDS White Male Derangement Syndrome: meaning anytime Black folks receive any type of recognition especially when it comes to discussing race or racism., you all turn into a snowflake whining little bitch. It's clear you didn't watch the movie because your take is so friggin laughable and doesn't make any sense whatsoever. Spike Lee said, his movie more of litmus test to where it would expose the closet racist, based were upset about Sal property being destroyed as oppose to Radio Raheem being killed by cops property holds more value than human life. Well your entitled to your opinion as stupid as it sounds.
@@robmorrow3275 If they were upset about cops unjustifiably killing somebody, then go after the ones who did the killing, not a small business guy. Very simple concept but it eludes you. Why is that? Must be an IQ thing.... Ok, the ones who did the killing shoot back, so some random white guy makes a safer target, but then admit you are cowards.
I never saw Sal as racist. In fact I never saw any of the characters portrayed 100% good or bad, except maybe the cops that killed Radio Raheem. They are the ones that should've received the ire of the people, but this would never happen in the real world so the violence is miguided against Sal's place, the closest reference of white people they've got. It's not a movie about how riots should happen, but how they did happen (Watts 65) and would happen (LA 92)
@@robertmorrow7480 The only real racism in this country is the fake racism narrative created by the Democrat politicians and media. They love suckers like you who buy into it.
@@robertmorrow7480 Let's look at the "message" of Do The Right Thing. Go after a small business owner because he was an immigrant expressing that cultural nationalism that recent immigrants often do. It wasn't racism and he wasn't racist, that was just a fabrication to justify bashing up his business. Sound familiar? Something you and your brothas approve of I'm sure. I'm sure that scene had you out of your seat and couldn't wait to go out on the street and do the same. I see that same violent attitude being played out all the time on city streets and guess what color is the ones doing 90% of the racist violence? I'll give you 2 guesses and if you can't figure it out you're even dumber than you don't think you are. So who are the real racists? Try looking in a mirror.
