I am American and I just returned from Kenya 3 days ago. I went through 4 security checks! And yes it was hell getting my visa. All I can say is buy travel insurance to get paid for delays, etc. My experience with Kenya Airways was horrible, but I get paid for their ignorance. I had to stay in Capetown two extra days , thank you Kenya Airways. When I arrived back to America, Kenya Airways was over an hour late and I missed my connecting flight. So I was in JFK over 12 hours. Travel insurance is important when traveling to any country.
Salute to you for that pro travel tip. People don't get that some of this is BASIC common sense stuff. Travel Insurance is golden....the only thing I remind people to do is READ THE FINE FINE print on everything in your contract.
I understand she went through that once , but to go back and subject yourself to it again is insane. Go where you are embraced. I’m disappointed in the sista to keep going back to a place that clearly don’t want you there.
It is burdensome dealing with others who don't like us because we don't look like them! They do this to us because we have always been the majority even though we used to only be 13 percent of the population but now they recently have just now marked us down for being only 14 percent of the population! NO, THEY ARE MAD BECAUSE IT IS A WRAP FOR THEM BECAUSE THEY CAN NO LONGER HIDE THEIR DISCRIMINATION RIGHT IN OUR FACES ANYMORE FOR FREE EITHER and THEY CANT STAND IT!
she said she went at least 3 times, it's never good to bring powder-like "tea or coffee" from malaysia or anywhere - especially during covid, which puts her name on suspect list
As Africans, let's focus on visiting and exploring other African countries. Hopefully the Visa process of traveling to other African countries gets better.
@@nighni459--- The Caribbean welcomes our African people, we all look alike. In Jamaica, our Motto is, '''Out of Many, One People''' '''Red or yellow, black or white, they are all a wonder in our sight'''
You don't want to own up to your mistakes. Most of these African women are either cross border prostitutes or mules. Which is true in most cases. Many are rotting in Asian jails
try not to visit these places you are wellcome if possible ,,,,yep very important for Africa to Unite and make it nice so we dont have to visit these horrible places ,,,Period !!!!
And demand that our nations give the same treatment to Bali or wherever that country that gave an African or a black man or woman from the diaspora any problem didn't end and out of their country. That was not just or fair. Or done to other people of other races?
When whites arrive in African airports, they behave as if they know everything more than anyone and dont want to cooperate with officials. They didn't shoot you as you shoot innocent black folks in white counties though 🤔🤔
@@blackzar09 what happened to: Thou shall not steal? Additionally don’t be surprised when no will invest in that country. Except of course the Chinese, who have bought off the Government & will soon have private military contractors on the ground dealing with those who have sticky fingers. Good luck 👍🏾
I was held over in Morocco by customs. They searched my bags (so humiliating to have all your personal belongings laid out in public). It seems they thought I was a black Moroccan trying to escape. In Egypt I had a similar experience. They thought my blow dryer and flat iron were weapons 🙄🙄🙄
Majority of the time, it has nothing to do with one’s colour and everything to do with the fact that a female is travelling solo which sometimes sets alarms bells with the authorities. They often believe women that travel solo are drug mules. I know a few women black and white who have travelled solo and have had a similar experience.
This is why, as a black woman, I pick and choose where to travel to. As for me, I would board the next flight out. Certain countries, they can keep it. I will not fight for them to accept me. It's their country; I do not have to go their.
Man that's terrible for her and everyone else that happens to. I would love to go to Bali. I'm a black female but I'm in the United States and also I'm half white so idk if I'd be treated better bc of a usa passport and not being so dark skinned. But I can't travel sadly anyway I don't have the funds lol
I will have told them to please put me on the next plane back to my country. We go to places where we are not wanted. As African we need have pride in ourselves.
I went through a similar process when I was leaving Tanzania I already of course paid for my ticket to go home but this woman who was summoned by the counter person who was very obviously some sort of manager or supervisor, she asked for the card I used to pay for my ticket and tried to take it away I immediately followed her all the way to some office on the side she had my card and was supposedly making a call about it but said she wasn't getting an answer that she was seeking some sort of confirmation it was getting too close to my flight taking off so I started insisting she give me my card I was not missing my flight, I barely made the flight and never was told exactly what she was doing with my card but I knew that being my bank card I was not letting it out of my sight, I am a light skinned so called African Amerikkkan woman 😡
Traveling in Africa is more of a nightmare than anywhere else if you are black. Ironically. I almost got arrested in Kenya for doing something I see everybody does elsewhere : filming on a public street. 😂. Have seen other African bloggers complain about how they were treated on their own continent, including arrests, custody and deportation 😢
America isn't klan country. Ask any Black immigrant and the millions trying t get in. Give up your nationality if you hate it so much, let another Black person take your opportunities and wealth which allows you to travel. Privileged ,spoiled and ungrateful. God doesn't like ugly. I wish your life was a dream and you woke up being Black in a majority Black country with limited opportunity even if you went to university. You don't miss the water until the well runs dry.
@@NdiEdward Did you travel on a majority Black nations passport or a passport from America, Europe, Canada,New Zealand or Aus? It does make a difference.
I do see your perspective. I wouldn't go back either. But I also can see it as... this whole universe belongs to God and I'm not about to let a group of people that hate themselves and in turn hate me keep me from seeing a beautiful part of His creation.
I have had this in America (my own country and I am a Vet), Africa, Australia and Armenia. It is weird to see it in Bali which is very touristic. Sorry this happen and I have been used to it. Yes, I know how she feels and it is embarrassing more than anything else. I would say don’t offer information. Make them prove you are a criminal. I don’t argue because if they have an issue, DEPORT ME…it’s not my home and I don’t owe your economy anything. Safe travels! I didn’t have this issue in Bali though.
Aside from da fact I was born in Italy (father was Air Force), I have never really traveled abroad. But... as a black person and after all I've seen recently, I can kinda understand her pain! With dat being said, it's gonna come 2 pass when we black ppl have da same kinda power as da "J" community; where if u piss one off then we keep u down 4 as long as we c fit or until u pay recompense 4 what u said and/or did! Or even if it's impossible 4 u 2 make said recompense u stay down! I could go on about dat, but I'm not gonna type a TL;DR on purpose.
I am a dsw and I traveled to solo to Bali this year without any issues. As a matter of fact, I had a joyful experience. My sister traveled there after my visit and her and my niece experienced nothing of what she is talking about. I do not think people should stop traveling wherever they desire to travel … go and let your experience be your experience …
They think as a black woman, traveling solo that there may be an issue of prostitution. That’s what they think. Why they’ve arrived at that, I don’t know. Also, there was nothing funny about what happened to this young lady, but I certainly wouldn’t be giggling and laughing while explainingthe situation. Otherwise, I think people would not take her very seriously.
I experienced this while traveling back to the United States from a missions trip from Ghana, West African. There was an african pastor that was detained in Boston for an hour or so. Very unfair and unfortunate.
West Africa has a country that has lots of scammers and drug dealers, hence they get more scrutinized almost everywhere...and at times everyone with an African passport gets the same treatment 😢
9 of us Black white and Indian went to Israel in 1988. Our friend Age 50 very dark skin was taken to a room for questioning. We all felt very bad but at the end the Israeli brought her out and apologised and told us there was an extra security detail concerning a threat from Ethiopia and Israel has to follow top security measures.
I remember watching a video about a young black female from Canada who also went to Bali, she too had a horrible experience there too. Posted from Britain.
Unfortunately they are but only to Africans smh 🤦🏾♂️ they have held me in Tanzania and Nairobi airports under suspicion that I’m a Nigerian and searched me the same way this lady got searched in Tanzania and kenya. I’m black American by the way. It’s embarrassing
I was born in Kenya; I hold US Passport, but I have to get a Visa to travel to Kenya. The same questions you asked when applying a Kenyan Visa, so I don't see anything wrong there it's a normal procedure to any country you may visit. your writer doesn't matter my dear sister most drug dealers are wearing impeccable sometimes hard to spot a drug dealer. again, the way you wear doesn't matter.
Nope! I too I’m Kenyan and reside in the US. Let’s not normalize abnormal behavior. She mentioned 2 black ladies were held back and put through that rigorous process. I’ve been to Bali, fortunately that didn’t happen. Maybe the US PP saved me, I don’t know. JS.
How is that if you born in Kenya you require a Visa to travel to Kenya ? I always thought you are automatically granted citizenship of the country you where born in ? 🤔
Idk about this one. It's a gamble either way. The worst experiences been with informants. Who role is to traffick. That's their job. If a man pays, he expects a prostitute. If you go alone, they will paint you as a seller of the sex they are buying. Everything is weird.
My Russian girlfriend was questioned for 2+ hours in tel aviv and accused of being an escort as she travelled from Russia alone. It’s a passport thing. I was questioned entering Russia in November for 2 hours also and questioned but showed them the girl and laughed and got through. Sometimes just enjoy the nonsense. 😊
@eXclusive1 It is NOT just a passport thing. I am a Black male born in America with an American passport. The extra scrutiny I get in many places is NOT due to my passport,it is due to my race.
@@eXclusive1there are sufficient real life experiences of embarrassment at airports from black folks all over RU-vid. Take a few minutes to throw a glance
I don't think it was that bad, otherwise, why would you go there 3 times? Some people just like to give too much importance to themselves. In the other hands, I do not deny that some people go through tough experience when crossing boarders, but I believe most of the times, it is the passport that is problematic, depending on the country you are visiting.
They thought that she was a prostitute and were looking for evidence. End of story. An attractive young woman from a lower income country travelling alone raises suspicions. Indonesia takes their laws and morality extremely seriously, and more countries should follow their example.
This is so unfortunate and its sucks to experience this. However, I've experienced this more traveling back to USA as an American with a US passport than any country I've been to.
Kenyans are amongst the top African buyers of UK and US houses. There is a group of about 15000 families who are the elite class. Mind you Kenya has had the distinction of having the largest slum in the world when we were just a population of 25 million.
I am Indonesian, sorry for the inconvenience you received. We are only wary of foreign visitors who come alone to our country Because most cases of illegal drug dealers are those who come alone
She was lucky, that foreign substance wasn't placed in her luggage, I've heard of cases that black people have been framed in Indonesia and landed in prison, which is some of the worse in world
I'm Black in america so I understand what the Sister and others are going through. She ask why? It is because We are Our Heavenly Father's Beloved Children. they are the prince of darkness spawn. I REMAIN AFRICAN ALWAYS R Mack
You are too soft my sister!! You have to fight for your rights in those situations.if you defended your rights maybe they would not have did it to another black person. That’s why I love black Americans they fight for their rights anytime!!!
And what has improved? Africans descendants are still treated as badly and even worse if they show the least resistance. Don't fight for your right everywhere you go. People will just make fun of you. Build wealth and be picky about traveling destinations
I can see this happening in a wealthy country like Germany or Australia that wants to discourage Africans who plan to stay & work illegally, but this was Indonesia. A country just as poor as Kenya. What's the incentive for this woman to stay in Bali and work for poverty wages? That means there's other reasons why she was harassed such as racism.
I think its international standards of training. This actually happens all over including in the continent of Africa to other Africans. Worst country being Mauritius
@@Njaleni It's the reason we are so not getting ahead... Boycott could mean sticking together for a year.... To honor a sister who was seriously disrespected.... Many benefited from Rosa Parks, but act like they did it alone ... No problem here... Enjoy yourself. Peace
Messed up and what happened to the sister But I will say this, these African countries need to start giving these other countries that harassed people, the same type of energy at the airport that they give them
True...and there is a reason while African passports get scrutinized in SEA or elsewhere. Actually a few reasons: drugs, crimes and prostitution. I'm African so I can speak without fear of being judged. It is not all Africans but we have a county with the most notorious scammers and they import these scamming schemes to SEA, lots of documentaries even here if you look where police are busting these types in a room selling drugs, scamming people around the world. Then we have a few more cases where African women _and othwr women to be fair were caught doing prostitution in countries where it's illegal like Malaysia. So if you are traveling on an African passport, except some scrutiny at times. Heck I have seen comments of Grab drivers saying they cancel on black clients cause they have bad experiences with them...in Malaysia
It’s spelled “That’s”. Also, wrong “there”. Add a period after that sentence. Then put “They” in front of can and add a period at the end of that sentence. Illiterate troll :)
True, but that sort of thing isnt taught in the United States. Tribalism and nationality are not really factors in that country like it is everywhere else on earth.
It's not right. I just replay in my mind what they did to Jesus. If they hated Jesus how much more us. But one day. One day the truth is going to make them all have to humble themselves. Everything happens for you, not against you.
Pin my comment Hello, what years this sister came to bali, if she came to bali in COVID years it's true, we banned travelers from some african countries because covid case there booming. Note : some of african here is drug dealers, drug dealers here sentenced to death. Many of them are from africa, sorry to generalized it but it's the facts, nigeria, kenya, south africa. They aware of that. If the airport managers said you are black sorry it's not insulting you it's just describe your identity. Sorry ya, generalized it it's not good at all, but yeah the facts are the facts, don't blame to much okay, many of your people doing bad here and you get the effects 🙏
Gimana bro negara afirka banyak penyuludupan narkoba di Indonesia, jadi harus bersabar, banyak orang afrika sukses di Indonesia, kalow orang yg benar, jadi berdampak ke orang gak tau apa" . Jadi di perketat paspor afrika, ekonomi indonesia berpengaruh, makan nya indonesia banyak acaman penyeludupan narkoba, bahkan anak muda bisa beli narkoba harga 100 dolar , anak umur 15 umur 17 , makan nya di perketat negara afrika,
Can we really say we don’t know why this happens? As someone who’s based in America and taken many flights to and from Nigeria… we can’t deny our people here and there don’t constantly give airport staff and even immigrantion departments the hardest of times… does that mean we deserve it as individuals, no. But pretending to be shocked is counter productive. My heart goes out to those who experiences injustices at any level (I lthis life constantly too)but at the same time let’s at least approach this matter with honesty and accountability
What planet do you live on seriously? The woman telling her story was polite , humble and obviously not doing anything to warrant .Such over the top excessive treatment. Yes the staff have their Job to do, but they also receive extreme training, in how to deal with trouble makers, and discrepancies.
Swiss with two children visited the states in 1997. After a long fly holding a sleepy 4 1/2 on arm and dragging a 6 years who almost fall asleep we got detained for 3 hours We came to the states because 1. we have relative 2. Our pediatrician recommended to stay for a few months at ocean for my daughter chronic asthmatic symptoms. We decided for Venice where we rented for 1 months a place plus had help from relative. The symptoms healed very well at ocean breeze but the wound from being retained I will never forget. We are white people and still experienced this I don’t think has anything to do with color. And I can’t stand how people pulling their race card right away if something is going wrong .
Sorry sis what happened to you but the Question when will you learn not a writer not content creator please you can do ur stuff in the motherland with dignity and write what ever you want create content at free space It don’t sound good every day eather doc Rashid or Phil or mungele they always give you directions if don’t follow then there’s nothing to say sorry cause you opted at ur own choice
We really don't realise that referring to people with their skin colour is promoting racism. So, sad. Check the colour scale and convince yourself that what you are referring to is actually what it is.
@@RST94 have you ever seen a person with the colour of snow? Think critically about that question, please. You leave the N word which is Portuguese and Spanish and replaced it with the B word which is English. Same effect. One superior and the other inferior. Japanese are lighter than Europeans. How do you call them? Chinese, Indians, Sri Lankans, Moroccans, etc. Pls think about it critically. Thanks
@@RST94 thanks. But remember that it to decades to abolish slavery and stop people from using the N word.
